The trailer for Season 6 of "Rick and Morty" immediately kicks off with Rick Sanchez and Jerry Smith (Chris Parnell) hunkered down and wielding futuristic weapons. Rick then comments that it is time to engage in combat and says he will need a soundtrack. Rick proceeds to ask his sentient car to play his favorite playlist, starting with track one, and classic rock starts to play. The trailer then displays robots, a "Die-Hard" situation at intergalactic arcade Blips and Chitz, cybernetic transformations, plenty of gunfights, explosions, and other completely outrageous scenes. However, what is the song that Rick requested that plays throughout the trailer?

It turns out that the song is none other than Black Sabbath's "Paranoid," which comes from the 1970 album of the same name. Of course, the most famous member of Black Sabbath, and its singer, is Ozzy Osbourne of bat-eating fame. According to NPR, this song and album from Black Sabbath helped bring heavy metal to the forefront of pop culture, with musician Angel Deradoorian describing the lyrics to "Paranoid" thusly, "They're simple, yet very universal in what they're telling. They're anti-war. They're anti-establishment. It's about being real with the darkness that surrounds all of us in the world."

Considering the nature of Rick in "Rick and Morty" and the above quote, this song syncs up perfectly with the show's story. Rick is stringently anti-establishment, so much so that he doesn't even trust a government consisting of different versions of himself. That's not even getting into his long-standing feud with the Galactic Federation. Nobody tells Rick Sanchez what to do, which makes a song like "Paranoid" absolutely perfect as a background track.
