A new nail trend is going viral on TikTok and it’s confusing everyone.

Last year, girls were asking their boyfriend what colour nails they should get to see if they would reply with the common answer ‘light blue’.

All boys seem to tell their girlfriends to get light blue nails according to TikTok, and that is actually a symbol to show that you’re in a relationship.

If you get light blue nails, it means that you have a significant other and is a way of telling others that you are officially taken, apparently.

Now, a new nail involving ‘sky blue French tip 1.5’ nails has gone viral, but what does it mean? Read on to find out…

‘Sky blue french tip 1.5’ trend goes viral

On TikTok, a new trend is going viral that sees men telling their girlfriend to get a specific nail design, ‘sky blue french tip 1.5 inch’.

“She asked me what colour nails she should get so I told her ‘french tip sky blue 1.5’ now I’m blocked,” one person wrote.

Another said: “Next time she ask for a nail colour say ‘sky blue french tip 1.50’ and wait for a reaction.”

“Next time yo girl ask you what colour nails tell her ‘french tip sky blue 1.5 inch’ see wha she say,” a third person added.

The videos started going viral in June and some have had over 400,000. People clearly find them totally hilarious – but why?

The TikTok trend explained

The trend is being used by boyfriends to prank their girlfriend into thinking they’ve cheated on them.

‘French tip sky blue 1.5’ is a very specific nail design and most guys wouldn’t know what it means, so saying it would make their girlfriend suspicious.

Girls would expect their boyfriend to say a simple colour like ‘pink’ or ‘red’, so saying ‘french tip sky blue 1.5’ could make them think that their boyfriend has been talking to another girl.

Boys are joking that girls will block them or go crazy as they think they have been unfaithful, but it’s all just a silly TikTok prank.

It doesn’t actually make sense

In reality, the trend doesn’t even make sense because girls would never ask for 1.5 inch nails.

Sky blue and french tip are pretty believable, but boys are showing their lack of nail knowledge with the bizarre length.

When you visit a nail shop, you don’t ask for a specific length in inches, you show them the length you want, so the prank is pretty stupid.

In the comments, one fan wrote: “As a nail tech we don’t use 1.50. Say ‘get coffin with v-french tips.”

“Does anyone actually use the 1.50 because I never say a number I just show them what I want,” said another.

Well, that’s another silly TikTok trend explained!
