Last week, while their kids slept, a couple from Rhode Island was discovered shot to death inside their house.
On June 22, at around 6.40 a.m., police received a complaint of two individuals suffering gunshot wounds. Eric Huard, 51, and Courtney Huard, 42, both of Cumberland, Rhode Island, were declared dead at the scene.
The couple’s three children—Grant, Blake, and Sydney—were found uninjured at their Birchwood Drive home.
Police believe that the shooting was an isolated occurrence and that “this was not a random act of violence,” according to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson.

Cumberland Police Chief Matthew J. Benson gave an update on Courtney and Eric Huard’s deaths on Friday. In 1998, Courtney received her high school diploma from Cumberland.
She graduated from URI with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics in 2003 and a Master of Science in Nutrition in 2006.
The couple have three children: Grant, Sydney, and Blake.
The inquiry, according to the police, also showed that Eric Huard shot himself to death.
According to her obituary, Courtney Huard managed a diet and nutrition clinic and was a “passionate and caring mother” to the couple’s three children, Grant, Blake, and Sydney Huard.
Grief counselors will be available to students, staff, and community members at the Cumberland School Department.

On Wednesday morning, the bodies of a 42-year-old Cumberland lady and her 51-year-old husband were found inside their home.
Courtney Huard and Eric Huard were both shot and declared dead after police arrived at their residence at 28 Birchwood Drive, according to Cumberland Police Chief Matthew Benson.
Early on Thursday afternoon, Benson identified the pair and made few comments regarding the police inquiry into the specifics of the shooting.
The shooting remained a “isolated event,” Benson said, adding that “the investigation thus far indicates that this was not a random act of violence.”
