Walid Regragui Was Hired As The National Coach Of Morocco For Three Months Before The World Cup

Walid Regragui is the current coach of the Morocco national football team. He is a professional Moroccan football coach of French descent and a former Moroccan player. Regragui has been a player for many teams, including Toulouse, AC Ajaccio, Dijon and Racing Santander. Following the departure of predecessor coach Vahid Halilhodzic in August, Morocco recruited Regragui as head coach of the national team ahead of the World Cup.

Morocco will participate in the Qatar 2022 World Cup for the sixth time. In September 2012, Regragui began his coaching career as an assistant to the Moroccan national team under head coach Rachid Taoussi. Taoussi’s contract also ended when he was fired in October 2013. His achievements

In May 2014, Regragui was appointed to Fath Union Sport after the expiration of his contract with the Moroccan national team. He guided the team to the Moroccan Cup and Botola Pro, Morocco’s top professional league, in 2016. After six years with the club, he left by mutual agreement. He played one season with Wydad AC before taking over the national team.

In one of his seasons, he led the club to a CAF Champions League win, Wydad’s third Champions League trophy and a second consecutive league title. After Hussein Ammouta, Regragui became the second Moroccan coach to win the African Championship with Wydad. On Instagram, he expressed his utmost satisfaction at finishing the season with a historic double. In an interview, he said that he signed a one-year contract with the club and would rather stop there because he thinks good things must end at the right time.

Completed CAF Professional Diploma

After three and a half years of study, Regragui has just completed her CAF professional degree and received her CAF professional license, which is reserved for coaches who are actively coaching at the professional level. In an interview, Regragui said that he had time to verify his AFC professional license while commanding Al-Duhail before going to Morocco when he started Pro CAF before joining FUS.
