Richmond Folk Festival

October 7 – 9th

An annual tradition with people coming from all over, Richmond's Folk Festival comes today to our riverfront. Music from all over the world, food and fun.  The 2016 Festival has an amazing list of performers and exhibitors.

Annual Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival

October 8th

The Step Up for Down Syndrome 5K & Family Festival is a  5K run at & 1-mile advocacy walk .  It is a great family event that celebrates all of the  abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome in Greater Richmond and Central Virginia. 100% of all registration fees and donations are used to serve families in our service area.  Live music by Route 64, FREE Family Entertainment, Fashion Show and Superstars Celebration, Sponsor and Exhibitor Displays & more.

Family festival is free and open to the public.  

 

Powhatan State Park Fall Festival

October 8th

Another annual Fall Festival at Powhatan State Park. There will be pumpkin decorating, campfire cooking, wagon rides, a field maze, face painting and games. There is also a photo opp for you with  with Ranger Parker Redfox. Snacks and drinks will be for sale. There is a  Parking fee. P If you want to do pumpkin decorating, you can for $3 per pumpkin, plus wagon rides are $4 per person or $10 for the whole family.

Oystoberfest

October 15th

Richmond Virginia’s famous oyster roast, held in historic Ginter Park at St. Thomas’ Church, OystoberFest 10! musical acts, activities for kids, beverages, eats, plenty of parking, and most of all . . . Oysters!!

Harvest Festival at Meadow Farm

October 15th

Come to Meadow Farm for the harvest and fun with the whole family. A Farmer’s Market and explore hands-on activities and demonstrations that bring fall to the forefront. Candle dipping, apple pressing, tractor rides, and living history exhibits are to name a few. Enjoy live musical entertainment by the Barbara Martin Trio and the Knuckle Dusters! New this year is the punkin chunkin fun for the entire family! Try your best to sling the pumpkin the furthest! Concessions will be available for purchase. Information:

Owen’s Creek Oyster Festival

Central VA Celtic Festival & Highland Games

October 22 – 23nd

Celtic food, music, and heavy athletics, that is what is on tap for this fun event.  Richmond International Raceway is home to the fun and it is for all ages.  The Central Virginia Celtic Festival and Highland Games has all things Celtic including highland dancing, and harp and fiddle competitions. The vendors will have jewelry, traditional Celtic food, pottery, and the always popular, kilts. For those of age and interested , you can join the whiskey tastings,
