Guides describe the bar’s “elegant low-key ambiance” and ample leather seating with the “air of a 1920s speakeasy” as a “perfect fit for the characters of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel”.

The bar’s enviable wine list includes a Jeroboam of Dom Perignon Rose champagne, vintage 2000, priced at £12,800, while an everyday bottle of beer will set patrons back £13.

He has repeatedly defended the left-wing leader’s right to remain as head of the party, condemning MPs attempting to overthrow him.

Unite gifted the Labour Party approximately £19million in the last parliament, and has formally endorsed Corbyn for the leadership this summer.

Speaking on his colleague, Tory MP Stuart Andrew said:  “While his fellow trade unionists are crippling our rail services with strikes, Red Len is enjoying the high life – it’s clearly Monte Carlo or bust for McCluskey.”

A spokesman for Unite said that Mr McCluskey was in Monte Carlo attending a private event that the union did not pay for.
