Umar Damagum as knwon as Jagoran Talakawan Jihar Yobe. He was born on 10 August 1963 that’s why he is 59 years old as of 2023.

Umar enrolled in 1971, Primary School at Damagum Central Primary School, and completed his study in 1977. He later attended Government College Maiduguri for his Secondary education from 1977 – 1982.

He later took admitted into Remedial Studies at the Prestigious University Of Maiduguri from 1982-1983 and later got attended the Faculty Of Education in 1983, where he received his Bachelor Of Arts education (B.A. Education) in 1988.

In 1995- 1996, Umar returned to the University Of Maiduguri for pursuing a Post-graduate Diploma In Management (PGDM). And finally, he studied Masters In Business Administration (MBA) at the University Of Maiduguri in 2003/2004.

PDP Appoints Umar Damagum As Acting National Chairman

The Peoples Democratic Party has assigned Umar as the acting National Chairman of the party. The NWC (National Working Committee) of the PDP at an emergency meeting, on Tuesday, 28 March 2023, recognized the order of the Benue State High Court.

Umar replaces Iyorchia Ayu who was suspended by his ward in Benue State for anti-party activities. The court after that controlled him from parading as the chairman of the party pending the determination of the significant suit which has been discontinued to 17 April 2023, for a hearing.

The plaintiff after taking the court order told journalists that following Iyorchia’s suspension by his Igyorov Ward Exco, it was incorrect for him to continue as the PDP chair.
