TikTok users have been going gaga over the Ohio trend that has given rise to several memes and jokes on the platform, but what is it all about?
Over the years, several jokes and memes have gone viral on the platform and it has given rise to trends that have been taken forward to other social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and more.
Lately, people have been coming across the Ohio memes and jokes but some have been confused about the meaning behind them.
What is TikTok’s Ohio trend?
The TikTok Ohio trend stems from the famous Ohio VS the world meme which basically hints that nothing can go right in this State.
As per Know Your Meme, the Ohio vs the world meme originated in 2016 on Tumblr when a user who went by the name screenshotofdespair posted a photo that showed “Ohio will be eliminated” written. The screenshot was further circulated to other social media platforms and it soon became a meme.
Here, people would post things with captions that read “only in Ohio” and proceed to showcase different things that may not be normally seen by people.
The meme and jokes have made a return
Lately, people have brought back the trend and many have been posting about it on TikTok. For instance, a user recently posted a series of snippets that showed things like a bear falling to the ground, a man fighting while there is no opponent in front of him, and more.
With the comment section filling with “only in Ohio” it is almost like people have been catching up with the jokes and memes.
While some of the videos you might come across can be real it is important to keep in mind that there are several edited clips circulating online as well.
Hence, we would urge you to fact-check them before interacting with them.
Memes are the latest trend on the platform
This is not the first time that memes have given rise to trends that have gone viral on the platform. Prior to this, people had been going gaga over the NyQuil chicken meme which had resulted in people trying out the trend.
As per Know Your Meme, the joke became popular in 2017 when people came across a post made on Chan where a user spoke about making “sleepy chicken” or “bedtime chicken” by using NyQuil to marinate it.
People were quick to try the same and FDA had to release a warning asking people not to copy it.
Speaking about the dangers of it, the FDA noted: “Boiling a medication can make it much more concentrated and change its properties in other ways. Even if you don’t eat the chicken, inhaling the medication’s vapors while cooking could cause high levels of the drugs to enter your body. It could also hurt your lungs. Put simply: Someone could take a dangerously high amount of the cough and cold medicine without even realizing it.”
