Johnny Ruffo, the charismatic talent who captured hearts on the Australian version of ‘The X Factor’ in 2011, has taken his final bow at the age of 35, succumbing to his brave battle against brain cancer.
Following his announcement that brain cancer was terminal more than a year ago, the former “Home and Away” actor, who gained notoriety in 2011 after placing third on the Australian version of the reality show “The X Factor,” passed away.

He was known to some as Chris Harrington, the popular Channel 7 soap opera character he portrayed from 2013 to 2016.
When Ruffo was at his most popular, he was the smooth-talking celebrity who won Dancing With The Stars in 2012. His death at the age of 35 was announced on November 10.
And then there was him, the fiercely determined fighter who defeated brain cancer once, only for it to return. He gained a horde of followers along the way who kept up with his every step, including his frequent social media updates on his recovery from what he called “this s*** disease.”
Love Amidst Medical Trials
Back in July, Ruffo went on his last romantic vacation with his girlfriend while undergoing increasingly intense medical treatment in an effort to prolong his life.
In Queenstown, New Zealand, Ruffo and his companion Tahnee Sims had a wonderful trip and stayed at a five-star lodge for a few nights.
While visiting, the couple kept their fans informed and took a crazy helicopter ride to take in the stunning surroundings.

The sad final image that the Home and Away actor shared on his official Instagram account was posted on August 7.
Tahnee, the star’s longtime girlfriend, had put together a video montage of her partner during his protracted illness.
Ruffo had terrible migraines that occasionally sent him to the hospital, and Tahnee noticed them when they were two years into their relationship.

It was not long before the medical professionals realized Ruffo needed emergency surgery due to a seven-centimeter brain tumor.
Following the eight-hour procedure, Ruffo posted on social media a startling picture of his head sutured together with 27 staples. He stated at the time that although the doctors removed 95% of the tumor, they were forced to leave 5% behind because it was near nerve endings.
He was given the all-clear in 2019 following a course of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. However, the cancer had come back in less than a year. For another four years, Ruffo bravely battled on.
His autobiography, “No Finish Line,” captures the essence of a man who discovered “one thing worth fighting for” and used that to his strength.
Johnny Ruffo demonstrated that a person’s inner strength remains unaffected by the magnitude of their battle, as he bravely navigated the lonely terrain of cancer.
