“The irony of it all, the name of it, is all utter nonsense. It wasn’t just a name, it has a lot of double meanings and it’s so crazy looking back.”

Shane Dawson is back with his latest YouTube docu-series, Jeffree Star’s New WorldAnd the first episode details how the controversial pair were set to collaborate on yet another eyeshadow palette that ended up being .

The Canceled World of Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson It includes footage of Shane answering questions from his friends and family in the present day, as well as footage from early 2020, in which he and Geoffrey are set to make another palette.

Following the success of the Conspiracy Collection, which included the Conspiracy and Mini Controversy palettes, Shane and Geoffrey had actually planned to release a third palette, but the whole thing was scrapped after it was canceled and demonetized due to Shane’s offensive past videos and comments.

“Me and Geoffrey were going to make another palette, we literally made it,” present-day Shane explains in the video. “We don’t have ready-made packaging but we do have an actual palette.”

“That was like February 2020, then obviously everything happened, and on top of that COVID and a lot of other things. I finally said, ‘Let’s not do that, you should take shades, reuse them if you want. It’s too much risk but I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to make anything on the Internet again.'” (Shane, in fact, returned to the Internet after 15 months.)

Shane then teases that he does indeed have the palette, and calls Geoffrey to ask if it would be okay if he showed it. In a voice note discussing the palette, Geoffrey replied: “The irony of it all, the name of it, everything is just craziness. It wasn’t just a name, there’s a lot of double meanings in it and looking back how craziness it is.”

Viewers will have to wait until Part 2 (or possibly Part 3) to find out what the palette was going to be called. But based on Geoffrey’s comment and the name of the first episode? Was the palette meant to be ‘canceled’?

The Canceled World of Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson

Throughout the video, Shane shares old footage from February 2020 (two months after the Conspiracy palette was released), showing him and Jeffree working together to pull out a new palette.

“I’m not expecting it to be as big as the first palette, I know that. Geoffrey does the same thing,” Shane explained. “We’re both just doing this because we want to do it and we’re excited.”

Throughout the video, Shane also teases the colors that were set to be included. There is a shiny black color called ‘Cancer’, and a lighter lilac color called ‘Scorpio’. It featured a range of reds, browns, blondes and nudes, largely similar to Jeffree’s Blood Sugar shades. There was also a group of bright greens in the mix, which were named ‘T Hab’, ‘The Lab’ and ‘Shane Glossin’.

Shane says at one point, “Hope it doesn’t flop.” Thankfully for Shane, it never got a chance to flop, as it never got released.

Elsewhere in the video, Shane rebuts allegations that he and Geoffrey framed the palette as a “money grab” scheme.

Discussing notions that he made a lot of money from the success of the palette, Shane states that he feels that he exaggerated the money aspect of his documentary series, which has led to many misunderstandings.

Shane says, “The truth is, I didn’t make anything like what people think I made.” “People think I made $10 million or $20 million out of it. I didn’t.”

According to Shane, the first palette made about “$30 million whatever”, but only $10 million of that was profitable because it cost about $20 million to make. Shane got about 25% of that profit, and then passed on 25% of his cut to his former editor, Andrew Siwicki.

After taxes, Shane says he made “a huge amount of money” from the experience, but it was not “I can retire now” money.
