17-year-old Ryan Bell was on his way to Area 31 to start his school year when he was in a solo car crash on Monday morning.

Ryan would have been starting his senior year this year.

The Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into a fatal crash that occurred on Monday morning.

Deputies responded to a reported crash on U.S. 40 near County Road 300 West near Stilesville at approximately 6:20 a.m. The incident prompted a call to the Hendricks County Communications Center.

According to the preliminary investigation, a Saturn car was observed traveling in an eastbound direction on U.S. 40. However, for reasons that remain unknown at this time, the vehicle veered off the road and collided with a tree.

In a tragic incident, the driver, who has now been identified as a 17-year-old, was pronounced dead at the scene. The young driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the incident.

In the investigation of the fatal crash, authorities have stated that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have played a role as contributing factors.

Investigation is ongoing.
