Microsoft Reveals Gears of War, Killer Instinct

In a somewhat surprising move during the PC Gamer E3 press conference, Xbox Games head Phil Spencer and Coalition studio manager Rod Fergusson took turns taking the stage to announce that Killer Instinct and Gears of War Ultimate Edition would be making their way to the PC.

These announcements were part of an initiative by Spencer and Microsoft to help show their support for the Windows 10 platform. As a nice bonus, Spencer added that Killer Instinct will have cross-platform play capability between the PC and Xbox One versions, meaning that players can fight each other across both platforms. This seems to be an effort to match Sony with its dedication to making Street Fighter V cross-platform compatible. In an industry such as this, competition between Microsoft and Sony focused around extending to PC is a breath of fresh air, especially compared to the fight for DLC for Call of Duty that the two companies have waged for years now. No release date has been given yet to Killer Instinct on PC.

Gears of War will, once again, be making its way to PC

Likewise, Gears of War Ultimate Edition will also make its way to PC. It will support 4K resolution and Direct X 12. Unlike Killer Instinct, a release window was given for Gears of War Ultimate Edition: sometime later this year.
