Mickey is an American football coach and former player. He was most recently the interim head coach at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Former Nebraska interim football coach Mickey Joseph was arrested in Lincoln on Wednesday. Mickey is charged with third-degree domestic assault and strangulation. According to Lincoln Police, at approximately 1:54 a.m., officers responded to a residence near S 34th Street and Tree Line Drive for a domestic disturbance. According to officials, after an investigation, 54-year-old Joseph was taken into custody at a different place.

“In order to protect the victim in this case and in compliance with Nebraska state law, additional information, including the identity of the victim and any injuries, is not being released,” Lincoln police said in a statement. Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts released a statement Wednesday after Joseph’s arrest became public.

In a statement, Alberts said, “I was made aware of the allegations against Coach Joseph, and given the nature of the allegations and based on university policy, he has been placed on administrative leave. We will not have any additional comment at this time.”

After Scott Frost was fired in September, Joseph posted a 3–6 record as interim coach of the Huskers, including a 24–17 win against Iowa.
