Man lost his youngest daughter in a tragic accident

The OP (original poster) details his family situation in the story. He reveals that he and his wife, who have been together for five years, had four children. His wife’s last pregnancy was a difficult one and the doctor’s found out during her delivery that she had a tumor in her uterus. They did immediate surgery and both her and the baby were healthy after the operation. However, the doctor told them that they could not have any more kids from this point on.

The OP’s wife went through postpartum depression for many months after their last child was born. The pair have two sons and two daughters with their last born being a girl. The OP, who is very close to his elder brother, reached out to him for support while his wife struggled with depression. He notes that his wife became “emotionally preoccupied” in recent months and became “uncautious” with their kids since she was battling depression. However, tragedy struck when the OP was at work one day.

His wife took their kids to the park and their youngest daughter got hit by a car. Despite hours of surgery, the young one did not make it. The OP describes it as the most “traumatic” event of his life. As the couple were healing from the loss of their child, they decided to attend a pool party at his older brother’s house one day. His parents and the whole family were there.

Sister-in-law made a taunting remark about man’s dead daughter

The OP notes his whole family, including his brother, were extremely sympathetic and supportive of him and his wife when they went to the party. However, he notes that his sister-in-law had always disliked them. She often compared their kids to hers. Her mean remarks were often dismissed by his brother and family members. They explained it away saying “She’s pregnant” and she’s being “emotional.”

The kids (both OP’s kids and his brother’s children) were having fun at the pool party and began pranking the adults. However, they took it too far after they damaged the OP’s brand-new Tesla. He took the kids aside and began lecturing them. However, his sister-in-law came in storming and ranted about how he should not be scolding her kids. She said it was the OP’s kids’ fault anyway.

The OP’s wife defended her kids and told off the sister-in-law. Many family members joined in, then the OP’s sister-in-law suddenly spat, “Maybe that’s why your daughter is dead.”

The OP’s wife stormed out crying and he became very angry. He demanded an explanation from his sister-in-law about her comment. His brother and parents took him to a room and started explaining his sister-in-law’s behavior. He demanded that the sister-in-law apologize but everyone just kept defending her.

The OP, who was heartbroken, gave his brother and parents an ultimatum. He threatened to leave the state and go “no contact” with them for the rest of their lives if they did not make her apologize. It took them so long to answer that he left with his kids.

TikTok users weigh in

Most users empathized with the OP and pointed out that the sister-in-law needed to apologize.

“If that happened to me and my family I’d never speak to them again,” said one user.

“There’s no excuse or apology good enough to forgive that comment,” said a second user.

“Wow, she needs to apologize pregnant or not that was uncalled for,” a third person noted.

“Being pregnant doesn’t make you a snide b**ch. She can apologize, it won’t hurt anyone,” a fourth person chimed in.
