GREEN BAY, Wis. – Jordan Love threw his 30th touchdown pass of the season as the Green Bay Packers beat the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

With that, the Packers have positioned themselves to reach the playoffs. All they need is a victory over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Do you know how many quarterbacks in Bears history have thrown 30 touchdown passes in a season?

Zero.

In fact, Love’s 3,843 passing yards and 30 touchdowns would rank No. 1 in Bears history. His 30 touchdowns vs. 11 interceptions would give him the second-best touchdown-to-interception ratio in Bears history. Only Mitchell Trubisky posted a passer rating better than Love’s 93.8.

Love will enter Sunday’s win-or-go-home showdown on an incredible tear. He’s thrown 16 touchdowns vs one interception over the last seven games. He’s tied for first in touchdowns as well as interceptions over that span, and his passer rating of 109.9 is second-best.

“What I think has been the biggest difference is just the trust that I have in him for when it’s not the right look to go out there and not make a bad play worse or get us out of a bad play,” coach Matt LaFleur said.

“And then just him playing the position, I just think he does such a great job of reading whatever concept we have called for what the defense presents and him just going through it and just playing it true. I think he’s done a really good job. Tom Clements deserves a lot of credit for his ability to groom him and the work that Jordan’s put in.”

Love’s 30 touchdown passes this season would rank 20th on Chicago’s all-time career list. Even a mundane second season as the starter would move him past Jim Harbaugh (50) for eighth on their career list.

Love’s career passer rating is 92.0. Trubisky is the Bears’ career leader at 87.2. His counterpart on Sunday, Justin Fields, has a career mark of 82.0 and a 2023 rating of 85.8.

One reason why the Packers have dominated the last three decades of the rivalry is the play of the quarterbacks. Love’s season would be momentous in Bears history. For the Packers, it’s merely promising. In franchise history, Love recorded the 14th season of 30-plus touchdown passes and has a good chance of posting the 12th season of 4,000-plus passing yards. His passer rating barely cracks the top 20.
