Liya Chu: Winner Of The MasterChef Junior Season 8 Got $100,000

The concluding episode of MasterChef Junior Season 8 aired tonight on FOX at 8 pm Eastern Time.

The two people who made it to the final round, Liya Chu and Grayson Price, were tasked with preparing one entrée and one dessert under a time limit of one hour apiece.

The “Coconut Pandan Pana Cotta” and the “Spiced Duck Breast” that Liya made were the dishes that ultimately won over the crowd. She triumphed over the competition to take home the title of Master Chef Junior Season 8 champion, collecting a cash prize of one hundred thousand dollars and several cooking gadgets.

Scarsdale, New York is where Liya got her start in life. When the show was being filmed in 2019, she had just turned 10 years old. Her mother and father are both chefs, and the three of them jointly own and operate two restaurants.

During an interview with FoodSided, Liya disclosed that seeing chefs prepare in the restaurants owned by her parents helped her become aware of the fact that things in the kitchen do not always go according to plan. She explained that this was the reason why she was able to keep her composure when she struggled to make one of her meals while appearing on the show.

Fans of MasterChef Junior react on Twitter as Liya Chu is announced as the winner of Season 8 of the competition.

The dish titled “Ogarashi Dusted Venison Loin with Smoked Whipped Potato, Blackberry Gastrique, and Shishito Peppers” that Grayson prepared tonight was a big hit with the judges. The main dish that Liya Chu prepared, which was titled “Spiced Duck Breast with Scallion Pancakes and Miso Eggplant,” left them feeling the same way.

Because of the errors that Grayson made with the components of his dessert, which was called “Texas Ruby Red Grapefruit Curd with Fennel Pollen Financier and Pea Flower Sorbet,” it was laden with pollen.

In the meantime, the judges had a lot of positive things to say about Liya’s “Panna Cotta.” According to Daphne Oz, the dish was uncomplicated but nevertheless fascinating. While this was going on, Aaron Sanchez was blown away by the “continuous treasure hunt” that was taking place in the flavors of the dessert.

In the end, Liya emerged victorious to claim the title for Season 8. Following the broadcast, a number of MasterChef Junior viewers flocked to Twitter to offer their congratulations to the young contestant on her victory.

A review of the first two semi-finals of MasterChef Junior Season 8

The eighth season of MasterChef Junior debuted with a group of young cooks ranging in age from 8 to 13.

The task for the semi-final round consisted of Grayson, Ivy, and Liya preparing a dish that was in some way influenced by their families, who were there to encourage them.

According to the episode summary:

“In front of a live audience, the three semi-finalists compete against each other while their families and friends surprise them from the audience. The chefs have one hour to produce a dish for each of the judges that is based on memories of their family.”

“Pork Dumplings with Salt and Pepper Blue Prawn and a Spicy Aioli” was the dish that Liya created in the kitchen. The dish was enjoyed by Gordon Ramsay, who said that the dumplings appeared to have been taken from a gourmet magazine. On the other hand, Daphne Oz believed that the dish required some sort of sauce.
