Lance Erskine and Jake Carver Huntington Beach Obituary News – Car Accident: Victims identified in underage DUI crash on 5 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs; Landon Hazelwood arrest & charges.

Authorities in Santa Fe Springs reported that two persons had died after an early-morning crash on the 5 Freeway, involving a 19-year-old man suspected of driving under the influence.

Just after 1:30 a.m., according to California Highway Patrol officials, a semi-truck that was stopped for an unidentified cause on the shoulder of the southbound lanes of the freeway close to the Carmenita Road exit was struck by the driver of a Honda Accord.

Three persons were found inside the Accord by the time CHP officers got there. The man in the driver’s seat was awake and coherent, but the other two passengers were pronounced dead at the site.

20-year-old Fountain Valley resident Lance Paul Erskine and Jake Carver of Huntington Beach were identified as the victims.

After being transported to a nearby hospital, the driver now identified as 19-year-old Landon Hazelwood was arrested and charged with DUI.

Investigation is ongoing.
