Three fatalities are reported by the authorities from a multi-vehicle collision that occurred on State Highway 33 near Cushing on Thursday morning, December 7, 2023.

Around 7:50 a.m., troopers from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were called to the scene when a vehicle in the vicinity of Kings Highway and Main Street crossed the center lane of Highway 33 and collided head-on with another vehicle. Troopers report that three persons died when the driver dozed off while operating the vehicle.

According to Trooper Preston Cox, “as of right now, preliminary investigation shows that one vehicle went across and struck another one head-on.”

For over four and a half hours on Thursday, Highway 33 was blocked and congested as troopers responded and examined the incident.

“Three deaths have been confirmed. I’m not sure which cars they were in,” Cox remarked.

Troopers stated they don’t have many details yet and are still conducting their investigation.

One of the deceased victims was unofficially identified as Kyle Sams.
