Judith Durham was an Australian singer-songwriter who passed away at the age of 79 because of suffering an illness. Because of her singing passion and performance, she became the lead singer in 1963 of the Australian popular folk music group the Seekers.

She was born on 3 July 1943 to William Alexander Cock and Hazel Cock. She had a sibling named Beverley Sheehan. She had been married to Ronald Edgeworth from 1969 to 1994.

Judith Durham was suffering from bronchiectasis which is an obstructive lung disease. She had a little osteoporosis too. Before being diagnosed with lung disease, she suffered from a brain hemorrhage.

Judith Durham Dies Aged 79

Judith Durham passed away on 6 August 2022 in Melbourne at the age of 79 because of some complications from chronic lung disease. She was being treated in palliative care at The Alfred Hospital. Her death news was confirmed by her manager Graham Simpson.

State Funeral For Judith Durham

Judith Durham’s family was offered a state funeral in Victoria for her and her family accepted it. The victorian premier announced on 8 August 2022’s afternoon on Twitter that Judith would be farewelled with a state service. Andrews wrote,

“I’ve spoken with Judith Durham’s family today and I’m pleased they have accepted the offer of a state funeral to honor the life and contribution of a true icon of Australian music.”

Judith Durham was battling lung disease and was being treated in a private hospital. She died because of her lung disease.
