Josephine “Jobie” Hereford Death News: In Loving Memory of Providence College Student, Josephine Hereford Died from Cancer

Josephine “Jobie” Hereford Obituary; Josephine “Jobie” Hereford, age 23, died on August 11, 2023, at her Denver, Colorado, residence. Months after receiving a diagnosis of a brain tumour in June 2021, she was declared dead.

On Saturday, September 30, during Homecoming Weekend, she will be remembered by her classmates and friends at a memorial mass that will be conducted at St. Dominic Chapel. She was mourned by her family, friends, and Providence College students.

Who was Josephine “Jobie” Hereford?

Jobie was a women’s and gender studies major who began her studies at Providence College in September 2019 as a member of the Class of 2023. The diagnosis of a brain tumour in June 2021 and an ensuing year of surgeries, radiation, medication, and rehabilitation caused her to miss her junior year, but she lobbied her family to re-enter PC in August 2022 with plans to graduate in May 2024. She persevered through the semester until worsening symptoms and the tumor’s recurrence forced her to return home.

At the memorial service for Jobie that was held on August 27 at her high school, Denver Academy in Colorado, her brother, Niko Hereford, spoke about how difficult it was to lose his sister just when she was blossoming into adulthood with zest for all that was to come. He said that it was terrible to lose her at a time when she was excited for all that was to come.
