A man who died in a head-on collision close to Rio Hondo on Thanksgiving morning has been identified by officials.
Jorge Villanueva, 42, of Rio Hondo, was killed in the crash on FM 106 near Nelson Road on Thursday just after 10 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to the DPS, the driver of a brown Chevrolet Silverado attempted to pass another eastbound car and struck a brown Saturn Outlook head-on as it was driving west.
Villanueva passed away at the scene while operating the Saturn.
After being transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center, the truck driver was airlifted to DHR Health in Edinburg.
Investigation is ongoing.
