Lil Nas X, his ex-boyfriend Yai Ariza and the latter’s “wife” took the drama from his hit song ‘That’s What I Want’ to the tabloid talk show and we couldn’t get enough of it. However, some are wondering if Maury is staged, for the latest episode blurred the line between reality and fantasy.

The last episode was marked by several intriguing factors, including cheating allegations, a paternity test, and a mini striptease.

But, how real was all of this?

Is Maury staged?

Lil Nas X’s rather dramatic feature on the latest episode of ‘Maury’ is definitely making people wonder if the show is real or not, but the question has been haunting the viewers for a long time.

When the show’s host Maury Povich was posed with the same question, asking if the guests and their stories are real, he vouched for his show confidently.

He told PEOPLE in 2017, “Of course. This is not Springer. Jerry and I have known each other a long time and I love his honesty: He says his show is wrestling. My show is not wrestling.”

“My show is for real, and these people, we check them out. I operate like a news room. We have seven production teams and they look at these stories, they check them out back in their hometowns, they talk to their friends, they talk to their family members. This is real stuff.” he added further.

Was Lil Nas X’s episode with his ex-boyfriend real?

Well, the host said neither his show nor the guests on it are fake. But, that didn’t apply to the latest episode with Lil Nas X.

Towards the end of the segment, the viewers were presented with a disclaimer that said the Montero segment was a collaboration between Lil Nas X and the ‘Maury’ show “for entertainment purposes.”

It further stated, “The storyline is loosely based on the music video ‘That’s What I Want’ by Lil Nas X.”
