Fact: There’s nothing more annoying than waking up with a massive pimple—especially around that time of the month. And for anyone who’s attempted to cover up a breakout during the summer, you already know all too well about the struggle that comes with applying concealer to oily, sweaty skin. A small dab of makeup on top of that zit just slides right off it, awkwardly gathering around the base for a halo-like ring that just draws more attention to the wickedly red spot.

However, before you toss your concealer aside and decide to call off all pending social plans indefinitely, take a minute to read our foolproof concealment plan courtesy of celebrity makeup artist Daniel Martin, whose clients include Meghan Markle and Jessica Alba. How do we know it works? We made our editor, Lindsay—who, lucky her, was having a struggle-is-real moment at the office—try it out. All it takes is a few easy steps to guarantee your makeup won’t budge, even in sweltering 90-degree heat.

The Essentials

Purell, Glossier Stretch Concealer in Light ($18, glossier.com), Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in Color 3.75 ($64, sephora.com), Sephora Collection Confetti Mini Sponge ($12 for a set of 5, sephora.com), and Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion ($24, ulta.com)

Here’s what you’ll need to start: hand sanitizer, concealer, foundation, a mini makeup sponge, and eyeshadow primer (this is major key!).

Green concealer may seem like an odd choice but it can actually neutralize the redness of pimples and acne. Complementary colors are colors that fall on opposite sides of the color wheel. When used together, these colors cancel each other out. The color that falls opposite red on the color wheel is green. If you have a reddish colored pimple, green concealer can neutralize the shade and help you successfully cover up the blemish. There’s nothing in the world quite like that feeling of panic and desperation when a pimple rears its ugly white head on your face. And while there are a LOT of things you can do on the fly to help calm your complexion—spot treatments, hydrocortisone cream, voodoo charms, crying—none of these can really erase the zit instantaneously.

Here’s the thing: With the right makeup tips and tricks, you can make your pimples magically disappear—without resorting to any shady popping tricks or actual witchcraft. So, before you go picking and popping, consider giving Smith & Cult Beauty Ambassador and celebrity makeup artist, Elena Miglino’s step-by-step pimple cover-up process a try.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Since makeup can’t stick to an open wound, let alone a bulging pimple that’s about to burst, the first thing you have to do is dry out the blemish as much as possible.

“An oldie but goodie, I start with toothpaste overnight,” says Miglino. “I’ve been doing this since I was a kid and I swear by it.”

Be warned—toothpaste can be REALLY drying. Other, safer options: Dotting on a benzoyl peroxide spot treatment, or trying a hydrocolloid patch (like Mighty Patch or Peace Out Acne), which absorbs pus and helps flatten and heal the blemish.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

The next morning, your zit will likely be smaller and less rageful. At this point, remove your spot treatment and clean your face as normal, Miglino says. This will ensure that you don’t have any oil or other residue on your face coming between you and your makeup.

“I cleanse the skin with a cotton round and Bioderma micellar water,” says Miglino. She says it gets you clean without leaving behind any oily residue (and it’s a favorite of makeup artists everywhere).

But def be gentle when washing—you don’t want to risk re-opening the pimple!

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

When it comes to zits, “less is more,” says Miglino. “The more makeup you put on it, the more attention you will attract to it.” Which is obvs the last thing you’re going for here.

To keep cover-up to a bare minimum, Miglino recommends using a one-and-done heavy, creamy concealer like Tarte Shape Tape that will cover the pimple in one go. She says that choosing a thicker formula rather than a water-based one will help your concealer stick—preventing a mid-day slip that will expose your pimple to the world.

“First I put concealer right on the target area,” says Miglino. “Then I spread it with my brush, but only right around the pimple, to help camouflage it in with the rest of my skin.” Let the concealer sit for a minute to set.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

The next step to ensuring that your cover up looks #flawless? Blending. “With my same brush I start to gently blend the concealer. You want to be careful to not irritate the pimple—soft touches work best,” says Miglino.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Her final step—a touch of pressed powder to help lock in the coverage. “I like this better than a translucent powder because I feel like it has that little extra bit of coverage that I need,” says Miglino. “I like to apply this product with a fluffy powder brush, because I can get it to look as natural as possible on my skin.”

And just like that, you can show your pimple who’s boss.

Hey I saw the word horses so I clicked Lol! Anyway, er green eyeshadow? Who told you that! It will literally make your lips go green! Either use some foundation and give it a more matte finish with some powder, or make your own concealer powder and face cream. Um, don’t squeeze it, will make it redder. Because it’s near your lips, when doing make up try and keep the attention of your lips as much as possible, because people will then notice your lips, then drawing attention to the spot. It’s not the end of the world, spots come and go. Try not to irritate it too much, cover it up as much as you can and you’ll be fine.

Green cancels red. If you mix some sage colored eyeshadow with a little foundation and facecream you can make a decent concealer. First things first. Ice it, so the swelling goes down. Then moisturize, then conceal with a green base. Followed by a skin tone color. Hope this helps.

Put on green concealer, then apply your skin tone liquid concealer over it.

Depending upon the size of the acne you need to cover up take small amount of concealer on back of your palm or any plastic palette. If you have few acne to cover up, I advise you to go one at a time to avoid the wastage of product as concealer may dry quickly.

Take a tiny bit of green color eyeshadow beside the concealer.

Concealer and Green Shadow

Now mix the two by mixing smallest quantity of green into the concealer and darken as per requirement. You can use a Q-tip or a Concealer Brush or your finger. Stick to the basic rule – for darker red color of acne You need a little extra green color, and lighter red colored acne will require lighter colored corrector. But the thumb rule of mixing green color to the concealer is that the color green should make the concealer green colored. Don’t add too little of eyeshadow that it doesn’t show up and turn the concealer green.

    • Having them mixed together, now dab the corrector the corrector in a small quantity directly on the tip of the acne. You can use a Q-tip or a brush for precise application.

    • Now with your finger tip dab the product and push it on the skin and blend it on the edges. You will notice that the green will immediately take away all the redness.
    • It’s time to hide the green colored patch. Apply your regular skin colored concealer on top of this green patch with a light hand. Remember to just dab the product rather than tucking and pulling. Dabbing will make a layer over of concealer OVER the corrector. Tucking, pulling and blending with MIX the corrector and concealer. I know people will be very skeptical of using an eyeshadow and mixing it with concealer. But I will urge you to try this once at home. If you use a good concealer, the corrector isn’t going anywhere. And moreover try it out on day a day you are not going out, Who knows you might just like it. For me, It really saved me few bucks, as green corrector isn’t available easily and moreover considering the price tag I would rather stick to using an eyeshadow. And it has never failed me, I wear it often when I breakout and it never gets noticed.

Notice how the Redness and Appearance of acne has vanished, The tiny hint of green still visible will be washed away when foundation is applied.

To make it a bit smaller, use really hot water on the tip of a Q-tip and hold it on the zit for a few seconds. Then, touch is with the tip of an ice cube for about 30 seconds. This helps the inflammation go down.

Next, treat it using a dab of acne medicine on the zit (saylinic acid or benzyl peroxide). When that is dry, put a dot of concealer (such as Cover Girl fresh complexion concealer) on the zit. Pat with your finger until it is fully covered and the concealer matches your skin color. You may need one more layer of concealer to fully cover it.

Finally, cover with a bit of pressed or loose powder to set.

How about one of those little round band-aids if it is really bad.

If not, you need a little make-up called concealer. It will usually come in something that looks like a tube or a pen. It will be a shade lighter than make-up but skin toned. Clean the pimple. Dab a little concealer on it (not too much, cause it just comes off instead of adding more), then dab a little powder over the concealer. That “sets” it. And remember, no one can see the pimple as well as you & really no one cares as much as you either :-).

Make up will only make your pimples worse, because it doesnt allow your skin to breath. I suggest you get rid of your pimples so that you can be confident with your own natural face. Here, maybe you should try using these great home remedies, Using Lemon is the best thing to reduce the marks and blemishes on the skin. It can be applied directly on the skin. You can also rub a lemon peel on the skin with a little sugar on it or without the sugar. After rubbing it leave it on the skin for at least 10 minutes. If you practice this regularly you can reduce the scars/marks finely. Grate potatoes, wrap them in a cloth and take out the juice. Mix few drops of lemon juice and honey to it and apply it on your face. If you don’t want to apply it all over the face then apply only on the marks. Wash off after 20 minutes. (Potato has bleaching agents, which reduces the blemishes.) Make a mixture of tomato juice and lemon juice. You can fill it in a bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. You can apply this mixture on your face daily with a cotton ball. Honey added in milk powder helps in reducing the blemishes. If you have real dark blemishes on the skin make a powder of dry lemon peels and orange peels. Drinking lots of water to keep the skin hydrate and detoxified. Good Luck =)

omg its just a pimple no prob. dont put makeup on it cause it will just stay longer use like clearasil or Oxy on the spot treatment and it will go away faster and put astringent to dry it out then i know people tell u its bad to pop pimples and pick at them cause sometimes they leave scars or make the area red but i do it all the time and they go away fast enough because u r getting the puss out of the pimple. but if its like on the side of ur head or something u can cover it up with hair or something.

but its really no big deal it seems like every one is lookn but they really dont care everybody gets them they r prob. worrying about there own pimple.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

You’re happily shopping the cosmetic section of the department store when you come across a rather strange product: green makeup concealer. You can’t imagine why anyone would want to put green makeup on their skin.

What is that green makeup concealer, and why is it used?

Great for Covering Pimples and Inflamed Acne

Despite its unusual color (or rather, because of it) green concealer can be the best friend of anyone with a pimple. Green concealers are often called color correctors because that’s exactly what they do.

Green concealer, when used correctly, can tone down the redness from inflamed pimples and help camouflage breakouts.

Unless you’re an artist, you may be perplexed exactly how this would work. To understand, look at a painter’s color wheel. Red and green are complementary colors, meaning they’re directly opposite each other on the color wheel.

Because they’re direct opposites, these two colors counteract each other (at least when we’re talking skin and makeup. Painters may have a completely different experience).

Regardless, green color correctors will counteract redness in the skin, whether it be from a ruddy complexion, rosacea, or inflamed pimples and acne.

How to Apply Green Color Correctors

Of course, you don’t need to understand color theory to know it works. All you really need to know is how to apply this makeup concealer correctly.

    Step 1: Apply your foundation.

If you’re wearing a liquid or cream-based foundation, apply that first. Otherwise, the concealer might be rubbed off while you’re putting on your foundation.

Step 2: Apply the green color corrector with a dabbing motion.

Apply a small amount of green color corrector to an inflamed blemish with a small makeup brush or cotton swab. Dab or tap onto the skin. Don’t rub. Rubbing can aggravate the pimple and make it look redder.

If you’re covering more than one or two pimples, it’s easier to apply your concealer with a dampened makeup sponge. Lightly dab over the entire area to cover.

    Step 3: Blend, blend, blend.

The trick to get your green color corrector looking natural, rather than a St. Patrick’s Day decoration gone bad, is to really blend it out. Using your makeup sponge (or even your clean finger for single pimples) gently blend by patting over the area.

Continue blending using a tapping or patting motion until it is completely blended. You’ll know you’re done when the green tone “disappears” into your skin.

Step 4: Apply a concealer and powder.

For a bit more coverage, apply a second concealer that matches your skin tone. Apply this concealer directly over the green color corrector.

Finish off with a light dusting of translucent powder and you’re set to go.

Don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t look perfect the first time, especially if you’re not used to wearing makeup. After a time or two practicing, you’ll be able to apply your green color corrector and it will look completely natural.

Once you’ve used it, you’ll never want to be without it again.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Isn’t it just like a pimple to appear when you least expect one–like the night before a big event or blind date? You may never master the skills of flawlessly contouring and highlighting your face, but every woman should know the ins and outs of covering a pimple with makeup. Hiding a glaring red blemish can be tricky, but if you have the right products on hand (and it takes just four must-have cosmetics to do the trick), makeup artist Molly Leahy of Blushing Brides says every woman can fake perfect skin. Leahy provides a simple five-step guide to covering a pimple and getting on with your life.

    1. Start with foundation. A lot of the redness you’re seeing can be eliminated right off the bat by applying a foundation that matches your skin tone. They key? Blending until it looks natural. “This will take away a lot of the redness from your face and let you see where the more prominent spots are,” Leahy says.

    2. Apply a cream color corrector. You know all of those rainbow-colored cream concealers that you see in the beauty aisles that remind you of an artist’s palette? They’re ideal for times when your skin is misbehaving. “If your pimples are particularly red or large, use a cream color corrector in a green shade because green cancels out red,” Leahy says. “To make sure that you are not turning your face green use a small eyeliner brush (not angled) to press the corrector onto the spot.”

    3. Use powder. Let the cream corrector sit for a minute to sink into the skin or press a powder over the top, Leahy says. You can skip this step if you didn’t need a corrector to cancel out the redness on your face.

    4. Conceal. Concealer is an absolute must here. Use a long wear, high coverage concealer (Leahy’s favorite is MAC Pro Longwear Concealer) and a duo fiber concealer brush (like MAC 287 Duo Fibre Eyeshadow Brush) and press a small amount of concealer onto the spot. Your application method is crucial if you want to nail the art of concealing a pimple. “I like duo fiber because it covers in a concentrated area, but blends beautifully,” Leahy says. “It is important to press and not wipe or rub or you will take away all the makeup off the spot. Use your ring finger to press and blend the area around the pimple without actually touching the spot so you don’t disturb the makeup.”

    5. Finish with a powder. You’re almost finished! Your final step is to simply press a translucent or skin colored powder over the top of the spot gently to set it, Leahy says.

Today beautiful blogger Nancy of Miss Nancy’s Fancies shows step-by-step how she covers pimples with a combination of concealers.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red PimpleLately I’ve been getting different kinds of breakouts — from small zits to big cystic acne — and after a lot of trial and error I came up with a system of different ways to conceal different types of breakouts. Here is how I conceal my blemishes with a combination of green concealer, cream concealer, mineral concealer, and mineral foundation.

When I took these pictures I had an active pimple (A), scars (S), and pink bumps (B) on my cheek. The active pimple was bumpy, but the scars were flat.

For active pimples I like to use a green concealer first, since my pimples tend to be very red, and using a cream concealer alone doesn’t cover up the redness. Here I’m using Physicians Formula Gentle Cover Concealer in Cover Green ($6).

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

I use a concealer brush to apply cream concealer over the scars, only on the discoloration. Using a small concealer brush makes the application very precise, which is important here because we only want to conceal the discoloration and not the skin around it. Here I’m using Laura Mercier Secret Camoulage/Secret Concealer in SC-2 and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Brush ($26).

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Then we apply the same cream concealer over the green concealer on the active pimple. The green covers the redness, and the cream concealer covers the actual pimple.

The next step is to set the concealer with powder, which ensures that the concealer stays on all day. For this I’m using the Sonia Kashuk Blending Brush ($6) and bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Concealer in Bisque ($18). The bareMinerals Multi-Tasking Concealer is very pigmented, and applying it with a soft blending brush ensures that we don’t apply too much.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Next, we proceed to apply mineral foundation all over the face. The pink bumps don’t need to be concealed first because mineral foundation already has enough coverage. To apply mineral foundation we use the “press and roll” method for heavier coverage over the blemished areas. For other areas on the face, simply buff and swirl the foundation all over.

And that’s it! The bumps are still there, but they’re the same color as the rest of the skin. Now we can proceed to apply our bronzer/blush and eye makeup. 🙂

How To Cover Pimples and Scars with a Combination of Concealers / Originally published November 12th, 2010

Of course it’s always important to embrace natural beauty. But sometimes we just want a flawless, made-up look — and that includes learning how to use color correctors. And when it comes to nit-picking and covering imperfections, layering on the foundation and concealer is not the way to go. Because let’s be honest: while it happens to the best of us from time to time, cake face is never the goal.

The first step to avoid having to cake on the makeup is a great skincare regimen. That means keeping up with cleansing, treating, and moisturizing. The second step is knowing how to use color correctors. Knowing what types and colors of products to use to counteract your personal concerns will help you use less makeup than you might have otherwise. (And knowing how this works can even help make your teeth appear whiter.)

Generally speaking, colors that are opposite from one another on the color wheel will help cancel the other out. These pairs are: red and green, orange and blue, and yellow and purple. So once you know what you want to correct, you’re ready to step up your makeup game and play with even more colors. Here are the ones you might want to try:

    Orange

Orange correctors are best for darker skin tones. These help to both camouflage scarring due to acne or sun spots while also making skin appear more even and radiant. Because these benefit the whole face rather than just targeted areas, look for an orange corrector in the form of a primer or powder.

    Peach/Salmon

Peach or salmon toned correctors work best for lighter skin tones prone to visible veins and/or dark under-eye circles. This is because these shades best counteract blue tones. These shades generally perform best as a concealer or powder as blue tones tend to appear in smaller areas.

    Yellow

Yellow correctors are best for those with lighter complexions prone to vein exposure, dark under-eye circles, or slight redness. However, this will not correct either problem as well as peach and green concealers, respectively. This type can work well as a primer, concealer, or powder depending on the type of coverage desired.

    Green

Green correctors are best for light to medium skin tones prone to rosacea or acne. This type of corrector will perform best as a primer or concealer as a powder will generally not provide enough coverage.

    Lavender

Lavender correctors are best for those with more yellow skin tones, as it helps remove some of the sallowness and brightens the complexion. These work best in the form of a primer or powder as a concealer will generally be too heavy for the type of correction this color provides.

Imagine this, you have been looking forward to this occasion for weeks or months now. Perhaps it is a long overdue night out with your friends. The birthday party of your college buddies. It could even be a date with bae. You have already taken mental notes of how you want everything to pan out. You already chose your outfit, your overall look and so on.

Suddenly, you check the mirror and there it is. A tiny little detail that feels like the reason everything is going to be ruined because really, how exactly do you cover up a pimple flawlessly? Worry not. We completely understand how you feel. Who would not want to look perfect during an event you have been waiting for, right? We are not quite sure how you went past it the previous times. Nonetheless, we are here to provide you with a solution should you find yourself in the same situation again.

For starters, there are a few ways ways you can choose to go about this zit sitch : find out how to cover pimples naturally, find out how to cover acne with makeup and do so naturally or use a pimple cover up patch. We will be discussing each in just a short while. In the meantime, let us talk a little bit about why these little things suddenly pop out on your face or other parts of your body, shall we?

Pimples find their way into your face sebaceous glands (or oil glands, in simplest terms) get clogged and infected. This leads to red lesions that are often swollen and filled with pus. They are sometimes referred to as zits but they are part and parcel of the same thing – acne. While that sounds a little bad and scary – it is actually quite normal. You’re probably thinking : “Okay, cool. Fine, it is normal. But I do not want it on my face!”

We get it. That is why we have come up with a list of the most important hacks to cover those pimples and hopefully, it will be the only hacks you will be needing.

How to Cover Acne With MakeUp Naturally

First, you need to understand that there is just no way to cover pimples “naturally” – because doing so naturally would mean waiting it out until it dries up. Alternatively, here are some tricks that you could use :

    • DO NOT, at all costs, prick your pimples. This will just make matters even worse! Trust us, it will not be pretty. That said, make sure to be as gentle as possible when handling your pimple.
    • For white heads, use a concealer with a really, really thick consistency – much like a putty. Just a heads up, it is highly likely that you will find this kind of concealer in a pot or jar and not in a wand packaging. Once you have found it, use an adequately sized eye shadow brush and be as targeted as possible. If you touch the good skin around it, all the more it will make the white head obvious. Once you’re done covering, tap it lightly and carefully so it does not look tall. You can also put a bit of translucent powder to seal the deal.
    • For really, really, really red one. Okay, full-disclosure : there is no single formula to covering these kinds of little monsters. However, here is a rule of thumb : Use toned concealers in the shade of greens, blues and occasionally purple. Just play around with these colors – normally, the green tone works best. Like we have mentioned earlier, the key is to be as precise as possible. Once it has been covered, use a thin formula concealer in your skin tone or cover it up with your foundation.
    • For flaky, dry-and-almost-dead ones. These are tricky ones too! Sometimes, it is so easy to just cover them up without a fuss using makeup. Other times, they are just too stubborn. The key is to hydrate your skin first. Put a very small amount of your trusty moisturizer and dab it on the inflamed part. After which, use a regular concealer, ideally with moisturizing powers, to cover it up and then finish with face powder.
    • For cystic outbreaks. Hold up. You gotta start off with a compress – it could be cold or warm. It will soothe the soreness while killing the bacteria. Next step is to steer clear from the heavy, thickly formulated concealer and use a tinted moisturizer and lightweight concealer instead. Trust us, you will thank us for it later on.
    • On the other hand, to save yourself from all the stress – you can opt to use a pimple cover up patch. These patches work by protecting the sit from further dirt while absorbing the gunk it contains. Leave it for a day or so and the next thing you know, it has flattened out and it is gone!

We hope these tips help. At the end of the day, remember that no matter how good the fix is, it is always the best to take out the root of the problem. By that, we mean love your skin a little extra and we are sure it will love you back!

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Shauna Willetts, 24, was diagnosed with rosacea by a dermatologist two years ago. “My first winter living in New York City, I woke up one morning and my face was covered in red, irritated, puss-filled spots,” she tells SELF. “I’ve always had acne, but this was something I hadn’t experienced before, and it took quite the toll on my confidence.” Shauna’s experience is very common; according to the National Rosacea Society, about 16 million Americans deal with this skin condition. And while there are medications and creams you can use to treat rosacea, there is no cure.

Ask anyone who has rosacea, and they’ll tell you it’s a temperamental condition—you never know when you’re going to wake up with red patches, although people with rosacea often are able to manage the condition a little bit by learning their personal triggers and trying to avoid them. For example, Shauna says red wine, caffeine, and winter wind are all things that can cause her face to turn red and irritated. But for her, the primary culprit is emotional. “My main trigger is anxiety, which I’m told is normal. If I’m anxious or nervous and my face blushes, it gets really irritated and starts to feel hot to the touch and stays red,” she says.

Emotional triggers like anxiety are pretty tough to avoid. You never know when a tight deadline or a difficult commute is going to cause unexpected stress. In these cases, some people with rosacea turn to makeup, in addition to prescription creams, to cover and treat the visible signs of a flare-up.

Shauna’s regular makeup routine is pretty no-fuss. Occasionally, she’ll apply a light CC cream to conceal any bright red spots, but in general, she doesn’t wear makeup at all. But she told us she was willing to give something a little more involved a try, so we asked her to come in and learn color-correcting and concealing tricks from Make Up For Ever Executive Director of Education and Artistry Patrick Eichler.

Ahead, get a step-by-step tutorial on how to cover up redness and rosacea from a pro.

First, apply a soothing, redness-canceling primer like the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Redness Correcting Primer ($37). According to Eichler, green is the best color primer to cancel out redness (since they are complementary colors). Don’t worry—the green tint will pretty much disappear on your skin once you rub it in.

Get rid of ruddiness. and get on with your day.

Whether you’re dealing with rosacea, inflammation, or a complexion that leans to “too-flushed,” the struggle is

when you have 24/7 redness. If the discoloration won’t quit — and you’re going through buckets of foundation on the reg — here’s some game-changing news. There’s a smarter way to get rid of redness, and it involves just four so-easy steps. Makeup artist Mark Edio shows how to hide the unwanted hue on beauty blogger Mariann Yip without spackling on makeup.

    Step 1: Go Green

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Your new BFF should be green color corrector, because it neutralizes the redness in your skin. If you consider the basic color wheel, green lies opposite red, so the shades visually cancel one another out. And you only need a little to cover a lot.

    Step 2: Begin Blending

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Skeptical? NBD if you need to see it to believe it. Lightly draw Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Pen in Green onto the most concentrated areas of redness, adding more only as needed. Then, use a damp blending sponge to diffuse the color corrector across your skin.

    Step 3: Follow with Foundation

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

You’ve basically swapped your red skin for a slight green tint, so you still need foundation — just way less of it than usual. Use a damp brush to pat on a layer of your go-to formula. Wetting your brush helps to blend the two products you’ve just used together without creating streaks, says Edio. Touch up with concealer if you need it, but keep it light if you can.

    Step 4: Set Your Skin

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Now that your skin looks pretty much perfect, dust a translucent setting powder all over. If you want a dewy finish and even more staying power for your makeup (so, basically all of us) spritz on a hydrating mist before you head out. It’ll give your skin a healthy, luminous sheen — with zero redness in sight. Glow #goals.

You may have a large scar on your face as the result of an injury or medical condition. Facial scars are typically red or pink in color. The area may also have a shiny appearance. Cosmetics, applied correctly, give you an effective way to cover facial scars. Most scars fade six to 18 months after the injury. Covering up scars during this time will minimize their appearance during the healing process.

Choose a green-tinted concealer to get rid of the scar’s redness. Green concealer is available at most makeup counters and drugstores. Apply a light layer of the product to the facial scar using a makeup sponge. This will prevent bacteria transfer from your fingers to the skin.

Lightly apply a regular concealer over the facial scar next. Pour concealer onto a clean makeup sponge. Lightly blend the concealer over and around the scarred area. Avoid using too much concealer, which can create a caked look.

Apply foundation to your face with a makeup sponge. Blend the product over your entire face to avoid creating unnatural makeup lines. Carefully blend the makeup into the your jawline.

Apply a matte powder to set the makeup. Use a loose power with a large brush and blend the powder into the skin with a circular motion. Brushing the powder over the facial scar will make the scar’s appearance less noticeable.

Check your makeup application in the mirror and fix it as necessary.

If your scar’s appearance hasn’t improved within 18 months, talk with your dermatologist. She can recommend treatments such as laser light therapy, dermabrasion or a punch graft procedure to minimize the appearance of your facial scar.

    Warning

Protect your scar from sun exposure. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher on your skin. Some makeup has sunscreen built in or you can purchase it separately and apply before makeup.

Hello and welcome to another hot and fresh take on ITG’s personal nemesis: the pimple. Like any nemesis, the pimple gets talked about a lot ’round these parts—how to get it to leave, how to get it to stop being so dramatic and red, how to stop it from scarring you, both physically and emotionally. But now there’s something else to consider—how do you conceal a pimple? You don’t have to, of course, but isn’t it nice to to know how, in case you want to? Knowledge is power, folks, and six of ITG’s favorite makeup artists chipped in for a pimple-covering masterclass. So get your pencils ready and pay attention. The enemy is within and you’re going need to learn a few tricks to stop it from stealing the show that is your skin.

    The makeup artists

    Lesson #1—Skincare first

Marie-Josée Leduc: “Extra TLC is needed when working with acne-prone skin. A witch hazel-based toner is a super important step because toner has antiseptic qualities to take away bacteria that exacerbates breakouts. After toner, I massage in a few drops of Rose Serum to give the skin an extra protective layer. This is all accomplished in a few minutes.”

Grace Ahn: “I wet a Q-tip with Glossier Solution and make small, circular motions to gently exfoliate any flakes or dead skin off the blemish.”

Lesson #2—It’s all about the base

Shayna Goldberg: “First I’ll go in with a light primer to help balance the texture.”

Amy Strozzi: “I like to do foundation before concealer—it provides some coverage and a good base to hold the concealer in place without it sticking to certain areas. When a spot is inflamed and red, I like to color correct the area with either a touch of green or yellow, whichever works best for the skin tone. A tiny amount using a precise brush will cut the tone—let it set for a moment before you layer your concealer over it.”

Pati Dubroff: “A fuller coverage foundation applied very sparingly with a brush should lay down a bit of initial coverage.”

Benjamin Puckey: “Personally, I find that I get a more natural look when I use concealers without foundation underneath. Instead, I layer it over a gel moisturizer like Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Jelly.”

    Lesson #3—Choose the right formula…

Benjamin: “The skin on an acne lesion is usually shiny and raised, which is why it doesn’t hold on to product very well. Anything with an oil base will just slide off—instead, look for a concealer with a silicone base. Silicone oil evaporates, leaving your concealer firmly in place.”

Pati: “If the blemish has a lot of dryness around it, I like to use the Glossier concealer because it has some moisture and still gives great coverage. But for very stubborn spots, I use a dry, full coverage concealer like Clé de Peau’s.”

Shayna: “Clé De Peau’s concealer is matte and opaque, and it really behaves in terms of coverage.”

Amy: “I like to use Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage because each palette has a neutral shade and a correction shade.”

Pati: “A palette that includes two tones of concealer like Secret Camouflage can be really helpful when someone has uneven skin tone, because you can mix to them to match.”

Grace: “I use Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer for most blemishes, but for intense blemishes I use Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer.”

Benjamin: “A trusted favorite of mine is the Estée Lauder Double Wear Maximum Cover Foundation used as a concealer, though I also love the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer—they both grip onto skin and stay put.”

Pati: “Always make sure that the concealer is the same shade as the cheek.”

    Lesson #4—Get the right tools

Benjamin: “Use the back of your hand as a palette to keep acne bacteria from getting into your concealer.”

Grace: “It’s important to never use a rubbing motion—you want the concealer to be concentrated just on the blemish. A brush like Sigma F68 is good for precision.”

Amy: “Having a narrow, pointed brush is key for getting exact coverage on the actual spot.”

Benjamin: “You can also find the best brushes at the art supply store.”

Shayna: “I like using my fingers to press the concealer into place.”

Amy: “Then use a clean, small smudge brush to feather out the edges of the concealer on to the skin so it blends.”

    Lesson #5—Finish it off

Shayna: “I’ll sometimes use a fluffy eyeshadow brush for a light dusting of powder, like Charlotte Tilbury’s Air Brush Flawless Finish, on the spot.”

Amy: “A translucent powder with no sheen will set the concealer. Both Laura Mercier and Dior make fantastic translucent powders—a good one is finely milled and disappears on the skin. But if the spot is very inflamed and still shows red, I use a yellow-toned powder from Bobbi Brown.”

Marie-Josée: “When it comes to applying makeup after, like blush, I’m very careful to use an extra soft brush so I won’t remove any foundation.”

    Benjamin: “It’s precision work.”

Pati: “Going spot by spot is time consuming, but really makes a difference.”

Shayna: “My goal is always to only use as much as necessary, so skin stays looking like skin.”

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Whether it’s on your face or on your body, a scar can sometimes make you feel self-conscious. But that doesn’t mean you can’t fake flawless skin for a special event — or every day. With makeup, you can easily hide a scar. All it takes is the right products and proper techniques.

    Prime Time

Scars often have a different texture from the rest of your skin, which makes them stand out. Foundation and concealer can hide redness and other hyper-pigmentation associated with scarring, but they can’t do anything to conceal uneven texture. To help smooth a scarred area, start with a foundation primer. Choose a silicone-based formula that can fill in the scar so your skin’s texture appears more even. For the most effective application, pat a small amount of the primer over the scar.

    Color Correct

Before applying foundation and concealer, start with a color corrector. These products are similar to concealers in texture and consistency, but they come in shades such as green, yellow and lavender. These tints help counteract skin discolorations based on the color wheel. If your scar is red, choose a green corrector, because green and red are opposite one another on the color wheel. For a scar that has purple or blue undertones, opt for a yellow corrector. If your scar features yellow bruising, use a lavender corrector. Just pat the corrector over the scar with your finger to carefully work it into the skin.

    Blend In

Cover color corrector with the right concealer. A thick, creamy formula typically works best to conceal scarring and smooth the texture. To make sure your concealer stay in place no matter how hot or damp the weather, choose a water-resistant formula. Use your finger to carefully pat the concealer in place. If you’re dealing with a very small scar, use a brush for more precision.

    Set It

Set your concealer with a translucent powder to lock it in place. Powder is lightweight and adds no additional color to the spot. Choose a loose, or apply pressed powder for better coverage. Use a fluffy brush to gently tap the powder over the scar so you don’t disturb the corrector and concealer that you’ve already applied.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Whether they popped up due to hormones or seemingly out of the middle of nowhere, pimples are a fact of life — at all ages. Even if you follow a strict skin-care routine to keep breakouts at bay, every once in a while a blemish or two will find a home on your face. If you want to embrace your spots, we support you. But if you’d rather cover them up, a full-coverage concealer is usually the way to go. That said, concealer isn’t the only way to cover acne. Ahead, we’re sharing how to hide pimples sans concealer.

    What Is Adult Acne?

Before we dive into how to cover up acne without concealer, let’s first discuss why you may be getting blemishes after puberty. Many people wrongly assume that pimples are reserved for hormonal teens. Adults can get acne, too — even if they never dealt with pimples during their adolescence. While teenage acne is most often caused by excess oil and clogged pores, adult acne is typically caused by hormonal fluctuations, a blockage of oil, bacteria, stress or pollution-driven flare-ups. Adult acne is cyclical in nature and presents itself most often as papules, pustules and cysts around the mouth, chin, jawline and cheeks. Adults also have a higher risk of scarring due to a slowed rate of cell turnover.

Can You Cover Adult Acne With Concealer?

So, how does one go about covering these unwanted blemishes? First things first, patience is key. Resisting the urge to pop, poke and pick at your skin is of paramount importance. Not only can you make matters worse, but you can also end up with a scar long after the pimple has made its exit. We know, however, sometimes pimples get popped (guilty!). When this happens, do not — we repeat, do not — put makeup over the area until after you’ve let it heal. Instead, reach for an acne-fighting product, and remember, until that blemish has dried up and closed, makeup is off-limits. Below find three tips for making your acne heal faster and appear less noticeable.

    Acne Tip #1: Ice

Icing the skin helps to cause short-term vasoconstriction of the blood vessels, which in turn will temporarily improve the appearance of some pimples. Wrap a few cubes of ice in a paper towel and hold up to the affected area on and off every few minutes.

    Acne Tip #2: Color Correctors

Pimples may come in various sizes, but one thing they all have in common is their tell-tale redness. Regular concealer alone may not do the trick. This is where color correction comes in. To neutralize the appearance of redness, you’ll want to reach for a green color corrector. We like the Maybelline New York Master Camo Color Correcting Pen . The precision tip makes application easy and the full-coverage formula camouflages all signs of redness. Pat the pigment gently on the affected area and then reach for your foundation. No concealer necessary. But remember, this is off-limits until your blemish has closed!

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

    Acne Tip #3: Spot Treatment

Have a pimple you need to get rid of fast? Reach for a spot treatment formulated with acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide or sulfur. Many spot treatments can dramatically reduce the appearance of breakouts. We like the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Acne Spot Treatment . It’s formulated with benzoyl peroxide to visibly reduce the appearance of acne blemishes. Spot treatments penetrate deep into pores to clear stubborn whiteheads and blackheads, sometimes even overnight.

A sty used to be a very common occurrence among children when we were growing up. With dust and unwashed hands and snotty kids around, it was no surprise. But getting a sty (a pimple on eyelid) today is a source of annoyance, discomfort and severe pain.

There are medicines to take care of the infected eye, but when there are countless effective home remedies, why resort to prescription drugs?

    What causes a sty?

Dirt, bad makeup, small debris, bad hygiene, stress or even hormonal changes can cause an eye pimple. The small oil glands in the eye get blocked and are infected with bacteria, leading to this condition.

A sty usually appears on the eyelid, but a pimple inside eyelid is pretty common too. You could suffer pain, tenderness, some swelling, a burning or itchy sensation, irritation while blinking or sensitivity to bright light.

A sty normally goes away within 8-10 days on its own, but why should you suffer when eye pimple treatment is available, at home?

7 Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Pimples On Eyelid:

    #1 A warm compress

The heat speeds up blood circulation, helping heal and drain the pus. You will also be comforted by the warm touch.

    • Immerse a clean towel in hot water and squeeze out the excess water
    • Lie down with your eyes shut and place the towel on the affected eye
    • Keep it on for 4-5 minutes
    • Repeat this 3-4 times a day until pus comes out
    • Carefully clean away the pus
    • Repeat the warm compress until there is no more discharge

We all know the healing properties of turmeric. Try this remedy to subside a sty quickly.

    1. Mix one tablespoon of turmeric in 2 cups of water
    2. Bring this solution to boil until it reduces to half
    3. After it cools, strain it through a fine muslin cloth
    4. With the help of this solution, wash your eyes at least 2-3 times in a day

The humble potato comes to your aid. It works as an astringent and reduces inflammation.

    1. Grate a clean medium-size potato
    2. Make a poultice of the grated potato in a muslin cloth
    3. Place this on the affected eye for 5-10 minutes
    4. Repeat this 2-3 times in a day for about 4 days

Green tea work just as wonderfully on the skin as it does within. The natural anti-inflammatory properties reduce pain and tannic acid keeps the infection from spreading.

    1. Immerse a green tea bag in a cup of warm water
    2. Remove the bag and squeeze out all excess water
    3. Place the teabag over the affected eye for five minutes
    4. Repeat this 3-4 times every day until the eye improves

Antibacterial and pain-reliving clove is a handy thing to have when affected by a sty.

    1. Soak 5-6 pods of clove in water for 10 minutes
    2. Strain to remove the pods and keep the water
    3. Soak a clean cloth in the clove infused water
    4. Comfort the affected eye with it for a few minutes
    5. Continue with this pimple on eyelid treatment thrice a day for a few days

    #6 Coriander seeds

The tasty coriander seed quietly relieves the pain and inflammation of a sty.

    1. Boil one teaspoon of coriander seeds with a cup of water
    2. Turn off the gas and wait till the water cools down
    3. Strain and wash your affected eye with it
    4. Repeat thrice a day until it gets better

No home remedy list is complete without aloe vera gel. Use fresh gel or purchase some from your nearest chemist. This soothes and helps reduce redness and swelling.

    1. Gently rub the gel on the affected eye
    2. Wash the eye with lukewarm water after 20 minutes. Apply Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting Cream on the area around eye
    3. Repeat thrice a day for a week

All these 7 remedies are effective in treating a sty, and without any side-effects too.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Having a scab on the face can affect your self-confidence. Whether you obtained it from a wound or a pimple, it can vary substantially in appearance. However, the good news is that you can use makeup to cover it, and the technique is simple once you know how.

    Scab Versus Coverage

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Although makeup helps to reduce the appearance of a scab, unfortunately, it won’t make it disappear completely. The prominence of a scab of your face will depend largely on a number of factors, such as:

These factors also contribute to how long it will take for the scab to heal. However, applying makeup can be quite useful as it helps the scab to dry out and heal faster. It also prevents you from touching it, even though it can be incredibly tempting, as this will prolong the healing process.

    Covering a Scab With Makeup

Before you begin, make sure you’ve washed, cleansed, and dried your face.

    1. Apply a face primer that will moisturize and hydrate your scab, such as the E.L.F Hydrating Face Primer.
    2. Use your finger to dab on a liquid concealer with good coverage, like the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but avoid rubbing it in too much. Rather, let it sit on top of the skin’s surface.
    3. Apply a flawless finish liquid foundation, such as the Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Liquid Foundation, using an angled foundation brush. Push the product into the scab gently using the brush. Avoid a powder foundation as this will make the scab look drier and more noticeable.
    4. Dab on another layer of your concealer using your finger.
    5. Set in your face makeup with a translucent powder, like the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder, using a fluffy powder brush. When you reach your scab area, dab it on delicately with your brush.
    6. Continue with the rest of your makeup as you usually would and avoid touching the scab area for the entire time that you’re wearing your makeup.
    7. To remove your makeup, use a gentle makeup remover with a cotton pad, like the Garnier SkinActive Micellar All-in-1 Cleansing Water. Apply the cleansing water to your cotton pad and place it on the scab area carefully. Allow it to soak up the makeup from the scab rather than rubbing the scab as this may aggravate it and cause it to flake.

    Additional Tips and Variations

There are some other ways that you can reduce your scab’s appearance using makeup.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

    • If your scab is extra flaky – Use a calming moisturizer instead of a primer on your face before you apply your makeup.
    • If your scab is super sore – Soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol and rub the cotton ball on the scab. Allow the area to dry for at least one minute before following up with an antibacterial cream. As well as softening the scab in preparation for makeup, this will quicken the healing process.
    • If your scab is particularly red – Use a green color-correcting concealer during step two. Apply a small amount to cover the scab area using your finger. The green hue will cancel out the angry red color underneath. Then apply your regular flesh-colored concealer on top before proceeding to step three.
    • If you’re feeling really self-conscious – Use a pop of color on your lips or eyes in the form of a vivid lipstick or a glittery eyeshadow to draw focus away from your scab.

    Finding What Works

Even though it won’t cover it completely, applying makeup to your scab will dramatically minimize its appearance while it’s healing. Simply play around with products and application variations until you find the perfect combination for you.

Blame it on hormones, pre-holiday stress, or this crazy changing weather, but we have all experienced a painful, monster zit that appears out of nowhere, taking up permanent residence on yo’ face. Just in time for your big party/reunion/photo sesh. For all you lovely readers who have complimented me on my skin, let me assure you that I definitely get zits, even at the ripe old age of 34. Not all the time, but when I do, they are EPIC. So I thought I would blog about how to cover up a flaky pimple. Check out the doozy I am rocking today:

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

It’s kind of a colony of 3 zits. I opened the door [without makeup] for the UPS guy, and he recoiled in horror: “My God, what happened. Did you get punched in the nose??” Awesome. When I took off my makeup at night, my sweet husband said, “Whoa! I had no idea what was going on under there. What do you think it wants?” Like, he personified my pimple.

So your choices in an EPIC ZIT situation are: (1) pay $$ for a dermatologist to inject cortisone into the zit (around $80, but sometimes insurance covers it); (2) cut bangs. I actually did this in 1997 when I had TWO huge zits appear on my forehead the day before the Homecoming Dance. I have not worn bangs since because, well, see photo below:

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Third option: try to treat zit at night, and cover with a lot of makeup by day. Here is my step by step pimple cover-up process:

    (1) when you get out of the shower and your skin is somewhat damp, GENTLY rub your towel or washcloth over the area to loosen dry, flaky skin. I much prefer this method to a facial scrub because a scrub is too harsh and will cause more redness and irritation in the area. The skin is already sensitive if you have been putting on salicylic acid at night to treat the zit. Gently pat dry and wait for redness to die down.

    (2) Apply your normal moisturizer or sunscreen all over your face and wait to soak in. This may seem counterintuitive, but it is a delicate dance between drying out the zit, and making the surrounding skin a big, flaky mess. I have been using Elta MD UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46— it does not sting my delicate breakout area, and the lotion contains niacinamide which is supposed to fade red marks.

    (3) After waiting for the moisturizer to soak in thoroughly, assess whether there are any straggling flakes. Sorry if this is TMI, but scratch those away with your [clean] fingernail. Very important here– DO NOT PICK at your zit. Just remove the white, dried out flakey edges around the zit so your makeup goes more smoothly on top. Only the flakey parts that brush away with no effort– if you start peeling away layers on top, it will bleed and be impossible to cover up.

    (4) Apply an oil-free primer all over your face. I swear by Laura Mercier Oil-Free Foundation Primer because it creates a smooth canvas for your makeup, and will also prolong the concealer you are about to artfully apply.

    (5) Apply a foundation with a little more coverage than you usually wear. I like It Cosmetics Full Coverage CC Cream Illumination (in Light) because it has high coverage, a subtle glow, and is invisible on the skin. Plus awesome physical blocker SPF protection! I also recommend applying the foundation with your fingers as opposed to a beauty blender or a brush.

    (6) Put Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick [Update 2/19/17: ugh, just heard this is being discontinued, and I struggled to find it online. Buy this up now] directly on the zit, and wait for about a minute for it to dry slightly. As it dries, it will become tacky and will not move from where you placed it, keeping coverage where you want it. The Bobbi Brown Face Touch Up Stick contains natural kaolin clay that actually helps to treat the zit with its oil-absorbing properties. Lightly tap the concealer to blend in. It won’t look perfect yet, but that’s ok.

In the photo below, I don’t have any foundation on yet. That is a mistake– foundation first, then concealer. Otherwise the foundation will mess up the careful placement of your concealer.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

    (7) To continue building coverage over the redness, I recommend the Susan Posnick ColorCorrect concealer pencil (I also sometimes use it to cover under eye circles, as I blogged about here). The Susan Posnick pencil has the perfect consistency and coverage to cover zits. And don’t think you can just substitute any old concealer pencil here! For instance I have the Loreal True Match concealer pencil and it doesn’t cover nearly as well. (Susan Posnick is available at Kuhl-Linscomb in Houston).

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

    (8) Lightly dust loose powder all over your face to set the makeup, and to mattify. You will still have the underlying bump of the zit, but the contours of the bump will show less if it is matte, as opposed to a dewier finish. I’m loyal to Stila Set & Illuminate Baked Powder Trio (in “The Illuminators”) [Update 2/19/2017: like all good things, this just got discontinued. I like Nars Light Reflecting Setting Powder ok, but I’m just really depressed about the Stila being discontinued] because it is like an Instagram filter for your face, and also makes the your concealer blend in a little more with your skin/foundation.

Here’s the finished product below! You can’t do anything about the bump, but with the high-coverage concealers available today, there is no excuse for any redness showing through.

We could sit here all day and debate the beauty products we can’t live without , but in terms of new products that have blessed the beauty world far and wide, acne spot treatment dots are high on our list. Normally, we apply these pimple patches over our blemishes at night to wake up to a better, less-inflamed breakout situation, but what about wearing these little translucent dots during the day — or maybe even under makeup ?

Because most acne patches are translucent, it seems like they were created to wear out and about — not just when you’re makeup-free and in pajamas. We reached out to the beauty team over at Cosrx Korean Skin Care to explain how to wear pimple patches like the brand’s best-selling Clear Fit Master Patch under makeup.

How to Wear a Pimple Patch Under Makeup

STEP 1: After washing your face, gently pat with a towel to make sure your skin is completely dry.
STEP 2 : Choose a patch slightly bigger than the size of your zit.
STEP 3 : Before applying any skin care, put the patch directly on the trouble spot.
STEP 4 : Proceed to the next steps in your daily skin-care regimen, avoiding the patch area.
STEP 5 : You’re finally ready to apply makeup on top.

Tips for Applying Makeup Over an Acne Patch

Tip #1: Be extra gentle when applying makeup on the patch area.

Tip #2: When applying makeup, we recommend thin and translucent patches like, Cosrx Clear Fit Master Patch , Hero Cosmetics Mighty Patch Invisible+ and Peace Out Acne Healing Dots .

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Tip #3: You can also wear acne patches like the Starface Hydro-Stars with your makeup (as in, not covered up) if you’re comfortable with it. These star-shaped patches make breakouts look cute.

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

Mistakes People Make When Wearing Pimple Patches Under Makeup

Mistake #1: Wearing lots of foundation or concealer to cover up the patch will only make it look more noticeable.

Mistake #2: Putting too much skin-care product on top of the patch will create a crease, so be conservative with how much you apply while wearing the patch.

Mistake #3: If you use oil or serum in your skin-care routine, make sure it does not soak the patch. A wet patch will not be adhesive. Think of it like a bandage for your zit.

What are the benefits of wearing a pimple patch during the day?
The patch not only protects the skin from inflammation, but it also helps prevent you from picking at your zit. Because of this, we recommend using the patch if you are a picker or if you’re in an environment with lots of dust or dirt, which can increase the risk of inflammation. It’s also great for covering and protecting an already-popped pimple that needs to be healed.

Say you have a big date — how can you make your pimple go away, fast?
If you have an important meeting, date or a party you’re attending and you need to hide a pimple, we recommend using the Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch the night before to heal the spot, and then using a thinner patch in the daytime to cover it up.

When should you avoid wearing an acne patch?
We generally don’t recommend wearing it in situations where you’ll be sweating a lot — at the gym or sauna. It won’t stick and it’s better to just let the skin breathe in such an environment.

Is acne keeping you from a flawless complexion? If so, you’re not alone.

Whether the breakout is large or small, everyone struggles with acne, even your favorite celebrities. That may be hard to imagine, considering that Hollywood stars like Camila Cabello (See: her flawless makeup at the VMAs) glow on the red carpet. We never see their pimples.

Enter red carpet pro and makeup artist Allan Avendaño, who works with the “Havana” singer, as well as Vanessa Hudgens and Sarah Hyland. The beauty pro knows more than a thing or two about perfecting skin for major events, no matter the condition of his clients’ skin. Now that the seasons are changing and more people are suffering from dry skin, Allan revealed to E! News everything you need to make your acne disappear like magic (without actually touching it).

“You know, it’s really tough [to know what to do] until you meet the pimple,” the Differin ambassador told E! News. “If it’s not ready, then you gotta ice it down. A lot of times if it’s red and inflamed, I will put ice on it just to get the swelling down.”

After icing the breakout, he resorts to a number of products in his makeup kit. Check them out below!

“I always say that you have to start with a clean, clear canvas before you can cover anything up and that’s where the Differin Oil Control Moisturizer comes in. It doesn’t clog anything, but it absorbs the oil and it gives you that primer finish.”

“Then I’ll go in with a foundation, using a buffing brush—I think Sephora or IT Cosmetics makes like a foundation buffing brush—and I like to put the foundation on with that and swirl it around the face really gently. I don’t use a beauty blender or anything like that only because I think the beauty blender absorbs the product and you want the product to get on but you want to buff it into your skin instead of like patting it on.”

“Then I’ll spot treat with a concealer on the spot and kind of like you know kind of pat it in or use like a stiff, synthetic concealer brush to kind of pat in the product into the pimple. Afterwards, I go on about my business try to get the makeup routine done and add anything I need to add and then at the end, if that pimple is still sort of sticking out, I’ll go back in with a concealer again and then pat it in again. The thing is, you don’t want to over over do it. If it sticks out a little bit more, I’ll just cover it up and then I’ll set it with a little translucent powder. It usually does the trick.”

“I do love using It Cosmetics, for someone that needs a lot of coverage, I feel that it does the trick and a little goes a long way. So when you’re trying to cover a pimple, I mean literally it takes just a little bit. You could even use the Bye Bye Undereye concealers that they have and it’s like a little tube, you can squeeze out a little bit and you can actually use it almost as a foundation. It just covers so well. They also have Bye Bye Redness, which, you know if you have a problem with something super red, you can use that to kind of cover it up before you put on the foundation.”

“I use [Urban Decay Naked Skin] for everything from covering up pimples to covering up under-eye circles. I love those things! They have a green one. They have a peach one. They have a pink one, and I have to tell you, sometimes even if [your skin is] red and obviously people tend to go with green to kind of cancel out the red. I’ll use the peach one over it and it’ll cover it. The deep peach, the pink, is universal. I love that even the yellow one is incredible. So, that’s sort of like my trick. And I love it also because if I’m covering up a pimple of some sort, it’s not as heavy as a heavy cream color corrector would be.”

“You know when you try to cover pimples obviously, you’re using concealers and then you’re going to set it with powder. I love to use a mist, like a setting mist. Whether it’s just like, Evian water or Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Mist or the Mac Cosmetics Fix Plus. I love that it helps everything kind of just adhere to your face. It has a really dewy, luminous finish. And then after that, you can go back in with a little powder to get in the areas like the sides of your nose, your forehead and your chin.”

What is the best technique? It seems it’s always noticable even when I apply foundation or powder. Please help!!

if it is “dry” apply a tiny dab of moisturiser.. then apply yellow concealer. (just on the dis colored skin. not all arround it) then apply powder to set it, and stipple on foundation on top of it to match the rest of your face. then again set it with powder.

always use a stippling motion with concealer, rubbing will just take the product off of the spot you are trying to conceal.

If the tips of the pimple is white go a head and squeeze it but just a little so it will go down in size then you can get an icecube and let it sit on the pimple (this will help the swelling go down) then take some coverup and use that and dab then but your foundation on and hopefully it will be covered up! 🙂

You have to cancel out the color. I hear applying some green eye shadow on it and then the conclear should work.

Or just leave it alone to heal.

I use to cover up my pimples the bad one but i just realized it made them worse so now i just tough it out, because instead of a wek to go away it takes about 3 days. When the pimple goes down and its only red skin left then i will cover it up possiblely.

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing.

yeah it applys to your face, not so much green eye shadow but something like this.

this will dramatically reduce redness in your face and will keep it shine free.

trust me, i own this and it works great

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

There is a brand here in australia called ‘physician’s formula’ designed for that exact problem. You apply the green makeup and then cover it up with regular foundation. Use it sparingly and make sure you blend it well or else you run the risk of looking like the Hulk.

You want “Physician’s Formula Mineral Wear Talc-Free Cream Concealer in Soft Green”. It’s about $7 and you can find it at basically any drugstore. Ask the clerk for help if you can’t find it.

To use it, first use a damp latex make-up sponge and apply a thing layer of oil-free liquid foundation all over your face and neck. Once it’s dry, dab a little bit of the concealer on your pimple and top it off with your regular foundation.

    I hope that helped!

Yes it will cover the red! 🙂 Shop around where ever you buy your make up for green concealer. Just dab it on over the spots before you apply your foundation! The same rules apply with foundation, if your skin has red tones buy a foundation with yellow tones and if your skin has more yellow tones buy a foundation that has pink tones! I know wal-mart sells these kinds of concealors! Good luck, hope this helps! 🙂

How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red Pimple

I use a mineral-based product that is more like a sage colored powder. It works great. The brand is Pure Luxe or something and it’s called “What Red?”. I definitely recommend getting something mineral so it doesn’t affect your acne. Don’t use eyeshadow or anything foreign on your skin. it will clog your pores.

I’ve also tried eucerin for red skin (it’s green-toned) and I really didn’t like it. It didn’t get rid of the red and it peeled.

I have severely bad acne and it works quite well for me! Green eyeshadow would not work. You can go to your drug store and purchase a green foundation that you can put under your regular foundation. But don’t put too much! When I first started using it, my face turned green and I looked ill! Ask the clerk at the drug store =)

In a perfect world, pimples would torment us for only a day and then disappear forever. Sounds like the stuff of dreams, right? Well, today it’s a reality, thanks to the COSRX Acne Pimple Master Patches!
How to Use Green Eyeshadow to Cover a Red PimpleThese hydrocolloid stickers treat pimples by targeting exactly what causes them in the first place: a bacterial infection. Gross, we know. But unlike most acne treatments, these clear patches don’t absorb into your skin. Rather, they draw out everything that doesn’t belong in there: bacteria, oil, and other unmentionables.

As a result, these patches gently and completely eliminate the infection. Their absorbent action allows the lesion to heal quickly without disturbance. And by minimizing the stress your skin is subjected to, each patch helps prevent scarring, too.

If you’ve struggled with covering acne marks, breakouts, hyperpigmentation, birthmarks or rosacea, you might be frustrated with the makeup options. It’s particularly frustrating when expensive concealers and foundations fail to correct or conceal problem areas. A surprising product may rescue you from an uneven and red skin tone — green color-correction powder. Green neutralizes red hues and imperfections on your face. Apply the concealer correctly and sparingly, so you don’t leave the the house with a green-tinted face.

    Step 1

Load a small to medium-sized makeup brush with the powdered green color corrector. Tap the brush against the powder container’s lip to remove the excess product, because less is more when it comes to green-tinted makeup.

    Step 2

Apply the color corrector only to problem areas. For example, if you suffer from ruddy skin along your forehead and nose, apply a thin coating of the color corrector only to these areas. Blend the product into your skin well with the brush to ensure that it stays put. A small amount goes a long way; experiment with the amount of color corrector to effectively conceal problem areas.

    Step 3

Blend a cream concealer or liquid foundation over the green color-corrector powder. Use a makeup sponge or clean fingers to apply the concealer or foundation as you normally would. If the corrector is blended well, it will stay in place.

Got a monster zit you’re wanting to conceal? Or even a case of acne you like to camouflage? You can help your blemishes to blend as much as possible into your skin, without looking like you’ve got a ton of makeup on.

Don’t worry; it’s OK to wear makeup when you have acne. Even if you’re not a brilliant makeup artist, you can utilize these simple makeup tricks to help minimize the look of acne while you’re waiting for it to heal.

Step 1: Start With a Cleansed Face

Thoroughly cleanse your face to remove excess oil, and apply a light moisturizing lotion. Moisturizing helps diminish the look of dryness or peeling that sometimes occurs with acne treatments.

Step 2: Apply Your Base Makeup

If desired, apply your liquid or cream-to-powder based makeup now. Put on your base makeup using light strokes to avoid irritating breakouts and making them look more red and inflamed. Gentle is the keyword here!

If you use pressed or loose powder, or mineral makeup, apply it at step 5.

Step 3: Apply a Green Concealer to Any Red Breakouts

Here’s a little color theory 101: Opposite from red on the color wheel is green, which means red and green cancel each other out. That’s what all those weirdly green concealers are for.

Dab green concealer (available wherever makeup is sold) on breakouts to tone down the angry red color. Do not rub; rather, pat gently with your finger or clean makeup sponge to blend. The green color should be blended out thoroughly.

Step 4: Apply Concealer in Your Skin Tone

Dot concealer over any areas you’d like a little extra coverage. Concealers in pots or tubes give better coverage than stick-type concealer. Pat gently to blend.

Try to get a concealer that matches your skin exactly. Too dark or too light and it will make the pimples look more obvious.

Concealer feel too heavy for you? You can always skip this step.

Step 5: Lightly Dust Your Entire Face With Powder

Translucent, or loose powder sets the concealer and gives the skin a matte appearance without adding extra color to the face. They also help absorb oil throughout the day. Mineral makeup can be used in place of translucent powder if preferred.

For more staying power and better coverage, let the concealer set for five to 10 seconds after application and before blending.

Be certain to thoroughly remove all makeup you’ve applied before going to bed for the night.

Don’t just settle for covering up blemishes. Start on an acne treatment to help heal them too. If over-the-counter treatments aren’t working, see a dermatologist for help.

I heard that the color green can cancel out red does this apply to makeup and do they have any for acne? does it work? and what products should I get to do this? green eye shadow?
