How to use 1password on any computer no installation required

Move your data with your 1Password account
If you have a 1Password account, sign in on your new device and all your items will be there.
To sign in on a new device, you’ll need your Secret Key. You can find it in your Emergency Kit, or in 1Password on your authorized devices.
Don’t have a 1Password membership? Try one free. After you have your new account, migrate your existing 1Password data to it.
Move your data with iCloud or Dropbox
Important
Before you get started, make a backup of your 1Password data. Afterward, make sure your data is on your new device before you delete it from an old one.
If you don’t have a 1Password account, the easiest way to migrate your data is to sync 1Password with iCloud or Dropbox. Set up sync on your old device before you set it up on your new device.
Move data between two Apple devices: iCloud
Migrate your data by syncing with iCloud in 1Password 6 or later on any Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
Only your Primary vault syncs with iCloud. If you have multiple vaults, use Dropbox or a USB flash drive to move your 1Password data to your new device.
Move data between devices on different platforms: Dropbox
Migrate your data by syncing with Dropbox. This is perfect for folks with a Windows PC, Android device, multiple vaults, or 1Password 5 or earlier.
Move your data with a USB flash drive
Important
Before you get started, make a backup of your 1Password data. Afterward, make sure your data is on your new device before you delete it from an old one.
To move your data from one computer to another without the Internet, use a USB flash drive. If you have multiple vaults, repeat these steps for each vault.
Old computer: Sync a vault to a USB flash drive
- Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your Mac.
- Open and unlock 1Password, then choose Preferences > Sync.
- Select the vault you want to migrate, then choose Folder from the drop-down menu on the right.
- In the file browser, navigate to the USB flash drive, then click Open.
- Click Create New to save your data to the USB flash drive.
New computer: Load a vault from a USB flash drive
- Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your Mac.
- Open 1Password on your Mac.
- Click More Options below “Used 1Password before?” on the Welcome screen, then click “Search my Mac”.
- Click “Pick a different location” on the next screen, then click “Choose a file on my Mac”.
- Click Choose File and navigate to the USB flash drive.
- Select the OPVault file (ending in .opvault), then click Open.
- Enter your Master Password on the lock screen.
The new vault on your Mac will be kept in sync with the file on your USB flash drive. If you prefer not to sync, choose Preferences > Sync, select the vault, and choose None from the Sync menu.
These instructions require Windows 7 or later and 1Password 4 for Windows.
Old computer: Sync a vault to a USB flash drive
- Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your PC.
- Locate your existing Agile Keychain or OPVault in Windows Explorer.
- Copy the .agilekeychain or .opvault folder to the USB flash drive.
New computer: Load a vault from a USB flash drive
- Insert the USB flash drive into a USB port on your PC.
- Navigate in Windows Explorer to the Agile Keychain or OPVault on the USB flash drive and move it to your preferred location on your hard drive.
- Open 1Password and click “I have used 1Password before” on the Welcome screen.
- Navigate to the location of the Agile Keychain or OPVault on your hard drive and double-click it. You’ll see the lock screen.
- Enter your Master Password.
After you set up 1Password on your new computer, get 1Password in your browser to save passwords and sign in to websites.
1Password for Windows is the simple, beautiful password manager you’ve been looking for. Easily organize your secure information, save and fill passwords in your web browser, and have everything available at your fingertips.
Create and edit items
When you open 1Password, you’ll see a list of all your items, like your passwords and credit cards. Select an item to see its details:
To create an item, click (CtrlВ +В N). Then choose the type of item to create. Enter the details and click Save.
To edit an item, select it and click Edit (CtrlВ +В E). When you’re done making changes, click Save.
To see only certain types of items, select a category in the sidebar. Select All Items to see everything in the current vault.
Use 1Password in your browser
1Password lets you fill passwords, credit cards, and addresses directly in your browser.
Use 1Password mini to fill in apps
1Password mini makes it easy to fill your details in apps. To open 1Password mini, click the 1Password icon in the notification area (CtrlВ +В AltВ +В backslash (\)).
To fill a username or password in an app:
- Open an app.
- Open 1Password mini and right-click a Login item.
- Drag the “username” or “password” menu item to any field in the app.
Search 1Password
Searching is the fastest way to find what you need in 1Password.
To search the current view, use the search field above the list of items (CtrlВ +В F). To search all items, press CtrlВ +В ShiftВ +В F.
Sort items
To change how items are sorted in the list, click “items sorted by” below the search field.
For example, you can sort your items by the date last you last made changes to them.
Organize with favorites and tags
You can organize your items with tags or mark them as favorites to quickly access them when you need them.
To mark an item as a favorite, select it and click below the item’s title.
To create a tag, edit an item, enter the name of the tag in the tag field, and click Save. Your tags automatically appear in the sidebar.
Switch vaults and accounts
You can use vaults in 1Password to organize your items and share them with others. If you have multiple 1Password accounts, each account has its own vaults.
To switch to a specific vault or view items from all the vaults in an account, click All Vaults (CtrlВ +В D) and choose a vault or account.
Move and copy items
You can use drag and drop to move and copy items between vaults.
Use Watchtower
Watchtower tells you about password breaches and other security problems on the websites you have saved in 1Password.
To get alerted when a website you have an account for is added to Watchtower, choose 1Password > Settings, then click Notifications and turn on “Watchtower alerts”.
Enlarge passwords
You can temporarily enlarge a password to make it easier to see while entering it on another device or reading it aloud.
To enlarge a password, hover over it. Then clickВ В and choose Large Type (CtrlВ +В L).
Archive and delete items
To move an item to the Archive, right-click it and choose Archive (CtrlВ +В Del).
To restore an item from the Archive, click Archive in the sidebar, select the item, then click Restore.
To delete an item, right-click it and choose Delete.
Lock 1Password
When you’re done using 1Password, you can lock it. To lock 1Password, click in the top right corner (WindowsВ logoВ keyВ В +В ShiftВ +В L). Unlock 1Password again by entering your Master Password.
Most computers users keep their computers locked with a password so that unauthorized users cannot access your files. However, if you are the only person using your computer, you may want to start Windows 10 without password. It saves you from the headache of entering a password each time you want to access your machine. At the same time, though, it opens a door for other people to use your computer so do so cautiously.
There are multiple ways on how to start Windows 10 without password and each method does the same task – remove the password prompt that appears on the login screen. Once the password prompt is removed from your login screen, you will instantly go to your desktop whenever you boot-up your computer.
Without further ado, let’s check out how you can boot directly to your desktop without the hassle of entering your password on Windows 10:
Method 1. Start Windows 10 without Password Using Automatically Sign in
Automatic sign-in is one of the features offered by Windows 10 that allows you to automatically sign yourself in when you boot-up your machine. Once the feature is enabled on your computer, your computer will automatically authorize you on the log-in screen and you will directly head to the desktop of your computer.
The following are the steps on how to start Windows 10 without a password using the automatic sign-in feature:
Step 1. Open the Run dialog box on your computer by pressing Windows + R keys together. When the box opens, type in netplwiz and hit the Enter key on your keyboard to launch the utility.
Step 2. On the following screen, you will see a list of users on your machine. Click on your username in the list, untick the box that says Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer. Click on Apply button.
Step 3. Soon as you click on the button in the previous step, you will be asked to enter the password for your user account for authorization. Do so and click on OK button.
From now onwards, your Windows 10 computer will not ask you to log-in to your account each time you boot-up your machine. It will automatically log you in to your account and you will directly access your desktop.
Method 2. Skip the Windows 10 Login Screen Using Local Group Policy Editor
One of the utilizes on your computer called Local Group Policy Editor lets you change a number of settings on your machine including your login behaviors. If you do not want for your computer to ask you for a password each time you want to get in to your machine, you can use the utility to enable that option.
It is fairly easy to use the aforesaid utility to disable the password prompt on your Windows 10 computer. The following shows how you can go about doing it on your machine.
Step 1. Launch the Run dialog box by pressing Windows + R keys together. Then, type in gpedit.msc and hit the Enter key on your keyboard.
Step 2. When the editor opens, head to the following path by clicking on the respective folder names in the left sidebar.
Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization/
Step 3. Once you are the above path, double-click on the entry saying Do not display the lock screen in the right panel to open the entry. This option is what you are looking for.
Step 4. When the entry opens on your screen, select the Enabled option and click on Apply followed by OK to save your settings.
That’s all there is to it. Your Windows 10 computer will not show your lock screen meaning it will not prompt you to enter a password to access your machine. That is how you go about starting Windows 10 without a password using the policy editor utility.
Method 3. Start Windows 10 without Password by Removing Forgotten Password
If you have forgotten your password and you would still like to access your computer, you will need to first remove the forgotten password from your machine. In order to do so, you are going to need to use a software on your computer.
Enter Windows Password Key, a software that has been designed specifically to deal with forgotten password scenarios. It helps you remove your user account password from your computer so you can access your machine without the need of entering a password.
The following shows how you can grab the software and use it to remove your password:
Step 1. Download and launch the software on any computer you can access. Launch the software, insert a blank CD/DVD/USB flash drive into your computer, select your drive in the software, and finally click on the Burn button.
Step 2. Boot-up your locked computer from the newly burned media drive. Then, select your Windows installation from the list available on your screen.
Step 3. Choose your user account, select Remove Windows Password, and click on the Next button. Click on Next on the following screen to confirm your action.
Your password should be removed from your Windows 10 user account.

Save a login
To save a login, enter your username and password. Then choose Save in 1Password.
To update an incorrect or incomplete login, make your changes, then choose Save in 1Password and click Update.
Fill logins and other items
To fill an item, click and choose it.
If 1Password suggests more than one item, you can use the arrow keys to select the one you want.
Or start typing to find it.
Use a suggested password
1Password suggests strong passwords when you’re changing a password or signing up for a new account.
To use a suggested password, click in a password field and choose UseВ SuggestedВ Password.
Create a custom password
You can use the 1Password pop-up to create custom passwords. To open the pop-up, click in your browser’s toolbar.
To create a custom password, click and choose Password Generator.
Adjust the settings for your new password, then copy it to the clipboard or fill it on the page.
To see all the passwords you’ve created, click Generator History below the password generator.
Search 1Password
Searching is the fastest way to find what you need in 1Password.
To search in 1Password, open the pop-up and start typing.
To cancel the current search, click or press Esc.
View and edit items
To view an item’s details, click it. Or use the arrow keys to select it.
To mark an item as a favorite, click .
To copy any field, click it.
To open the pop-up in a new window, click .
To show a field in large type, click to the right of it, then click Large.
To reveal a password, click to the right of it, then click Reveal. Or press Control-Option (or CtrlВ +В Alt) to reveal all passwords in the item details.
To edit an item, click Edit. The item will open in a new tab, where you can add tags or custom fields, move it, archive it, or delete it.
Use drag and drop to fill in apps
To fill in an app, drag your login details from 1Password to it. For example, drag your password to the password field in the app.
You can also use drag and drop in your browser. Fill answers to security questions, membership numbers, and more.
Fill two-factor authentication codes
You can use 1Password as an authenticator for a site that supports two-factor authentication. First, find the site on 2fa.directory and follow the instructions to turn on two-factor authentication for the site.
When you see a QR code for 1Password to scan, click to scan it.
Switch accounts and vaults
To see a list of your accounts and vaults, click > Vaults.
To see everything, click All Vaults. To see only the items for a specific account or vault, click it.
To set which vaults are included when you view All Vaults, click next to All Vaults, then adjust the vaults under Accounts and Vaults.
Use Watchtower
Watchtower tells you about password breaches and other security problems on the websites you have saved in 1Password.
If any of your items require action, you’ll see an alert banner with more information at the top of the item in 1Password.
To get alerted when a website you have an account for is added to Watchtower, click > Settings. Then turn on “Watchtower alerts”.
Lock 1Password
When you’re done using 1Password in your browser, you can lock it. To lock 1Password, click > LockВ 1Password.
1Password will automatically lock when:
- you quit the browser
- you don’t use your computer for a certain amount of time
- your computer sleeps
Manage your settings
To manage your settings, click > Settings. You’ll be able to:
- Change your auto-lock settings
- Check for vulnerable passwords
- Change the language
- Adjust the toolbar button appearance
- Change which item list 1Password opens with
- Allow notifications
- Set a keyboard shortcut to open the pop-up
- Adjust how 1Password behaves on web pages
- Add and remove accounts; adjust All Vaults
- Make 1Password the default password manager
Get help
If you don’t see the 1Password icon in your browser’s toolbar
If the 1Password icon is missing from your browser toolbar, you can customize the toolbar to make it visible.
If your browser’s built-in password manager is interfering with 1Password
If your browser’s built-in password manager is interfering with 1Password, you can turn it off. Click in your browser’s toolbar, then click > Settings, and turn on “Make 1Password the default password manager”.
If you use different passwords for additional 1Password accounts
When you unlock 1Password in your browser, only accounts using the same password are unlocked. To unlock an account that has a different password, lock 1Password, then unlock it using the password for that account.
To make sure you always have access to your 1Password accounts, use the same password for all of them. If you signed up for accounts with different passwords, you can change them.

Not everyone likes having to enter a password every time they need to sign in to their computer. Windows lets you get rid of the password without too much hassle. Here’s how.
Why You Probably Shouldn’t Do This
There are several caveats you should be aware of before you even consider using the techniques we cover in this article.
- You must be using a local account for the password removal trick to work. You can’t remove your password if you’re using a Microsoft account. If you’re using a Microsoft account and still want to do this, you’ll need to revert your account to a local one.
- Removing the password from your computer can be a security risk. Anyone can access it by simply walking up to it. However, people still need to have physical access to do this. Having no password on a local account doesn’t make you any more vulnerable to remote intrusion.
- If you make an administrator account have no password, malicious applications running on your PC could theoretically gain elevated access to Windows.
- If you have only one account on your Windows PC, it’s a better idea to set Windows up to sign you in automatically instead of removing your password, but even that has its problems. We’ll show you how to do it later in this article and note the specific security risks it entails, as well.
Yeah, that’s a lot of important caveats. The truth is, we generally recommend against using these techniques, even though, in certain circumstances, they might make sense. In the end, we’re writing about them because we’ve seen the advice passed around on other sites without noting the important risks it involves.
How to Remove the Windows Password for a Local User Account
Open the Settings app by clicking the Start menu and then the Settings cog.
Next, click on “Accounts.”
From the list of settings on the left side, select “Sign-in Options” and then under the “Password” section on the right, click the “Change” button.
To change your password, you must first confirm your current one, for security reasons. Once you have done that, click “Next.”
For the next section, because we don’t want to use a password to sign in, leave all the fields blank and click “Next.” By not entering a password and leaving it blank, Windows replaces your current one with a blank one.
Finally, click “Finish.”
Alternatively, if you feel more comfortable in the command line, fire up an elevated Command Prompt and enter the following command, replacing username with the name of the user account (be sure to include the quotes in the command):
The next time you go to log in, all you have to do is click “Sign in” for the account you just changed.
How to Automatically Sign Into Windows
If you have only one user account on your PC, automatically signing in is the better option.
Note that there is a security risk with this method, too. First up, the same thing applies that we mentioned before: Anyone can walk up to your PC and sign themselves in. What’s more, when you enable it Windows stores your account password on your PC where anyone with admin access can find it. Again, this isn’t too big a deal if your PC is in a secure location accessible only by people you trust (like maybe in your home), but it’s not a good idea on a laptop you carry around with you, and it’s certainly not a good idea if you use a Microsoft account rather than a local one. We’ve got a full article detailing the risks with setting automatic login that you might want to read before enabling it.
If you do want to have Windows automatically sign you in, it’s easy to set up.
Run the command netplwiz from the Start Menu or Command Prompt. In the User Accounts window that opens, untick the “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” checkbox and then click “OK.”
One last option has to be turned off to make sure you never have to use a password to sign in again. In the Settings app, head on over to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and under “Require Sign-in” select “Never” from the drop-down list.
Now, anytime you’ve been away from the computer and wake it back up, you won’t need to input any password to sign in to your account.

Since you’re unable to go into Safemode, we suggest using a different PC to download and to create the Media Creation Tool. Use the media to boot into Windows Recovery Environment then proceed to the steps listed below to fix the issue:
1. Press Windows + R key once you boot into the desktop.
2. Type the command netplwiz to open User Account settings.
3. Select the account where the Yes option in User Account Control is missing.
4. Click on Properties > Group Membership.
5. Click on the Administrator radio button.
6. Select Apply, and click on OK.
7. Reboot the PC for the changes to take effect.

First Of All I want to mention that i can;t understad english so well. so please help me in simple words. big thanks in advance..
Currently i’m using windows 10. yesterday when i was installing autocad.. a window pops up. do you want make changes to. i did some thing with account setting,,thenn. when i try to open any app that was installed by me 1 week ago..which were working properly ,,now these apps are asking for adminstrator username and password.. and only 1 option comes on it,, that option is no. i can;t do anything. even when i try to uninstall these apps . there again it’s askin for username and password. i can’t uninstall these apps to reinstall. help me please.
