How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

Snapchat was built on the idea of vanishing photos. Whenever you sent one, the idea was that they’d disappear into the ether rather than being stored on a server or your friends phone forever.

But Snapchat has changed. It’s not just for sending private pictures. It’s a media platform, a messaging app, and much more.

When Snapchat launched, taking a screenshot of someone’s Snap was seen as seriously bad form. These were private photos. Now though, it seems Snapchat tacitly approves of screenshots. If you take one, you get a little popup asking if you want to edit and share it!

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

Let’s break down the details.

Taking a screenshot on most smartphones is simple. On an iPhone, you press the Home and Power buttons at the same time. On an Android phone, you press the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time.

Whenever you receive a Snap you want to screenshot, press the relevant two buttons before it expires. Your friend will get a notification that you’ve taken a screenshot and you’ll see a popup asking if you want to edit the screenshot.

The popup will only show for a couple of seconds so tap it to start editing the screenshot.

The screenshot gets imported into Snapchat like it’s a regular Snap. Add any writing, filters, or drawing you want and tap the Blue Arrow to continue.

Select who you want to send the edited screenshot to then tap the Blue Arrow again.

Following this, you can edit the photo or the video taken and can finally keep a copy of others’ Snapchat Stories and they won’t even know of it.

2. Using a screen recorder app (Android and iOS)

This is another method to save someone else’s Snapchat video or photo. You just have to install any screen recorder app for Android out of the various available on the Google Play Store. For more clarity, you can check out our list of the best screen recorder apps and download the one you like.

For iOS, the inbuilt screen recorder feature can easily help you do that. You just have to enable the feature from the Control Center by tapping on the option. If at all the feature isn’t in your Control Center, you can add it by following a couple of simple steps:

  • Go to Settings to find the Control Center option.
  • Tap on it and select the Customize Controls option.
  • Following this, just add the screen recorder option and you are done.

3. Using Google Assistant for Android devices

This is yet another hack for taking a Snapchat screenshot with the help of Google Assistant. The steps are pretty easy:

  • Open up Snapchat and the snaps you want to save to your gallery.
  • Call out to Google Assistant by either long-pressing the home button or with a simple “OK, Google.”
  • Ask the digital assistant to take a screenshot verbally or by typing and the work gets done without anyone knowing about it.

However, there’s one downside; there ain’t an option to directly save the screenshot to your gallery and instead, you will be provided with an option to share it with other platforms. You have to send it to your email or any other platform, and save it from there.

4. Using airplane mode

This method is easy and doesn’t require you to do a lot. Here are the steps you have to follow:

  • Open Snapchat to make sure all the snaps are loaded (don’t view them though!)
  • Now, turn off the Wi-fi, mobile data, and even Bluetooth. After this, turn on the airplane mode.
  • Once you have ensured that your device doesn’t have internet connectivity, just open up Snapchat.
  • Just open the snap you want to take a screenshot of, take a screenshot, and it is done. After 30 seconds or a minute, turn on your internet connection and no one will know what you just did.

5. Using third-party apps

Much like third-party apps to save a WhatsApp Status, there are some to save a Snapchat snap without anyone knowing. You can download them from the Google Play Store.

There are various apps for the purpose such as SnapSaver (Android) and Sneakaboo (iOS) and there are pretty simple steps to do the same.

SnapSaver

For this, you just have to download the app and open it.

  • Now, you have to select from the desired options (Screenshot, Screen Recording, Burst Screenshot, and Integrated) and head to Snapchat.
  • Open the required snap that you want to save, tap on the SnapSaver camera icon that will appear on your screen, and a screenshot will be taken without the person getting notified about it.

Sneakaboo

For this app too, you have to install it and log in with your Snapchat credentials. All the new Snapchat Stories will appear on the app and you just have to take their screenshot when they play. This won’t notify the other user about the screenshot as your work gets done.

6. Using the Mirror feature on Android

This is another Snapchat screenshot hack, which requires some work. You have to use the screen mirroring feature (can be accessed from your smartphone’s Settings) so that your device is cast on an external device such as a smart TV.

Once this is done, you will have to open up your Snapchat and use another device to record the Snapchat video or photo. After a couple of edits, you will get yourself someone else’s Snapchat Story and they won’t even know about it.

In days past, if you wanted to share a tweet to Snapchat, you needed to screenshot it and then share your screenshot.

But now, there’s a better, more integrated option: iOS users can share tweets to Snapchat directly with a few taps, allowing their followers to navigate to the tweet and see the replies (or share it themselves).

Here’s how iOS users can get started sharing tweets to Snapchat.

How to add a tweet to Snapchat

1. Open Twitter and navigate to the tweet you want to share. The tweet must be from an account that’s public — if the tweeter’s username has a lock icon next to it, the tweet can’t be shared.

2. Tap the tweet’s sharing icon, which looks like an arrow pointing upwards out of a box. It’ll be in the bottom-right corner of the tweet.

3. You’ll see “Snap Camera” as a share option. Tap it. If you don’t see this option, it means that either Twitter or Snapchat needs to be updated, or you don’t have Snapchat installed and set up.

4. Snapchat will open, with your tweet inserted on the screen. Don’t worry about the placement of the tweet — you can adjust this after you’ve recorded the snap.

5. Take your snap — it can be a picture or video. Add any text, effects, or filters you’d like, and then move the tweet to where you want it. You can also rotate and resize it freely.

6. Tap the send button in the bottom-right corner of the screen and select your recipients, then tap the blue arrow in the bottom-right to send it.

To open the tweet you sent so they can see the replies or share it, your recipient will need to swipe up on your snap.

Snapchat is one of the most popular social media services that allow users to upload pictures and videos or send them to friends which expire after a few seconds, the maximum being ten. Although this meant that you can send embarrassing or funny pictures of yourself without thinking twice, there’s no stopping anyone from taking a screenshot of your photo on their phone. But what Snapchat does is, it notifies the person when you take a screenshot of their story or snap. In this article, we show you how you can screenshot on Snapchat without them knowing; and no, we won’t be talking about kids stuff like taking pictures of the screen from another phone instead we’ll cover some real and efficient hacks. So, let’s begin.

Note: Snapchat likes to patch these methods in their updates and many previously known methods do not work anymore, but as of June 2018 all the following methods work perfectly fine.

Screenshot on Snapchat Without Them Knowing

1. Clearing App Data

This is one of the more tedious processes but it also does not involve sideloading or installing any kind of third-party apps on your phone. The idea is fairly simple; let Snapchat load the story or image, turn off your internet connection, and take a screenshot. Now, before Snapchat can send any sort of notification to the sender, you clear the app cache and data from settings.

Here is how you do it.

1. So first things first, open Snapchat and make sure that the required snap has been loaded fully.
2. Once that is out of the way, go ahead and turn off your WiFi/mobile data or simply switch to airplane mode and open up the snap.
3. Now is your time to take that screenshot but don’t turn back on your connectivity yet.
4. This is probably the most vital step in this whole process. Go to System Settings > Apps > Snapchat > Storage > Clear Cache and Clear Data.

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

A great bonus to this method is that the sender isn’t even shown that you viewed the snap let alone being notified about any screenshots. But the drawback is that after clearing the app cache and data, you get logged out and you have to log in again every time you do this.

Pros:
– No third party apps required
– Not even marked as “seen”

Cons:
– Have to log in after every time
– Very tedious

2. Using a Screen Recording App

On Android, Snapchat is still not able to detect whether you are recording your screen or not, while you are in the app and this method takes full advantage of this shortcoming.

1. Download any screen recording app from the Play Store. (Az Screen Recorder seems to work pretty good)
2. Open Snapchat and start your screen recording.
3. While the recording is going on, open or just view the stories or snaps which you want screenshots to be taken off.
4. Once done, stop the recording.
5. Go to your gallery or file manager and open up the recorded video. Now you can take as many screenshots as you like from the screen recording being played.

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

Compared to the previous method, this is a lot more flexible and you can record for as long as you like and take screenshots from the video later; although handling a very long video might require some patience. Just remember to set the highest resolution and format to get the best result possible.

Pros:
– Can be done live even while chatting
– Perfect if screenshots of multiple snaps/stories have to be taken
– Capture videos as well

Cons:
– Requires considerable amount of storage, especially for longer recordings
– Screen recording, then again screenshotting calls for a little tiring process.

3. Using the Google Assistant

This is a really smart and one of the easiest ways to take a screenshot of anyone’s Snapchat story without them knowing anything. Honestly, I don’t know how long till Snapchat patches this, why not use it to the fullest while it is still available.

1. Open up your Snapchat to the picture(s) that you want to screenshot.
2. Call the Google Assistant by saying “Ok Google” or by holding down the home button.
3. Ask the Google Assistant to take a screenshot by saying “Take a screenshot” or you can even type it out.

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

While the whole process is very simple and quick, one little annoyance I had with this method is that the Google Assistant doesn’t give any option of saving the screenshot directly to your gallery but instead several sharing options like sharing with someone else or uploading to Google Photos.

Pros:
– Simple and fast
– No third party app needed to be installed

Cons:
– Cannot save directly to the gallery

Alternative:
If you are running an older device or older version of Android where the Google Assistant is not supported or it is not supported in your language, we have got you covered too with this free app Copy (Text & Screenshots). After you assign it the appropriate permissions and set it as the default Assist app, it works pretty much like the Google Assistant; you can call it by long pressing the home button and clicking on the image icon to take a screenshot.

4. SnapSaver

SnapSaver is another app from the Google Play Store which allows you to secretly take a screenshot of anyone’s Snapchat pictures. The app feels like a hybrid of using the previous two methods; you start a session and you can take pictures of your screen at any time during the session.

Steps:
1. Open the Snap Saver app and start a session.
2. Select your required option from Screenshot, Screen Recording, Burst Screenshot and Integrated.
3. Go into Snapchat and open up the snaps you want to save.
4. Click on the pop-up camera icon on your screen to take a screenshot.
5. End session by going back into the app.

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

The app also comes with its own gallery where you can see all the screenshots or screen recordings that you have taken and you can also share them directly from there. It also provides a lot of options and settings to choose from and is overall a solid method.

Pros:
– Simple and easy
– Screenshot, Burst Screenshot, and Video
– In-built gallery

Cons:
– Annoying ads in the free version

Quick Tip: If you are a Samsung Galaxy Note user, you can simply skip all these and use the S-pen’s Screen Write or Smart Select feature which takes a snapshot of the screen but this doesn’t notify the sender if you are using in the Snapchat app.

Wrapping Up: Screenshot on Snapchat Without Them Knowing

So these were some of the methods compared with pros and cons to screenshot Snapchat without notification on your Android phone. As of June 2018, these are the only few methods that are working perfectly fine and are yet to be patched by Snapchat with their following updates. Do you use any of the above-mentioned methods? Or did we miss any? Let us know in the comments below.

When Snapchat first hit it big, people just assumed it’d be used for seedy activities. And while that’s not completely true, it’s definitely true sometimes. For those moments when you need to take a sneaky screenshot that doesn’t notify the sender, Android has plenty of ways to keep your cover from being blown — no root needed.

For this to work, speed is the name of the game. Taking a screenshot is probably second nature to you, but toggling Google Assistant may not be. So be ready to call upon it before the Snap disappears. After all, you don’t want to use your daily replay on this — then the sender will know something is up for sure. Unfortunately, those on Android 5.0 or earlier won’t be able to use any of these methods, but everyone else should find one that suits their needs.

Method 1: Android P Multitasking UI

While this method is probably the easiest, it requires you to be on the Android P beta, which is only available to select devices right now. However, if you’re already on it, you’ll be rewarded in spades.

To get things ready, make sure you have Android P’s new gesture controls enabled, then head to your home screen settings and enable “Overview selection” inside of the “Suggestions” submenu.

Now open up a snap, then quickly open up the task switcher. From there, the snap freezes in time, so you don’t need to rush anymore. Just long-press on the card in the app switcher and tap “Share.” Now, you can share the screenshot however you want (like to Google Drive, for example).

Method 2: Google Assistant

Going back two generations of Android compatibility, this Google Assistant-driven method will work for those of you on Android 7.0 and later. Once you open up a Snap, quickly long-press your home button to trigger Google Assistant. From there, hit “Share screenshot,” then share it wherever you’d like to.

Method 3: Copy App

This final method is probably the most out of the way, but it’s the only option if you’re on Android 6.0. First, you need to download an app called Copy (Text & Screenshots) by developer weberdo. Copy makes itself your default “Assist app,” rather than Google Assistant. Either search for “Copy (Text & Screenshots)” in the Google Play Store, or tap the link below to go directly to it. Then, install it and open it up.

Once you open it up, Copy will ask that you make it the default assistance app. Do so by tapping the “Open Settings” button, and then tapping “Device assistance app” on the next screen. From the list, select “Copy,” then you’re all set. Copy replaces Google Assistant as the default app when you long-press your home button, but you can always use Assistant in the Google app if you need it.

Now, open up Snapchat and bring up the Snap you want to screenshot. Just as in Method 2, long-press the home button. But now Copy’s overlay will show up instead of Google Assistant. You’ll see a bunch of rectangles appear here, but those are just outlines of your “Quick Add” section — they won’t appear in the final screenshot. To take a screenshot, tap the picture icon in the bottom-right corner. Then, you’ll be able to share it just as you do anything else.

Don’t tell me you are not a Snapchat user. If you weren’t, this post wouldn’t have grabbed your attention.

Despite having Instagram and other photo sharing apps, we made Snapchat popular only because it allows us to send self-destructing messages. Back in the day, there were a number of third-party apps, which provided an option to save content from Snapchat. But after a massive hack that caused users’ media loss, the company has strengthened its API and security standards.

You can’t save media, and it will notify the owner in case you take screenshot as well. That’s why I have thought about writing an article on how to take screenshot on Snapchat without let them knowing. Recently, I have also shared many snapchat secrets and tricks.

Are you ready to find out the procedure? Here you go!

How to Take Screenshot on Snapchat Without Sender Being Notified?

How to screenshot and share snapchat snaps

After my research and a few trial and error experiments I got two working methods to take a screenshot of a Snapchat snap.

Method 1: Using Flight Mode (For Both Android & iOS Phones)

Here you are going to reap the benefits of the flight mode of your device. In case you are reluctant to enable flight mode, I have included an alternate way below.

Just follow the steps to know how to take screenshot on Snapchat Android without notification.

Step 1: You have to disable everything that prevents background app running at first. As we are dealing with Snapchat here, I recommend checking whether the Travel Mode on the app is disabled or not. If you find it activated, you must revert it back to the disabled state.

Step 2: You have cleared the setting of Snapchat app. Now, it’s time to take off the blockage of background activity from your phone itself. So, make sure you don’t have any battery saving option enabled.

Step 3: Everything is set for capturing the screenshot of a snap. Whenever you get a new snap notification, you should not open it right away. Instead, you have to wait a few seconds (let’s say a minute) to get it fully loaded. Then, head over to settings or notification panel to activate Flight Mode. (Alternatively, you can disable the mobile network and wifi as well. It cuts the network connection of your phone).

You can do the same by long pressing the power button and choosing the option accordingly as well.

Step 4: After you turn the flight mode option on, you need to get back to the app and open the snap. It’s screenshot time! You should be really quick provided the self-destructive feature of each snap.

Hence take a quick screenshot without allowing the time to pass by.

Step 5: Once you take the screenshot, the instant mobile data activation will not work for your purpose. It is needed to force-close Snapchat app to stay anonymous. So follow Settings>> Apps>> Snapchat and choose force close to prevent the background process.

Usually, both the sender and receiver get a notification about the screenshot capture. But you will never get one here, neither do your friends. I have tried this method a lot and didn’t find even a 0.1% failure.

Hurray! There you go! You now know how to take screenshot on Snapchat app. In order to give you the best-in-class convenience, I have included another method too. You can use either one of them based on the convenience and simplicity.

Method 2: Using Google Now (For Android devices only)

Here we are going to make use of Google Now on Tap. If you own an Android device with version less than 6.0 Marshmallow, you will never find it useful because the Google Now on Tap feature is only available on phones with android version greater than Android Marshmallow.

Follow the steps given below to know how to take screenshot on Android.

Step 1: Take up your Android phone. You need to make sure that Google Now on Tap is enabled. Go to Settings>> Google>> Search & Now >> Now on Tap. In case you find the option is turned off, don’t hesitate to reverse the same.

Step 2: From the next time you receive a Snap notification, you don’t have to backout from keeping a copy. Just open the Snap. You know it is not going to last forever. So, follow the next step without further ado.

Step 3: Press and hold the home button to open the Google Now launcher. And, hit the share button given on the left side of the screen.

Step 4: You will get a number of sharing channels. As we are not going to share it on social media, don’t select those popular services. All you have to use is Upload to Photos.

That’s all! The picture is saved in your phone right NOW. The best fact about this method is no one will ever ask for methods or grade.

Just like the above method, this one too is found useful.

Method 3: Take SnapChat ScreenShots Using Third Party Apps (For iOS Users)

The above methods are exclusively available for Android only. Maybe you have an iOS device, who see your phone as a symbol of excellence. That’s why I have collected the method to take screenshot on Snapchat for iOS as well.

You need a third-party app called Sneakaboo. It will not ask you for anything as the application is free. It displays direct option to take a screenshot. So you don’t have to wait or confuse yourself, just start using it.

Wrapping Up

I have given you three different methods to take screenshot on Snapchat without letting your partner know about it. If you are creative enough, you can come up with your own methods as well. Here, I utilized switching between flight mode and other notification settings. So, you can also do something like that.
