For those moments when you need to take a sneaky screenshot that doesn’t notify the sender, Android has plenty of ways to keep your cover from being blown — no root needed.

For this to work, speed is the name of the game. Taking a screenshot is probably second nature to you, but toggling Google Assistant may not be. So be ready to call upon it before the Snap disappears. After all, you don’t want to use your daily replay on this — then the sender will know something is up for sure. Unfortunately, those on Android 5.0 or earlier won’t be able to use any of these methods, but everyone else should find one that suits their needs.

Method 1: Android P Multitasking UI

While this method is probably the easiest, it requires you to be on the Android P beta, which is only available to select devices right now. However, if you’re already on it, you’ll be rewarded in spades.

To get things ready, make sure you have Android P’s new gesture controls enabled, then head to your home screen settings and enable “Overview selection” inside of the “Suggestions” submenu.

Now open up a snap, then quickly open up the task switcher. From there, the snap freezes in time, so you don’t need to rush anymore. Just long-press on the card in the app switcher and tap “Share.” Now, you can share the screenshot however you want (like to Google Drive, for example).

Method 2: Google Assistant

Going back two generations of Android compatibility, this Google Assistant-driven method will work for those of you on Android 7.0 and later. Once you open up a Snap, quickly long-press your home button to trigger Google Assistant. From there, hit “Share screenshot,” then share it wherever you’d like to.

Method 3: Copy App

This final method is probably the most out of the way, but it’s the only option if you’re on Android 6.0. First, you need to download an app called Copy (Text & Screenshots) by developer weberdo. Copy makes itself your default “Assist app,” rather than Google Assistant. Either search for “Copy (Text & Screenshots)” in the Google Play Store, or tap the link below to go directly to it. Then, install it and open it up.

Once you open it up, Copy will ask that you make it the default assistance app. Do so by tapping the “Open Settings” button, and then tapping “Device assistance app” on the next screen. From the list, select “Copy,” then you’re all set. Copy replaces Google Assistant as the default app when you long-press your home button, but you can always use Assistant in the Google app if you need it.

Now, open up Snapchat and bring up the Snap you want to screenshot. Just as in Method 2, long-press the home button. But now Copy’s overlay will show up instead of Google Assistant. You’ll see a bunch of rectangles appear here, but those are just outlines of your “Quick Add” section — they won’t appear in the final screenshot. To take a screenshot, tap the picture icon in the bottom-right corner. Then, you’ll be able to share it just as you do anything else.

After my research and a few trial and error experiments I got two working methods to take a screenshot of a Snapchat snap.

Method 1: Using Flight Mode (For Both Android & iOS Phones)

Here you are going to reap the benefits of the flight mode of your device. In case you are reluctant to enable flight mode, I have included an alternate way below.

Just follow the steps to know how to take screenshot on Snapchat Android without notification.

Step 1: You have to disable everything that prevents background app running at first. As we are dealing with Snapchat here, I recommend checking whether the Travel Mode on the app is disabled or not. If you find it activated, you must revert it back to the disabled state.

Step 2: You have cleared the setting of Snapchat app. Now, it’s time to take off the blockage of background activity from your phone itself. So, make sure you don’t have any battery saving option enabled.

Step 3: Everything is set for capturing the screenshot of a snap. Whenever you get a new snap notification, you should not open it right away. Instead, you have to wait a few seconds (let’s say a minute) to get it fully loaded. Then, head over to settings or notification panel to activate Flight Mode. (Alternatively, you can disable the mobile network and wifi as well. It cuts the network connection of your phone).

You can do the same by long pressing the power button and choosing the option accordingly as well.

Step 4: After you turn the flight mode option on, you need to get back to the app and open the snap. It’s screenshot time! You should be really quick provided the self-destructive feature of each snap.

Hence take a quick screenshot without allowing the time to pass by.

Step 5: Once you take the screenshot, the instant mobile data activation will not work for your purpose. It is needed to force-close Snapchat app to stay anonymous. So follow Settings>> Apps>> Snapchat and choose force close to prevent the background process.

Usually, both the sender and receiver get a notification about the screenshot capture. But you will never get one here, neither do your friends. I have tried this method a lot and didn’t find even a 0.1% failure.

Hurray! There you go! You now know how to take screenshot on Snapchat app. In order to give you the best-in-class convenience, I have included another method too. You can use either one of them based on the convenience and simplicity.

Method 2: Using Google Now (For Android devices only)

Here we are going to make use of Google Now on Tap. If you own an Android device with version less than 6.0 Marshmallow, you will never find it useful because the Google Now on Tap feature is only available on phones with android version greater than Android Marshmallow.

Follow the steps given below to know how to take screenshot on Android.

Step 1: Take up your Android phone. You need to make sure that Google Now on Tap is enabled. Go to Settings>> Google>> Search & Now >> Now on Tap. In case you find the option is turned off, don’t hesitate to reverse the same.

Step 2: From the next time you receive a Snap notification, you don’t have to backout from keeping a copy. Just open the Snap. You know it is not going to last forever. So, follow the next step without further ado.

Step 3: Press and hold the home button to open the Google Now launcher. And, hit the share button given on the left side of the screen.

Step 4: You will get a number of sharing channels. As we are not going to share it on social media, don’t select those popular services. All you have to use is Upload to Photos.

That’s all! The picture is saved in your phone right NOW. The best fact about this method is no one will ever ask for methods or grade.

Just like the above method, this one too is found useful.

Method 3: Take SnapChat ScreenShots Using Third Party Apps (For iOS Users)

The above methods are exclusively available for Android only. Maybe you have an iOS device, who see your phone as a symbol of excellence. That’s why I have collected the method to take screenshot on Snapchat for iOS as well.

You need a third-party app called Sneakaboo. It will not ask you for anything as the application is free. It displays direct option to take a screenshot. So you don’t have to wait or confuse yourself, just start using it.
