The new Apple TV is out and with it the new-fangled tvOS. While it’s not substantially different than the previous Apple TV, it is different enough that we want to show you how to rearrange, configure, and delete apps and games on it.
When you first start up the new Apple TV, you’ll notice that it bears a resemblance to the older version of Apple TV, and that’s a good thing. Obviously, Apple doesn’t want things to be too different, otherwise users might get frustrated with all the changes.
That said, there are several new variations you want to be aware of with the new device. This includes removing apps and games, as well as specific settings.
Moving Tiles and Configuring Apple and Games
Moving tiles around on the home screen still works the same, you simply select the item you want to move, press and hold the select button (basically the top half) on your remote until the tiles start shaking (like on iOS), and then move it to its new location.
Moving tiles on the home screen is the same as it was before.
When it comes to configuring apps and games, you can go about it in one of two ways. Most will have a “Settings” option in the upper-right corner of the menu bar along the top. Here you’re going to find options such as help and support, legal information, as well as the ability to log in/log out.
Most apps will have the Settings option in the menu bar at the top.
The second option for configuring app settings is to actually use the “Settings” tile on the Apple TV home screen.
Once you’re in the Settings, choose “Apps” from the list. On the Apps screen, you’ll see an option at the very top that will allow your Apple TV to automatically update apps.
Below this are individual app settings, in this instance for Music, iTunes Movies and TV Shows, Computers, and Netflix.
Some apps, such as the baked in Apple TV apps have their settings in the Apps settings.
Here is what you will expect to find in the Music settings.
As well as what is contained with the iTunes Movies and TV Shows settings.
There’s nothing substantial to the Netflix settings, so if you want to sign in or sign out, among other things, you will need to use the settings options as described earlier.
On games, such as here with Crossy Road, you will need to press the Menu button on your remote to access the options.
Settings for games such as Crossy Road can be accessed by pressing the Menu button.
Let’s move on now to how to remove apps and games from your Apple TV.
Removing Apps and Games from Your Apple TV
If you want to remove apps and games from your Apple TV, you need to choose the “General” option in the Settings, which is the first one at the top.
From the General category, choose “Manage Storage”.
Under the Storage settings, you will see all your apps and games laid out in a list. Each one will tell you how much storage they’re taking up. Next to each, there will be a a trash icon, click the icon, confirm you want to delete the app or game, and it will be removed from your device.
If you find you’re running out of storage or there are just apps you don’t want on your Apple TV anymore, you can remove them from the Storage settings.
Beyond this, there’s little else you need to know about configuring apps and games on Apple TV. For the most part, it is a very painless process (as it should be) so you will probably never have to do anything beyond moving things around and occasionally removing apps or games you don’t use.
We hope you found this article useful. If you have any questions or comments you would like to contribute, please leave them in our our discussion forum. We appreciate your feedback.
The new Apple TV comes with app store support, as well as some pre-installed apps. App store gives you access to the number of third-party apps that make your TV experience exciting. It also comes along with the smartest ever Siri remote, which makes navigation simpler.
TV OS is somewhat relevant to iOS so you can manage apps on your Apple TV, the way you want. You can move or delete any apps. To make it easier to understand, we have divided this guide into two parts: moving and deleting of apps on fourth-generation Apple TV.
How to Move Apps on your Apple TV

Step #2. Now again, on Siri remote hold the touch surface and you will see the app jiggle like it does on iOS.
Step #3. Swipe left or right on Siri remote to move the app.
Step #4. Once you are done arranging your app, simply touch the surface on Siri remote.
Step #5. Repeat the steps, if you want to move other apps.
Now let’s see how to delete unwanted apps from your Apple TV. Check out the guide given below.
How to Delete Apps on your Apple TV
Step #1. Select the app you wish to delete, using Siri remote.
Step #2. Same as above touch and hold the surface on your Siri remote, till you see your app icon dancing.
Step #3. On your Siri remote, press the Play/Pause button, this will bring an options menu.
Step #4. From the options, select Delete. In case you have enabled restrictions, you will be asked to enter the passcode to confirm the operation.

The Apple TV offers a plethora of third-party apps and games via its App Store in addition to the Apple-made apps that come pre-installed. With hundreds of apps available, you’re going to want some way to organize them — and delete the ones that take up too much space.
Fortunately, it’s easy to do exactly that once you know how. Here’s how to rearrange, force quit, and delete apps on Apple TV.
How to rearrange apps on Apple TV
Getting your Apple TV Home screen just right can take a bit of time, but it beats searching through tons of icons to find the right app each and every time you want to open it.
- Navigate to the icon of the app you want to move by swiping.
Press and hold the clickpad center (second-generation Siri Remote) or touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) until the app starts to jiggle.
Source: iMore
- You can also drag the icon and hover it over another app icon to create a folder.
How to force quit an app on Apple TV
If an app has crashed, frozen, or otherwise started to act up, you can force quit it much like you would on your iPhone or iPad. Here’s how.
- Double-click the TV button.
In the app-switching view, navigate to the app you wish to quit by swiping left or right.
Source: iMore
Here you can view all the apps you currently have installed, sorted by most storage used to least storage used. You can also delete any app from this screen by clicking on the Trash icon.

How to delete an app on Apple TV
As well as using the aforementioned Trash icon, there’s an even more convenient way to delete an app right from your Apple TV Home screen.
- Navigate to the icon of the app you want to delete by swiping.
- Press and hold the clickpad center (second-generation Siri Remote) or touch surface (first-generation Siri Remote) until the app starts to jiggle.
Press the Play/Pause button.

As you begin downloading apps on the new Apple TV, you’ll want to take the time to rearrange the layout. Doing so will ensure that you have your favorite or most used apps quickly accessible.
Unlike previous-generation Apple TV devices, you can now move apps in and out of the top-shelf, which had previously been reserved for Apple’s own apps. Unfortunately, you can’t delete Apple’s apps.
With an app’s icon highlighted, press and hold the trackpad on the Apple TV remote until the icon begins wiggling. Swiping across the trackpad will move the app icon. When you’re happy with its new placement, click the trackpad once again to finalize the move.
Deleting an app from your Apple TV starts the same way: highlight the app icon, then press and hold the trackpad until the icon begins moving. Next, press the Play/Pause button on the remote. Confirm you want to delete the app on the following screen.

If you’re looking to add and manage apps on your smart TV, we’ve got some great news: it’s actually pretty easy. In this article, we will show you how to add apps to a Samsung Smart TV.
What are Apps, Anyway?
Apps are small programs that run on your smart TV. They can be games, streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, or even just tools like calculators or calendars — basically anything that allows you to do something extra with your device. The number of available apps is constantly growing as more people develop new software for these devices.
How to Download Apps on a Samsung Smart TV?
Firstly, you’ll need to turn on and connect your Samsung smart TV to the internet. To do this, plug in the Ethernet cable that came with your television or use an alternative Wi-Fi connection method. Then, follow the steps below to add apps to a Samsung smart TV.
- Go to the Home screen of your smart TV and look for Apps (depending on your model, this icon may be located in a different location). Navigate to that section of your smart TV’s menu system.
- Select “Apps” from the list of options that appears on your screen. This will take you to a page where you can see all of the apps installed on your TV, like Netflix and so much more.
- On the screen, you will see different categories like “my apps,”“what’s new,”“most popular,”“video,”“lifestyle,” and “entertainment.” To download an app, click on an app icon like YouTube or Hulu Plus and then press “Install.” You can similarly click on a magnification tool at the top right corner of the TV screen and enter the name of the app you want to download. Then, you select the app and click “install” to start downloading the app.
Manage apps on a Samsung smart TV
Now, you have learnt how to add apps on a smart TV, what comes next?
You can go ahead and manage the downloaded apps and make the most of your TV’s capabilities. And once you know how, it’s actually pretty simple!
First things first: You can set up your downloaded apps to where you would love to see them. To add the apps to the smart TV Home Screen, you will click on “Apps”. After this click on “settings” at the top right corner. Select the app you wish to add to the Home Screen and click on “Add to Home.”
Secondly, you can set up auto-updates for your apps. By doing this, your apps get upgraded once there is a new update. You can do this by using the home button on your remote to navigate to “Apps.” Select “settings” at the top right corner of your screen. Next, select “Auto-update” for all your apps.
If you feel the need to lock or unlock an app, maybe to prevent your kids from using them when you are not home, then it is easy. Simply press the home button on your remote. Then, click on “Apps” and select “Settings” at the top right corner of the screen. Next, highlight the app and select “lock” or “unlock”. This function has a default PIN which is “0000”. You can change this by clicking “Settings” and selecting “General”. After this, navigate to “System Manager” and select “Change Pin”. You can go ahead and set the pin you want.
Finally, you can easily remove apps from your smart TV. Some recommended apps can’t be removed completely, but can be removed from the Home Screen options. To delete downloaded apps, you would press the home button on your remote and select “Apps.” Next, select “Settings” at the top right corner of the screen. Then, click on the app you wish to delete and go ahead and delete it. To remove apps from your home screen, you would navigate to the place where the app is on your screen. Once you’ve installed apps on your Apple Watch, there are two simple ways to delete them should you decide you no longer want them on your wrist. You can use your iPhone’s Watch app, or you can delete directly from your Apple Watch itself.
How to Delete Apps on Apple Watch Directly
When you’re ready to delete apps from your Apple Watch, head to the app grid on your wrist gadget.
Select the Digital Crown to bring up the apps on your Apple Watch. If you’re using List View, you’ll see a list instead of a grid.
Find the app you want to delete. You can swipe around the face itself with a finger or turn the Digital Crown to shrink or enlarge the app icons. If you’re in List View, scroll up and down the list to find the app you want to delete.
Once you can see the app you’re deleting, tap and hold its icon (or its name in List View) until it starts to wiggle, and you see a big X in the upper left-hand corner of the icon. This will look familiar if you’ve deleted apps from your iPhone or iPad before.
Tap the X to delete the app, then confirm the action with a tap on the Delete App button.
You can then delete other apps the same way, or you can click the Digital Crown to take the Apple Watch out of this mode. If you want to move apps around, you can do so while the icons have an X on them.
You cannot remove stock apps from Apple Watch at this time.
How to Remove Apps From Apple Watch on your iPhone
This used to be the way you had to manage your apps for Apple Watch. Now it’s just a different way to do so.
Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
Scroll down past the Apple-supplied apps to the third-party apps section.
You cannot uninstall first-party Apple apps from your Apple Watch.
Tap an app you want to delete.
Toggle the Show App on Apple Watch switch to Gray/White.
A little message will appear underneath, saying Uninstalling.
When the message disappears, the app is deleted from your Apple Watch.
If you want to put the app back on your Apple Watch, return to the Watch app, scroll past the apps that are already on your watch to the Available Apps section.
Tap the Install button to the right of the app you want to reinstall on your Apple Watch. Wait for the familiar circle around a square icon to finish spinning. If you change your mind while reinstalling, tap the square to stop the reinstall.
Turn off Automatic App Install
If you’re finding that you don’t want all the Apple Watch-enabled apps from your iPhone ending up on your Apple Watch (the default setting), you can turn it off and install apps manually via the new Apple Watch App Store or your iPhone.
Launch the Watch app on your iPhone.
Make sure the My Watch tab is selected at the bottom left.
Tap General to go to the settings you need.
Tap the toggle switch to the right of Automatic App Install to turn it off. The green button will turn to gray/white.
Now you won’t have every app you put on your iPhone appearing on your Apple Watch, saving you clutter and space (for apps you want, music, or photos).

I have never used my Photos app to properly sort my pictures into albums, and I’m going to make an educated guess and say that this is true for most of us. We take a bunch of photos at an event or with friends, share the ones we love, and let the others take up space on our devices. When it comes time to find a photo, I’m always searching through the All Photos album, scanning for the one I need. But there is a better way! I found Slidebox because I was looking for an app that would let me easily create albums, sort photos into those albums, and delete the photos I don’t need to keep. To my absolute delight, Slidebox allows me to do this super easily by using swiping gestures to quickly sort through photos like you sort through potential connections on Tinder. Learn more on why I love this app and what it does below.
Slidebox (Free)
What It Does
It takes two seconds to set up Slidebox and you’re ready to start using gestures and swipes to get organized. When you first set up the app, it will show you the basic instructions on the screen. I’ve listed the basic gestures in bullet points and added some extra info to each one below:
Swipe Left/Right to navigate.
If you don’t want to sort a photo into an album or delete it, you can simply swipe left to move on to the next photo. Or, you may want to look through multiple similar photos by swiping left and right before deciding which to keep.
Swipe up to Trash
When you swipe up and move a photo to trash, it isn’t automatically deleted. That means if you make a mistake, there is no need to panic. You can tap on the trash can in the upper right corner of the screen to either restore any photos you accidentally moved to trash or permanently delete the photos. When you permanently delete the photos, they will be removed from your Photos app (and therefore iCloud library) as well.
Tap Album to Sort
At the bottom of the Unsorted tab, you’ll see your albums. You can add new albums or add albums that already exist in your Photos app. Once you’ve added an album, it will appear at the bottom. That way, you can swipe through the albums and easily tap on one to add the current photo to that album.
Long Press to Share
If you want to share a photo that’s Unsorted in the Slidebox app, you can simply tap and hold it. The Share menu will pop up. From there, you can share it via messages, email, or social media. You can also copy, print, save to Files, turn it into an Apple Watch Face, and more.
Tap Photo to Zoom & More
Want to view a photo full screen? Quick tap the photo and it will zoom. You can also use two fingers to pinch to zoom in and out. When you tap on a photo and make it fullscreen, you’ll see a star at the bottom. Tap the star to add the photo to your Favorites. If the star is yellow, it’s in your Favorites. In which case, you would tap the star again to remove it from Favorites.
Why We Love It
Don’t worry if the information above feels like too much all at once. The app is really great about keeping the instructions super simple, and if you need a refresher at any time, tap the question mark in the upper left corner of the Unsorted tab in the app. Once you get the first three gestures down, you can manage, organize, and delete thousands of photos more quickly than ever before. It’s good to note that changes you make to your photos in this app will be mimicked in the Photos app; so if you create a new album and sort a hundred photos into it, you’ll see that album in the Photos app with all the photos you added.
We see gestures used in lots of apps, but I would argue that Slidebox makes the best use of them. I have 6000 photos to sort through but it doesn’t feel like an overwhelming task because of how easily I’m able to sort a photo into an album, delete it, or skip it. The app has four tabs for all of your photo management needs: Unsorted, Favorites, Timeline, and Albums. Unsorted is the page you’re on the most, because it’s where you swipe to organize. Apple TV and tvOS
With Apple TV on tvOS, users can now play games, use productivity and social apps, watch movies, and enjoy shared experiences. All of these new features bring new opportunities for developers.
tvOS is derived from iOS but is a distinct OS, including some frameworks that are supported only on tvOS. You’ll find that the familiarity of iOS development, combined with support for a shared, multiuser experience, opens up areas of possibilities for app development that you won’t find on iOS devices. You can create new apps or use your iOS code as a starting point for a tvOS app. Either way, you use tools (Xcode) and languages (Objective-C, Swift, and JavaScript) that you are already familiar with. This document describes the unique capabilities of Apple TV and provides pointers to in-depth information that will get you started developing a tvOS app.
When porting an existing project, you can include an additional target in your Xcode project to simplify sharing of resources, but you need to create new storyboards for tvOS. Likely, you will need to look at how users navigate through your app and adapt your app’s user interface to Apple TV. For more information, see Apple TV Human Interface Guidelines .
A new Apple TV-specific provisioning profile is required for Apple TV development and distribution, which is used with your existing iOS development and distribution signing identities. You create a new Apple TV provisioning profile the same way that you create an iOS provisioning profile, using Fix Issue in Xcode, or through the developer portal website. For information on capabilities supported by Apple TV, see Supported Capabilities .
Although iOS and tvOS apps are distinct entities (meaning there isn’t a single binary that runs on both platforms), you can create a universal purchase that bundles these apps. The user purchases an app once, and gets the iOS version for their iOS devices and a tvOS version for Apple TV. For more information, see App Distribution Guide .

When you buy your first-ever iPad, Apple makes it particularly quick and easy to get going. As soon as you get your second, though, then you need to take these certain steps to get the new one working just how you like.
If you do already have an iPad, then the most likely thing is that you are buying a new 10.2-inch iPad to be a replacement. If the old one was your daily workhorse, that’s what you want this one to be — and you want it because it’s faster, has a better screen, or because you now know for sure what storage capacity you need.
You could swap to the new iPad and give the other away, or store it somewhere as a spare. You could set both the new and old up identically, with the same apps arranged in the same places on your homescreen, and all with precisely the same settings and documents.
Or, you could choose to devote one iPad for certain tasks, and the other for something else. Such as having an iPad Pro that you use for work and now adding an iPad mini that you chiefly have to read on for pleasure.
The different ways of setting up an iPad
Aside from setting up your first-ever iPad, that’s three different options to think about. Replacing the old iPad entirely, setting up a twin, or setting up the new iPad as a separate device.
It really a separate device, though, because however many iPads you’ve got, you need to sign in with an Apple ID.
There’s nothing to stop you creating a new Apple ID for every iPad, iPhone and Mac you own, but that way lies madness. You cannot recombine Apple IDs later and you will forever lose track of which account has which email on it.
So regardless of how you plan to use this new iPad, you have to add it to your current Apple ID. Beyond that, you really need to backup your old one.
Back up your old iPad first
If you’ve been around Apple devices for long enough, you know that there used to be an issue over whether you backed up your iOS device to iCloud or to a Mac. There isn’t as much any more. You can choose whichever is convenient for you.
The real difference is that if you backup an iPad to a Mac, then everything on it gets backed up, including your apps and any media such as books or video. If you backup to iCloud, it’s your settings that get stored, not the content.
This needn’t be significant as if you backup to iCloud and then restore from it, your iPad will re-download all the apps and all the content that you had.
Inevitably, that’s going to be slower than restoring everything from a Mac, though. So the Mac is best option, but iCloud works fine enough.
Whichever way you do it, back up even if you intend to use the new iPad as a separate device. On the one hand, it’s good to make regular backups anyway. But on the other, it’s easiest to put all your old apps on the new iPad and then remove what you don’t want.
How to back up your old iPad on a Mac
- Plug the iPad into your Mac
- Open a Finder window and click on the iPad’s name
- Choose either Back up your most important data on your iPad to iCloud
- Or choose Back up all the data on your iPad to this Mac
- Click Back Up Now
How to back up your old iPad without a Mac
- Open Settings on your iPad
- Tap on your name at the top
- Tap iCloud
- Choose iCloud Backup
- Tap Back Up Now
In either case, you now have a backup of your iPad which will speed setting up your new one considerably. Next you need to prepare that new iPad.
How to set up the new iPad
Begin the process by using what Apple calls Quick Start, first introduced with the iPhone 8 and iOS 11.. Place your new iPad beside your old one, and turn both on.
After a moment, the new iPad should recognize that you have an existing one, and it will offer to use the Apple ID associated with that older device. Tap Continue to accept that and then hold the new iPad over the old one.
An animation will appear on the old device. Hold the new iPad over it so that the camera shows you the animation on the screen. When it appears, tap on Finish on New iPad.
You’ll have to manually enter your Apple ID and password on the new iPad, to make sure that it is you doing this. And then you’ll have to go through the setup steps of adding Face ID or Touch ID on the new device.
Restore all your apps
This has effectively made the new iPad yours, in that it has your Apple ID on it. Go the rest of the way and have the App Store reinstall all of your apps — which you do through the restore process.
Your new iPad will offer you the option of reinstalling apps, and restoring data and settings from the backup you just made, and this is always the fastest route. Tap to choose this and you’ll be shown a list of recent backups with their dates.
Pick the latest one by taping on the most recent date. Then just wait for your iPad to do the restore. This may take some time, depending on the size of the apps you’re reinstalling.
Finish setting up the new iPad
Once all of your apps are on the new iPad, you could go through removing any you don’t want on it. Equally, you could now go to the App Store to add any that you haven’t got on your old iPad.
In practice, you’re going to find that it’s best to do this over time. Don’t delete any apps until you’ve used the iPad for a while and learned what you really do or don’t want on it.
Finish with the old iPad
If you’re keeping the old iPad, you’re done. The two machines will work perfectly together, and you’ll keep forgetting which one needs charging up.
However, if you’re going to get rid of that iPad — either by selling it to a stranger or giving it to a family member — you must do certain things. Basically, you’re removing your Apple ID and returning the old iPad to its out-of-the-box state.
How to remove your data and iCloud user ID from your old iPad
- Back up your old iPad again to be sure
- Go to Settings and tap on your name
- Scroll to the bottom and choose Sign Out
- Go back to Settings and chose iTunes & App Store
- Tap on your Apple ID and choose Sign Out
- Go back to Settings and now choose General, Reset, Erase All Content and Settings
- If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password
Now your old iPad is ready for someone else to set up as their own. And your new one is ready for you to work on.

Apple continues to make it easier and easier to migrate all your data from an old device to a new device. And with its Prepare for New iPhone, it’s almost seamless!
Getting access to temporary iCloud storage to backup your old device’s data makes a huge difference, especially for folks that don’t use a paid iCloud subscription plan.
If you bought the new Apple Watch Series 7 and are wondering how to migrate to the new model without losing your data, we’ll help you out. The process is quite simple, but requires some attention to detail.
Read also:
The Apple Watch Series 7 is already available for purchase since October 15, starting at $399. For those looking to migrate from an older model to the new release, it is necessary first of all to backup the data from the gadget and then disconnect from iPhone. Read on and understand the process.
Requirements
Before you start the device migration, make sure you have the below requirements:
- Apple ID and password.
- Both your new and old Apple Watch must be connected to Wi-Fi.
- Make sure both your Apple Watch and iPhone have at least a 50 percent charge.
- The Apple Watch passcode.
Method 1: Using the old Apple Watch backup
Let’s start by saving the data from the old model, so when you finish setting up the new Apple Watch, your information will be migrated by retrieving the backup data.
First of all, it must be said that Apple Watch data are backed up on the paired iPhone automatically, so you don’t need to do anything to have a backup of your smartwatch.
However, Apple informs that the data backup of the watch will be backed up directly on iCloud for family members who do not own an iPhone.
Warning. According to Apple, among the items not included in Apple Watch backups are:
- Bluetooth pairing data.
- Credit or debit card data used for Apple Pay.
- Apple Watch password.
- Messages.
That said, follow the step-by-step below to pair your new Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone to start the pairing process. The good news is that you can add the new Apple Watch model before removing the old one:
- All Watches >Add Watch.
- Turn on your new Apple Watch and look for the pairing sphere code by following the instructions on the watch’s screen.
- When prompted, choose to restore your new Apple Watch from a backup and choose the most recent one.
- If you are not finding the backup data, move on to the next method.
Method 2: Forcing an old Apple Watch backup
If you are unable to pair the new Apple Watch Series 7 using the method described above, the solution is to force an old Apple Watch backup. This is necessary in cases where the backup of your information is not available via iCloud or Mac/PC, or your iPhone.
For this, Apple suggests following the tutorial below:
- Keep your paired Apple Watch and iPhone together.
- Open the Watch app on iPhone.
- Tap the All Watches option at the top left of the screen, then tap the “i” on the right side of the watch face.
- Tap Unpair Apple Watch. Important: During the unpairing process, your Apple Watch will make a new backup to your iPhone.
- Follow the instructions to unpair your current watch.
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone to begin the pairing process for your new Watch.
- Turn on your new Apple Watch and look for the pairing sphere code, follow the instructions.
- When prompted, choose to restore the most recent backup version of your previous Apple Watch.
Done. After following the method that works best for you, your new Apple Watch model will be shuffled with your iPhone and you can enjoy all the features Apple offers.
What’s up, do you use an Apple Watch? What did you think of this tutorial?
Good for freeing up storage and other reasons
If you have a lot of Nintendo Switch games downloaded onto the console, it’s likely you’ve come across storage space issues. The Switch comes with only 32GB of internal storage, and downloading only a few games will quickly use that all up.
If you haven’t yet invested in an SD card for your system, which can immensely upgrade your Switch’s storage, you’ll have to resort to archiving or deleting games. You can also delete game save data in any game in order to get even more space.
In this article, you’ll find how you can archive games, delete game save data, as well as how to offload games onto your SD card.
How to Archive/Delete Games
When you archive a game off of your Switch home screen, what you’re really doing is saving the program data to cloud storage as opposed to the console itself. You’ll still be able to download it onto your Switch again later. You can also opt to delete a game from the home screen, though this won’t remove your game progress data. Here’s how to archive or delete games.
- Find the game you want to delete on your Switch home screen.
- Press the – or + button on your controller.
- On the pop up menu, go to Manage Software.
- Choose either Archive Software or Delete Software depending on what you want to do.
Archiving will keep the game’s icon on the home screen, giving you the option to easily re-download it at any time. If you choose to delete the game from your home screen, you’ll have to go back to the eShop to redownload the game (you won’t have to buy it again, though.)
If you want even more space available on your Switch, you can also delete the save data from the game.
How to Delete Game Save Data
Archiving or deleting a game should free up a lot of space, but if you find it’s not enough, you can also delete the save data from these games. This can be a good option if you don’t think you’ll play the game again for a while and don’t mind having your game progress erased.
- Go to the Settings from your home screen, which looks like a gear icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Go to Data Management > Delete Save Data.
- Choose the game you want to delete save data for.
- Choose whether you want to delete the save data from a certain user, or if you want to delete all the game save data.
Once the game save data is erased, you won’t be able to get it back. However, you can still re-download the game itself.
How to Move Games to an SD Card
If you don’t want to worry about deleting and redownloading games, the best option is to get an SD card. With these, you can have up to 2TB of space available for your games, depending on the card you get.
Once you get one of these, you’ll be able to save games onto the SD card and have access to them whenever you want, without having to wait for a game to redownload. Make sure the SD card is inserted into the Switch, in the port on the back underneath the pull-out stand.
Follow these steps to then move games to the SD card.
- Open the Settings from the Switch home screen.
- Go to Data Management > Move Data Between Console/microSD Card.
- Select Move to microSD Card.
- Choose which games you want to download to the SD card.
- Select Move Data.
Once you insert an SD card, any games or software you download from then on will be automatically downloaded to the card. Anything saved to the internal storage will stay there until you move it.
Why Deleting Game Data Can Be Useful
Besides being able to have space for other games on your Switch, you may also want to delete game programs or save data for other reasons. It’s always a good idea to keep some space open on your Switch for updates, as there are many updates released often for both the system and the games you may own.
Also if you run out of space on your Switch, you’ll run into trouble when creating new save files for games you are playing. So, if you’re playing your Switch without an SD card, it’s a good idea to make sure you remove games you tend not to play as much so you always have enough space.
If you plan on buying more physical games than digital, it may be okay to go without getting an SD card. However, getting one is a good idea in general because you’ll never have to worry about space when you have one.
Deleting Data on the Switch
If you follow the guide above carefully, you should have no problem removing games and game save data carefully. No matter what, you’ll also always be able to re-download games you’ve bought previously from the eShop.
Tell us about how you manage your Switch’s storage in the comments below.

With Microsoft PowerPoint speaker notes, you have your talking points handy during your presentation. But if you decide to remove those notes, it can be a tedious task. We’ll show you how to remove the presentation notes all at once.
How to Remove PowerPoint Presenter Notes
As a reminder, you can delete individual speaker notes easily. Open the presentation notes using the Notes button in the PowerPoint status bar or by clicking “Notes” in the ribbon on the View tab.
Go to the slide with the notes that you want to delete, click in the Notes area, and remove the text. You can do this quickly by selecting all of the text and hitting your Delete key.
While this is fine for deleting notes on a handful of slides, it can be time-consuming if you have dozens of slides. Here’s how to remove them all in one fell swoop.
Click File > Info. Under Inspect Presentation, you’ll see that your slideshow contains presentation notes.
Click the “Check for Issues” drop-down box in that section, and then select “Inspect Document.”
You’ll see many items that you can inspect your document for, so remember this convenient tool for those types of things later.
For this task, you’ll only check the box for “Presentation Notes” at the bottom, and uncheck the rest. When you’re ready, click “Inspect.”
After a moment, you’ll see the results letting you know that the presentation notes were found during the inspection. Click “Remove All.”
And just like that, your presentation notes will be gone! You can hit “Close” if you’re finished with the Inspect Document tool.
Click the arrow on the top left to return to your slideshow, and you should no longer have speaker notes on your slides.
If you want a copy of those notes before you remove them, you can always save a copy of your presentation beforehand. Or, you can print just the speaker notes for a Microsoft PowerPoint slideshow.

What to Know
- Use Blank Page from the Insert menu to insert a blank page.
- Use Page Break on the Insert menu to insert a new page (or use the Ctrl + Enter keyboard shortcut).
- Choose one of the Breaks options in the Layout menu to add either a new page or a new section.
This article explains how to insert a page in Word for Office 365, Word 2019, Word 2016, Word 2013, and Word for Mac. The steps in this article work in Word for Office 365 or Word 2019.
All Versions of Word Can Insert a Page
Here are different ways to insert a page in Word.
The same features are available in older versions of Word, but menu selections may be slightly different.
Insert a Whole Blank Page in Word
Place the cursor after the section where you’d like to insert an entire blank page into your Word document. In the Insert menu, select Blank Page from the Pages section on the ribbon.
This will insert an entire blank page after the cursor. You can either leave the blank page as is or start typing new content into your new blank page.
End a Page Without Adding an Entire Blank Page
You don’t have to add a series of paragraph returns to push your text to the next page. Here’s how to tell Word you want to end the page early.
If you want to create a new page but not a completely blank one, then inserting a page break is a much better option. Move the cursor to where you’d like to insert a new page. In the Insert menu, select Page Break from the Pages section on the ribbon.
This will insert blank space from your cursor to an entirely new page, pushing the text under your cursor down onto the newly created page.
An even faster way to insert a new page break is placing the cursor where you’d like to create it and press Ctrl + Enter on the keyboard.
Use Layout to Add a Page Break
Another method to insert a page break is by using the Layout menu.
Insert the cursor where you’d like to insert a new page and select the Layout menu, and select Breaks in the Page Setup section on the ribbon.
Choose Page in the Page Breaks section for a simple page break. Or you can choose the type of section break you’d like in the Section Breaks section. Options here include Next Page, Continuous, Even Page, or Odd Page.
What’s the difference between inserting a page break or a section break? Both insert a new page for the text in the document. However a section break also lets you apply a different format to the new page if you’d like to. This includes different margins, headers and footers, and even page numbers.
You can’t just cut out a page from the middle of a Word document, but you can remove all of the text from a page, which will do the same thing. Either manually select everything on the page and press Delete, or place your cursor on the page and press Ctrl + G (Command + Option + G on a Mac) and enter /page in the Enter page number box and press Enter. When you close, that page will be fully selected; press Delete.
Blank pages at the end of a document are from extra line breaks. Place the cursor as low as it will go, and then press Delete until the extra pages are gone.

We were under the impression a new Apple TV box was on its way in 2020, but Apple has announced a small update to the unit due to arrive in second half of May.
In true Apple style, the company snuck an update of its Apple TV 4K box into the Spring Loaded event. Read on for all the details about the latest Apple TV 4K box.
When will the new Apple TV 4K box be released?
The new Apple TV 4K box will go on sale in the second half of May. It’s been a while since we last saw a new Apple TV player, with the previous model launching in 2017. You can order the new box from April 30.
How much does the new Apple TV 4K cost?
The 32GB and 64GB versions of the 1st-gen Apple TV 4K sell for £179 and £199 respectively – and the 2nd-gen Apple TV 4K will be priced similarly.
- Apple TV 4K (2021) – 32GB / £169
- Apple TV 4K (2021) – 64GB / £189
The Apple TV HD with the new Siri Remote will be available for £139. For anyone looking to pick up the new Siri Remote separately, it costs £55 and is compatible with the previous-gen Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
What does the new Apple TV 4K (2021) look like?
While we didn’t get much of a glimpse of the new Apple TV box, from what we did see during the Spring Loaded stream, the physical design looks the same.
Rumours ahead of the event mentioned that a new remote was in the works, and we did indeed see an update to it. The new Siri remote is a one-piece effort crafted out of aluminium. It bears a contrasting design to make it easier to determine the buttons, while the clip pad has been improved for a more intuitive response. The unit is also now touch-enabled.
New for the remote is the ability to control the volume and power of the TV, while the Siri button is located on the side of the remote.
What features will the new Apple TV box 2021 have?
The current box packs a powerful A10X chipset, but the new box will get the A12 Bionic processor. Unfortunately, speculation that there would be 64GB and 128GB versions did not come to pass.
There was some movement in terms of HDR support. HDR10 and Dolby Vision continue to be supported, but Apple also announced support for HDR HFR (High Frame Rate) at 60 frames per second. Given that a number of broadcasters have started to broadcast in HDR HFR, this is a good move. There was no word during the stream on whether HLG support is baked into the new box.
Also revealed in the presentation was the fact that the Apple TV 4K box will be able to calibrate your TV display. It seems to only work with an iPhone, but the new streaming player’s Colour Balance feature aims to improve TV picture quality by using the sensors in an iPhone to measure/analyse the display, then send the information to the Apple TV 4K, which adapts the image to make improvements to colour and contrast.
Apple’s calibration feature in action
This joins existing features on the Apple TV box, with m ulti-user capabilities expanded to include Apple Arcade and instant resumption so players can pick up from where they left off. Gamers can switch between users through Control Center, and that’s where info about game progress, Game Center achievements, leaderboards and friends can be found.
The Apple TV platform also offers support for Xbox controllers in the Xbox Elite 2 and Adaptive controller. There’s support for YouTube 4K, too, and Picture-in-Picture (PIP) is available across the Apple TV system, supported by AirPlay , which can stream in 4K.
Other features in the 2020 tvOS 14 include access to HomeKit-enabled video cameras and accessories through Siri or Control Center. If an owner has a smart home set-up then they can receive doorbell notifications on the big screen, which will show live feeds of who is at the door.
What features weren’t mentioned for the new Apple TV 4K?
We didn’t hear anything about 120Hz video support . That leaves us wondering whether the new Apple TV 4K will support HDMI 2.1 out of the box. There was also no mention of the new Siri remote having the ‘Find My’ feature during the stream.
Apple drops the ball with pricing and storage on the new TV 4K box
Apple has announced a new Apple TV 4K box – but the announcement felt like it was minor update.
Most disappointing was the lack of movement in terms of price and storage. The new box is similar to the previous model in terms of price £169 for the 32GB version, and £189 for the 64GB version – £10 less than before. Compared to the likes of Chromecast with Google TV, Fire TV 4K and Roku’s streaming players, the new box maintains its premium price but, again, misses out on the opportunity to tempt a wider audience into the Apple ecosystem. The company will point to the vast breadth of the Apple TV’s features as justification for the higher price – but it will likely mean the Apple TV remains a niche offering.
An increase in storage capacity would have been welcome – say, if the company had introduced a 64GB and 128GB for the same prices – making the Apple TV box more interesting for Apple Arcade. Instead, it feels as though Apple has missed the option to become a one-stop box beneath your TV. Rather than the big update we were hoping for, this feels a little like Apple kicking the can further down the road still.

Moving your data to a new iPhone has become a fairly seamless process, thanks in large part to Apple’s iCloud backup and restore process.
iCloud lets you perfectly duplicate your existing iPhone — apps and data included — on a new phone when you upgrade.
And if for any reason you don’t want to use iCloud to restore your new iPhone via iCloud, you can transfer apps one at a time using the App Store.
Check out the products mentioned in this article:
iPhone 11 (From $699 at Apple)
How to transfer apps to a new iPhone using iCloud
To transfer your apps and data using iCloud, you need to have a recent backup of your old iPhone. You probably already have your phone configured to perform automatic, daily backups to iCloud.
To make sure you have a current backup, see how to back up your iPhone with iCloud in our article “How to backup an iPhone to iCloud, to a computer through iTunes, or to an external hard drive.”
Once you know that you have a backup of the old phone, you can restore it during your new iPhone’s initial setup.
1. Turn on your new iPhone and follow the setup instructions.
2. On the Apps & Data screen, tap “Restore from iCloud Backup.”
3. When your iPhone asks you to sign into iCloud, use the same Apple ID that you used on your previous iPhone.
4. Tap “Next,” and choose the most recent backup to install.
After a few moments, your phone will be restored with all the apps from your previous iPhone.
If you’ve already set up your iPhone without restoring your old apps, you can still restore the apps from a backup, but it will erase any apps and data you have since installed on the new phone.
To do that, follow the instructions for how to factory reset and restore your iPhone in the article “How to restore your iPhone from a backup after taking the ‘nuclear option’ of a factory reset.”
How to transfer apps to a new iPhone using the App Store
If you want to selectively restore apps to a new phone without transferring every app you had on the old phone, you can do that using the App Store.
That’s because Apple keeps a record of every app you’ve ever purchased or downloaded for free, and you can re-install those apps at any time on the same phone or any iPhone you later upgrade to.
1. Start the App Store app on the new iPhone.
2. Search or browse to find the app you want to install.
3. Instead of “Get” or a price, you should see a cloud icon to indicate you already have installed that app in the past. Tap the cloud to install the app. You won’t need to authorize the download with Touch ID, Face ID, or a password, since you already own it.
4. Repeat that process for any other apps you want to install.
At last month’s Apple Event in San Francisco, Apple announced the fourth generation Apple TV. This new update, however, is unlike any previous version of the set top box. Apple’s new TV will sport an App Store allowing users to download apps and games.
Naturally, such an announcement brings a lot of excitement to the developer community. With the new Apple TV, the Cupertino based giant has introduced a new operating system, based off iOS, called tvOS. tvOS is essentially iOS but modified. Using common frameworks and the your favorite programming language (Swift, of course!) we will explore tvOS by writing a few simple apps.
Understanding tvOS
tvOS is based on iOS. In fact, many frameworks you have likely used are available in tvOS. However, Apple has deleted several iOS frameworks, making tvOS unique (most notably WebKit).
Apple supports two types of tvOS apps. The first is a traditional app – such an app has bundled code, images, etc. This is essentially the same as an iOS or OS X app. tvOS adds support for a second type of app, which Apple calls client-server apps. Client server apps simply the process of making server requests and development for highly network focused apps. In other words, these are apps that interact with custom databases, servers, etc. For example, if you had written a backend in node.js (a popular javascript framework based on Chrome’s v8 engine), then you might consider using client-server technologies to make it easier to manage the app (also known as the client) and the backend (another word for server). Client-server apps interact directly with javascript. However, due to the nature of these apps, in this introductory tutorial we will not be discussing client-server apps but rather focusing on traditional apps.
With that in mind, let’s get started.
Prerequisites
For this tutorial I assume you have been and are familiar with common iOS frameworks, terminology, and networking. I will be using storyboards throughout the tutorial and expect you to have a working knowledge of how they are used. As such, I will not go into great detail on how to do common tasks in storyboards (i.e. changing background colors, modifying object sizes, etc). If you are not familiar with storyboards or just need a refresher on iOS, it might be a good idea to head over to the AppCoda course page and start there before returning.
You must have Xcode 7.1 (more on this in a bit). It will be best to test on the actual Apple TV, but the simulator will suffice.
Creating a New tvOS Project
In order to develop for tvOS, you must have Xcode 7.1 installed on your mac. Xcode 7.1 includes the tvOS SDK, along with the iOS 9.1 and Swift 2.1.
Fire up Xcode, create a new project, and select a new tvOS app. When prompted, click Single View Application and click next.
Create a name for the app. As is custom for first apps, we’ll begin this tutorial by creating a Hello World app. Name your project HelloWorld and click create when ready. Select a destination for the app.
Hello, tvOS!
Because tvOS inherits from iOS, many of the common concepts you’re familiar with from iOS development exist in tvOS.
In your Main.storyboard file, add a button, title it “Click Me!”, and add a label beneath it as seen in the screenshot below.
Notice that buttons look different in tvOS than they do in iOS. Further, when you add multiple buttons, Apple has enabled users to seamlessly switch between buttons when they swipe right, left, up, or down. Developers need only arrange their buttons in the storyboard to take advantage of this feature (more on this later).
As with iOS, let’s control-drag from the label and button to create an IBOutlet and IBAction. I’ll name the outlet myLabel and action buttonPressed.
Under the buttonPressed action, let’s type the following lie of code:
This should be self explanatory and very familiar to you. If not, the above line of code assigns the string Hello, World to the label’s text property when clicked.
Run the app on the simulator.
You’ll probably want to click the button with the mouse, but unlike an iOS app in the simulator, the Apple TV is not touch screen and relies on a remote. As such, Click Hardware > Show Apple TV Remote or Command Shift R to show the remote. Using the remote, click the button and behold – your first tvOS app is complete!
Quiz Game App
Next, let’s use our newfound tvOS knowledge to build a simple quiz app. This is going to be an extremely basic quiz app (with only one question); the goal of this mini project is to expose you to buttons and how they interact with the remote. In the next project we’ll explore more controls in tvOS.
Again fire up Xcode and go through the setup process detailed above. But this time choose a different project name.
Do some basic storyboarding to mimic the layout I have below.
If you’re unsure how I did this, below is a list of the components I used:
- Four (4) UIButton objects, each 960 x 325 in dimensions
- One (1) UILabel, 1,400 x 120 in dimension
Next add text to the buttons and change their background colors using the storyboard (as you would for any iOS app).
As before, let’s wire up these buttons to the code. For simplicity and ease of understanding, we will make four IBActions (although this is not necessarily the most elegant solution, it is the simplest).
Connect these buttons to the ViewController.swift file and name them uniquely. I named mine button0Tapped, button1Tapped, button2Tapped, and button3Tapped, but feel free to modify these names.
The label in the image above asks what is the capital of California. Given the choices (and the knowledge of California’s capital), Sacramento is the answer. The button for Sacramento corresponds to the button1Pressed action.
Depending on the button clicked, we want to show an alert message to the user, indicating if they selected the right or wrong button. Let’s create a function called showAlert to handle this and make our code DRY (DRY stands for Don’t Repeat Yourself and is a common practice in software engineering; making code dry ensures it is reusable and maintainable).
