Have you ever wondered how do I convert a PNG to JPG for free inside of PowerPoint?
In this article, you’ll learn two different ways to use Microsoft PowerPoint as a PNG to JPG converter (or vice versa). The key points when converting your images like this in PowerPoint are:
File size: Do you want your image to be automatically compressed?
Location: Where do you want to use your image
On top of that, you can use these techniques to convert any type of content in your PowerPoint presentations (graphics, tables, charts, etc.) into either a PNG or JPG image.
This is extremely useful when you need to paste your graphs (as images) into other document like Microsoft Word.
PNG to JPG: Save As Picture
This technique converts your PNG image into a JPG AND saves it to your computer so that you can use it in other programs.
And as I’ll show you below, if you know where to click, you can choose to either to compress or not compress the image (it’s sneaky).
1. Insert a PNG image into PowerPoint
Click the Insert tab, then choose the Pictures command.
Inside the dialog box, find your image and insert it into PowerPoint. PowerPoint can only convert images that are already within your presentation. It cannot externally convert your pictures.
2. Right-Click your image and select Save As Picture
Right-click your PNG image and select Save as Picture to open the Save As Picture dialog box.
3. Change your Save As Type to JPEG

When you are ready to save your PNG image as a JPG, open the Save drop down and choose one of the following options:
A. Save
The Save option saves AND compresses your image as a JPEG.
Just keep in mind that this not only compresses your image to less than the Print (220 ppi), it also removes any areas you’ve cropped out of your photo in PowerPoint.
B. Save Original Picture
This option saves (but does not compress) your image as a JPG on your computer.
In addition, assuming you haven’t cropped and compressed your image, any cropped areas are restored to your image. That’s because when you crop images in PowerPoint, the cropped areas remain with your photo until you specifically compress and remove them.

What is PPT?

How to Save PowerPoint Slides as JPEG

1. Save PowerPoint Slides As JPEG
I’m going to go to the File tab. I’ll choose Export, and then I’ll click on Change File Type. Now I’ll click on Save As.
Go to the File tab and choose the Export option.
2. Compress the File Size
Let’s go ahead and pick out a destination to save those and give it a file name. To save some space, let’s click on Tools and choose Compress Pictures. Let’s make sure the Delete cropped areas of pictures box is ticked. Then, choose Web Resolution to decrease the size of those images.
Use the Web Resolution tool to decrease the size of the image file.
This is going to save the images in a smaller format so that the resulting JPEG images aren’t way too large.
3. Save the Converted File
Now we’ll go ahead and hit Save. Go to the folder where we saved our presentation, you’ll see a JPEG file for each and every slide in the presentation.
Each of these thumbnails is a JPEG image.
4. Share Your Converted Presentation
You can simply send these files over to any device that supports JPEGs to view the presentation on it. This is an easy export option that’ll get your presentation working regardless of the device or software.

I saw some similar questions on this forum but all those were for .NET platform so please don’t close it as duplicate. I have a linux system and I want to convert slide to images via php or shell script(less preferable). the convert command can convert pdf to jpg’s but not a ppt.
Any help would be great.
I don’t think thats possible. Using .NET would means that the user is creating an instance of a powerpoint application and asking it to print a specific slide to a JPG or PDF but in the case of PHP i don’t think it could be possible from a linux system.
In the event you can go on windows server, then you could use the COM interface of PHP to create a COM application and start an installed PowerPoint application and do the same thing as long as the COM component is exposing the necessary methods (probably PRINT())

We used the old version at successfully some time ago, but thI really can’t remember the details.

I was able to accomplish this by first converting the powerpoint file to pdf. This required me installing libre office on my server. Then converting the pdf to images is easily done using image magic.
Here is some of my code. It uses (for the ppt to pdf conversion) and (for the pdf to image conversion)

From a shell script you could use Unoconv which is a simple command line wrapper to LibreOffice which would enable you to convert to a reasonable quality.
For a solution with higher quality output that can be called directly from PHP (and on Linux) you could use a dedicated file conversion API such as Zamzar.
The code to submit a PPT (or PPTX) file for conversion into JPEG would be as follows (more info in the documentation):

How to specify documents that you want to convert powerpoint to jpg
To specify the Powerpoint documents you want to convert from ppt to jpg :
Press on the “Add Audio” button of the main screen and then select the Powerpoint files you want to add. You can also press on the “Add Folder” button to add the entire contents of specific folders.
You can also drag-and-drop Word files or folders with Powerpoint files to add them.
To remove an Powerpoint file from the list, select it on the grid and then press the “Remove” button. To clear all the Powerpoint files from the list press the “Clear” button.

Select “Options” from the “Options” menu to access Convert Powerpoint to Images 4dots’s options screen.
There you can specify the output filename pattern i.e. how the output filename of the images will be.
In the textbox you can enter text and also the vsriables [N] for slide number, [DOC] for document filename, [DATE] for document’s date and [DATETIME] for document’s date and time.
Moreover, you can also specify the output image format and jpeg quality.
Final step to batch convert powerpoint to jpg
Finally, after you specify the output folder for the images, press on the “Convert to Images” button and wait for the application to do its job.
In the end the output folder will open in Windows Explorer.

When your business relies upon visual details, creating presentations with sharp graphics is important. Sometimes, converting a PowerPoint presentation components to a different format such as JPEG affects the quality of the photos. While changing a PowerPoint presentation slide to JPEG is easy, checking the settings for compression of pictures before saving allows for the creation of high-resolution graphics.
Purpose
After you have developed a good PowerPoint presentation, you may find you want to use one particular slide for placement on a Web page or brochure. The JPEG or JPG format is well-suited for complex pictures and photos with many colors, since it supports 16 million colors. When compressed, however, JPEGs may lose some detail. While the effect may not be readily visible in PowerPoint presentations, you can keep the loss from occurring when you convert the photos from the slides.
Resolution
Select the slide you want to save as JPEGs from your presentation. Click the “Picture Tools” option from the menu and click “Compress Pictures.” The choices in the middle section of the dialog box affect the resolution. Click to place the radial button next to “Print” to set the dots per inch — or dpi — at 200. The higher this number, the better the resolution for the picture will be. The default resolution for saving as Web images in 96 dpi, so the print option results in higher resolution.
Compression
Ensure that the box next to “Compress Pictures” in the Compress Pictures dialog box does not have a check mark in it. Compressed pictures take up less memory or drive space, but you may lose quality if you compress the picture, particularly if you enlarge and print it. The blocks making up the picture become more evident as you compress and then enlarge the photo. Before you save the changes, you can undo compression in PowerPoint by clicking “Reset Picture” from the Picture Toolbar, but once you save the photo, compression cannot be undone.
Click “OK” to close the Compress Pictures dialog box. Click “File” from the menu and “Save As.” Click the arrow next to “Save as type” to open the drop-down menu and click “JPEG.” Type a name for the new file and click “Save.” PowerPoint prompts you to save either the single slide or the entire presentation in the JPEG format. Click to place the radial button by your choice and click “OK.”

Did you try .png as alternative, even .tiff may work better. Those are both options besides .jpeg.

I have the perfect solution for you! I work on the PC doing slide formatting then have to make those slides into pictures to import into Quark on the MAC. This is what I do to get a really clear picture.
Go to print. Change the printer to Adobe PDF. Select Properties -> Adobe PDF Settings -> Default Settings: High Quality Print or Print Optimized -> Click OK.
You’re ready to print to PDF. Select Control + P (Print command). In the Print range select Current Slide and make sure it’s color if you want color, etc.
Voila! You have a clean picture that you can import into Illustrator, Quark, and Photoshop to make either an EPS, PNG, JPG, TIF, etc.
I tried this and set the Adobe PDF printer to high quality. The image was very sharp. I am very impressed and I will use this method in future. Only problem I found was the slide shape was not the same as the PPT blank so when I dropped it on there was a gap at the bottom but that’s minor.
Overall, I am impressed.

Having the files in our local file system, first we go to the Master slide layout and configure the default background for the slides. In our case, we will use the layout design with a white background and top cloud with bills and money.
Then we are ready to change the cover slide so we move to the second thumbnail in the list and then select the Format Background options and then Fill the background with the image/picture.
Then we choose Fill -> Picture or texture fill and then Insert from File.
Here is an example showing the cover slide design once it is inserted in the layout.
Now we can duplicate one of the slide layouts and create another variant with the vertical sidebar. We will change the background for this layout in PowerPoint and choose the other slide design we have created.
Now we can close the Slide Master view and go to the Normal view. Here is where you prepare your final presentation. You can add more slides (with a blank template it will look with white background but now that we have configured the Master layout with a background the slide will be inserted with the pre-configured background). You can change the default layout and reset the layout to keep the same styles you have configured in the Slide Master view.

For example, if you want to show a particular graph you have created in a PowerPoint slideshow to someone without having to send them the entire presentation, you might want to turn that slide into an image instead.
Here’s how you would go about doing that.
Once you have created and saved your PowerPoint slideshow, go to File > Save As…

I think your best bet would to get a pdf converter. pdf995 is a app, that gets installed as a printer and your print to it and it converts your file to a pdf. It actually will convert almost anything. I believe there is a free version of it.
I have seen people write a little application that watches a folder for any files and automatically takes that file and calls the print command on it, thus converting the file to a pdf. There are companies that have software like this also, one would be onmiformat. Omniformat works hand n hand with pdf995.
