Multiple news sources say that professional skydiver Maxim Slobodian, also known as Maximignite, died on July 17.
At the time of his death, Slobodian was said to have been 31 years old. It has also been said that the professional skydiver died in Switzerland because of an accident while skydiving.
Local news outlets were the first to report that he had died. Then, his fans and other people he knew on TikTok and Instagram shared it. The Ukrainian man who lived in Dubai went to Switzerland to BASE jump recently.
Local Swiss media say that it happened in Walenstadt, which is in the city of St. Gallen. At the time this was written, neither Slobodian’s family nor his representatives had given any other official confirmation.
Where did Maxim Slobodian go? looking into what caused his death
Blick, a Swiss German-language newspaper and online news site, said that Maxim Slobodian died Saturday night from injuries he got when he crashed during a BASE jump. It is said that the accident happened after he jumped at the Sputnik launch site, which is also called Crack Reminder. Blick’s report says that the accident happened about 7 p.m., after he decided to jump.
Maxim Slobodian was flying in his wingsuit near the “Tieregg” area. The Ukrainian man is said to have crashed after hitting natural obstacles, which were likely trees or high-altitude land. Most of the 31-year-injuries old’s were caused by his fall of about 300 meters. Blick’s first report doesn’t say anything about his chute, but other local sources have said that a problem with the chute caused him to die.
Rega, a private, non-profit air rescue service, tried to save Slobodian at the scene. But their on-site doctor is said to have said that the BASE jumper was dead right away. The fall seems to have caused injuries that were fatal. But it’s still not clear what those injuries are and how bad they are.
Upto Brain, a relatively small online news site, said that Slobodian’s parachute didn’t open as he fell to his death and that’s why he died. But none of the official sources have confirmed the information. As the St. Gallen police look into what happened, they should find out more about what killed him. But it’s still not clear if any new information will be shared with the public.
