Hawkeyes wrestler Sam Stoll shot in knee

Iowa Hawkeyes heavyweight wrestler Sam Stoll was shot overnight. 

Local 4’s Hawkeye Headquarters spoke with the Iowa City Police Department, who confirmed Stoll was shot in the knee by another person early this morning.

The injuries were considered non-life-threatening.

“We are aware of the situation involving Sam Stoll and are currently gathering additional information at this time,” the University of Iowa athletics department said in a news release.

The Iowa City Police Department was called to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after a report of a man who arrived for treatment of a gunshot wound around 4:37 a.m.

Police said several people were in a residence on Valley Avenue in Iowa City when someone discharged a firearm, accidentally striking Stoll.
