Giacomo Chiapparini Death; Identified as Italian Man Crushed To Death Under Falling Cheese Wheels

An Italian man met his untimely demise after being crushed under an immense weight of thousands of wheels of a Parmesan-style cheese.

In a tragic incident, Giacomo Chiapparini, aged 74, lost his life when a shelf unexpectedly collapsed in his warehouse located in the Lombardy region. This devastating incident occurred on Sunday, as confirmed by firefighter Antonion Dusi in a statement to AFP.

In a stunning turn of events, a collapse occurred, triggering a chain reaction that resulted in the downfall of numerous wheels, each weighing approximately 40kg (84lbs).

According to Mr. Dusi, it took a total of 12 hours to locate the body of Mr. Chiapparini. According to reports, several wheels allegedly plummeted approximately 10 meters (33 feet), causing a loud noise described by a local resident to Italian media as resembling thunder.

The estimated economic damage stands at €7m (£6m), according to reports.

In an interview with Italian media, a neighbor provided insight into the character of Mr. Chiapparini, describing him as “very supportive” and “generous.” According to reports, it has been stated that he suffered the tragic loss of a child several decades ago.

In Romano di Lombardia, a town situated approximately 50km (31 miles) east of Milan, a warehouse was discovered. This warehouse housed an impressive stockpile of 25,000 wheels of Grana Padano, a renowned hard cheese that bears a striking resemblance to Parmesan and enjoys widespread popularity throughout Italy.
