Front Street Brewery in Davenport is back in business this afternoon.
While their main location on River Drive is still flooded, neighbors can now get inside their Taproom at the Freight House.
Co-owner Tim Baldwin says the water has receeded enough to where people can walk along the board walk and they’re inviting everyone to come out.
“Now we can finally get into the space without having to wear waders or even boots at this point, which makes it a lot easier for our volunteers to get out here and help.”
But Baldwin says with several feet of water still in the basement of Front Street, they have a long road ahead of them. He says once the water is gone for good, they’ll really start to clean up.
“The real clean up efforts are just beginning and it’s over the next few weeks when we’re all going to need all the help we can get.”
For the past week now, local breweries have come together to support each other.
Over at Eleven17 in the Village of East Davenport, they’re opening early each day — and donating their tips to the flood victims.
They say they want to do whatever they can to help each other stay afloat.
“As small as we are we were trying to think of a way to help out the other establishments downtown that have been affected by the flood since we have such a good relationship with all of them,” Eleven17 owner Eric Sergesketter said. “We’ve all either worked together, or worked at these places before or somewhere else and we just want to help out as best we can knowing the money is going to go directly back to them.”
Sergesketter says each day they are donating their tips to a different local business.
And at Green Tree Brewery in Le Claire they’ve started selling a few of Front Street’s beers on tap, giving back 100% of the proceeds to Front Street.
Front Street Brewery is inviting the public to their “Waders Party” this Wednesday, May 8 from 5-8p.m. to support their local business.
