Many Facebook users across the world are reporting that Messenger is down and not working properly this week.
The errors began on Thursday (June 15) and have continued into Friday. Right now, Meta hasn’t addressed the problems.
However, thousands have been left unable to use Messenger, which is one of the most popular instant messaging platforms.
Facebook Messenger is down
The messaging app is experiencing a multitude of issues this week according to Facebook users worldwide.
Many are claiming that new messages they have been notified about aren’t loading, meaning they cannot read or reply to them.
Others say it’s just pictures that aren’t showing, while some can’t send messages to others at all – and frustration is flooding Twitter.
One person wrote: “Facebook Messenger is down since morning, many people are facing this problem and I am one of them. can’t load any messages sent to me.”
“Anyone else having problems with Facebook Messenger?” another said, to which someone replied: “Yup. Images won’t load. Messages stuck on Sent. Reactions don’t show despite getting the notifications.”
“Yeah I thought it was network problem at first. Can’t see images received and links sent aren’t loading properly either,” another added.
It comes as another Facebook error is deleting people’s photos. Many have lost their entire gallery of memories, leaving them devastated.
What is going on?
Meta hasn’t addressed the problems when writing this. However, there appears to be a bug that is causing the app to malfunction.
With billions of users worldwide, glitches on social media sites like Instagram and Facebook are very common – and there’s not much you can do.
It’s up to Messenger’s tech team to fix the error, which they are probably doing right now. Your app should be working again in a few hours.
However, you can find some things that might fix your account a bit quicker below.
Six possible Messenger fixes
- Close the app and open it again.
- Log out of the app and back in.
- Turn your phone off and on.
- Delete Messenger and re-download.
- Clear Messenger’s cache.
- Make sure you’ve updated the app.
