Felipe won six races that season, including his home race in Brazil, where Felipe crossed the finish line first but ultimately lost the championship due to a last-second overtake by Hamilton.

He remained with Ferrari until the end of the 2013 season before moving to Williams for the 2014 season. Felipe continued to race for Williams until the end of the 2017 season when he announced his retirement from Formula One.

Since retiring from Formula One, he has continued to race in other categories. Felipe competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2018 and 2019 and has also competed in the Brazilian Stock Car Championship. Felipe Massa also served as the President of the FIA Karting Commission from 2017 to 2020.
