Rashid Ali Bynum, a 29-year-old resident of Portsmouth, Virginia, has been indicted by a grand jury in Middlesex County. The indictment was returned on Wednesday, marking a crucial step in the legal proceedings against Bynum.

The individual in question is currently being held in the county jail and is set to appear for arraignment on August 28. As of Thursday, it remains unclear whether he has secured legal representation.Bynum, who was arrested in Virginia back in May, has been extradited to New Jersey as of last month.

In a previous residence, the individual had resided in Sayreville, the same location where Eunice Dwumfour, the victim, lived alongside her 11-year-old daughter and held a position on the City Council.

In a tragic incident, 30-year-old Dwumfour lost her life in a fatal shooting outside her rented terraced house on February 1. The incident occurred as she was returning from a routine trip to the grocery store, mere months after her marriage.

In November, she tied the knot with a fellow pastor from her Nigerian church, Champions Royal Assembly, at their Abuja headquarters. However, her husband has not yet joined her in the US.

In a surprising revelation, it has come to light that Bynum’s name was found on Dwumfour’s phone, listed under the acronym “FCF,” which stands for Fire Congress Fellowship, a church entity associated with the matter.

In her active involvement with the prosperity gospel group, she assumed significant responsibilities, including leading services multiple times a week in Newark and serving as the church treasurer. Few details about the case have been released by prosecutors, who have also not disclosed a possible motive.

According to prosecutors, the arrest of Bynum was facilitated by the utilisation of data obtained from mobile and vehicle transponders. This data was used to reconstruct his journey on February 1 and establish a connection between him and the alleged crime.

The individual in question further corresponded with the physical characteristics provided by Sayreville residents, who described the gunman.
