Dr. Clifton Coffman Obituary News: 79-Year-Old Shreveport Man, Dr. Clifton Coffman Dies in Red Willow County, Nebraska, Plane Crash
Dr. Clifton Coffman Obituary: The Friday, October 27, 2023, flight of the 1993 Piper Malibu Mirage was made in just 2 hours and 43 minutes from Louisiana to McCook, Nebraska. A pilot who was familiar with aircraft said that the plane had a piston engine when it was manufactured at the factory. Later, it was converted to a turboprop.
It is likely that when the plane took off around noon on Monday, it did not get enough altitude to register on the flight records, as none exist. Sadly, we know the plane’s fate as it crashed shortly after takeoff, with one dead and one injured.
The six passenger planes held two people and two dogs (both dogs are fine and being cared for in McCook, according to reports). The passenger area is mostly intact and it appears as if the tree the plane hit veered the plane away from a direct hit into the home affected, plus it slowed the plane down.
Also, losing the wings slowed it down. The pilot I spoke to said if these things had not happened, there would’ve been a big hole in the ground.
The investigation will tell soon enough.
This is a tragedy for the people who lost a loved one, and these images may be tough to see. This is also a reminder of how we come together in crisis to help friends, neighbours, and complete strangers.
I wish a full recovery to the person in the hospital and comfort to those grieving loss and feeling trauma. To the family enduring all of this in their yard, healing and prayers are with you.
