CLAWSON, Mich. (WXYZ) – A dog involved in a car accident in Michigan ran to her doggy day care a mile away for help.
Melissa Fickel said her dog Aries is a smart 3-year-old pitbull mix who loves treats and kisses.
Fickel said she always knew Aries was intelligent, but it wasn’t until the car accident that she figured out just how smart Aries really is.
Last Saturday afternoon, Fickel and Aries were off to the park to enjoy the nice weather when their car was hit in an intersection in the town of Clawson.
“I had the windows down because Aries likes to hang her head out, and as soon as there was that smack, as soon as I felt and heard it, almost instantaneously she was out the window,” Fickel said.
Aries, spooked by the crash, bolted from the car.
She could’ve run into neighborhoods, into the middle of the road, but she instead ran straight to the doggy daycare she frequently visits about a mile away from the accident, Hounds Town Metro Detroit.
Travis Ogden, the owner of Hounds Town, said it seemed like Aries knew exactly where she was heading.
“Like, ‘This is where I go, and this is where I stay.’ She did seem like she knew what to do,” Ogden said.
Aries can be seen running straight to the front door in a surveillance video, jumping up and down.
“She was literally knocking on the door, like could somebody let me in?” Fickel said.
Fickel, who was busy dealing with the accident and police, was worried she may never see Aries again.
But that’s when Ogden gave her a call.
“Luckily then he called me and said, ‘She’s here’ and I literally sank to the ground,” Fickel said.
A smart girl that knew exactly where to go and what to do, to get help for both her owner and herself.
No one was seriously hurt in the accident.
