For the shooting death of a Fort Wayne man, who was identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office on Thursday morning, two suspects have been detained and are being held on preliminary murder charges.

Dennis Dwayne Starr, 40, of Fort Wayne, died from a gunshot wound to the chest, according to an autopsy, and it was concluded that his death was a homicide.

Police discovered Starr’s body inside a car early on Tuesday morning near the Lower Huntington Road and Kruge Drive intersection. Police said a death investigation was ongoing at the time.

Before 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, police in downtown Fort Wayne carried out a “high-risk traffic stop” and swiftly took into custody 25-year-old Lexus Evans and 50-year-old Samuel Evans III.

The Allen County Jail is presently housing both suspects, who are both being held on preliminary murder charges.

No other information about the probe has been disclosed.

Police in Fort Wayne are looking into the death of a man who was discovered inside a car this morning in the Waynedale neighborhood.

About 5:45 a.m., according to police, a driver contacted 911 thinking a car had wrecked in the 4200 block of Lower Huntington.

The motorist was discovered by police to be unconscious and not breathing. He was confirmed dead at the spot, according to the police.

Between Smith Road and Ardmore Avenue, Lower Huntington Road was shut down.
