Bushwhacker Butch was born on the 21st of October 1944 in Auckland, New Zealand and he passed away on the 2nd of April 2023 at the age of 78. Bushwhacker started his career in the 1960s and gained fame in the 1980s and 1990s as one half of the tag team known as The Bushwhackers, alongside Luke Williams.
The Bushwhacker Butch and Luke Williams were known for their wild and comical behavior, which included their signature “Bushwhacker Walk”, where they would walk around the ring with their arms swinging in the air. Robert also had a unique fashion sense, wearing camouflage pants and a tank top with the New Zealand flag.
He has competed in various promotions, including WWE, where he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2015.
The Bushwhacker Butch and Luke Williams won tag team championships in several promotions, including the NWA and Stampede Wrestling.
After retiring from wrestling, he worked as a trainer at the Wild Samoan Training Center in Florida, helping to train future wrestlers. Bushwhacker also made occasional appearances on the independent wrestling circuit and at fan conventions.
