Davenport Parks and Recreation held a meeting Saturday for the community to talk about the future of the Davenport Junior Theatre program.

Before an interactive activity, theater staff shared a brief presentation on the program’s history and current mission. Community members were then encouraged to share how the program has impacted them personally and give their input on potential future locations.

“For me it’s really been a safe place. It’s been a place I know I’m not judged. I get to grow even as an adult,” said Cynthia Taylor, parent and main stage director.

Our Quad Cities News spoke with the director of Parks and Recreation to find out how community members can get involved.

“We plan to have a couple more input sessions to go through the data we collect today to further develop the plan,” said Chad Dyson, department director. “If you have ideas you didn’t think of today and you want to share, reach out to the Parks Department and give me that input.”

More meetings will be held as the community and the Junior Theatre program figure out the next steps.
