Clinton County Jail inmate dies

The death of a Clinton County inmate is under investigation after an officer found him unresponsive in his cell.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday August 13, an officer at the Clinton County Jail discovered an unresponsive male inmate in his cell.
The officer immediately radioed for medical assistance and began CPR with the help of other officers at the jail.
The Clinton Fire Department paramedics responded to the jail and were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is under investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal investigation and the Clinton County Sheriffs Office.
His name is not being released until next of kin has been notified.
