David Pearce is accused of killing Christy Giles and one of her friends.
Last year, Pearce was charged with manslaughter. He was a Hollywood film producer and party organizer. According to the most recent news, he is now being charged with murder for the drug overdose deaths of Instagram model Christy Giles and her architect friend.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed new murder charges against Pearce, 40, last week for the deaths of Christy Giles, 24, and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26.
Also, Brandt Osborn, an actor who is 42 years old, was accused of helping to kill the two women. Even though he is now free on bond, there is a warrant out for his arrest.
Michael Ansbach, a cameraman who was 47 years old and was arrested at first, was not charged.
Pearce’s past convictions now include a murder charge against Christy Giles.
Shortly after Christy Giles died, Pearce was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, while Osborn and Ansbach were charged with being part of the crime.
Police say that all three suspects went to a warehouse party with the women in the hours before they were killed. After that, Hilda Cabrales-Arzola and Christy Giles spent the night at Pearce’s apartment.
Pearce had already pleaded not guilty to two counts of forced rape, one count of rape of a sleeping or unconscious person, and one count of s*xual penetration with a foreign object before last week. Because of this, Pearce is being charged with assaulting seven more women.
Since December 2021, Pearce stayed in jail because he was accused of assaulting four women between 2010 and 2020.
One of the alleged victims said that Pearce gave her a drink of whiskey that made her pass out. The victim said that Pearce hurt her while she was unconscious. A probation officer said in a report that after she fought him off, he even said he would hurt her family.
Another woman said that Pearce followed her around while she was sleeping and then threatened to hurt her family.
What came after the charges
When the murder charges against Christy Giles were announced, her family went to Instagram and said,
His lawyer, Jacob Glucksman, said that Pearce will plead not guilty when he goes to court on July 11. He also said that Pearce “vehemently and strongly denies having anything to do with the sad deaths of these women.”
Pearce also asked the court to lower his bail, which was set at $3.4 million. While that was going on, Gluckman filed a motion to lower the bail amount and asked that his client be allowed to go free with a GPS ankle bracelet.
Gluckman went on to say that the bail amount should be right for the charges he is “currently” facing, not for things that are “pure speculation and media fodder” right now.
The lawyer also denied the assault claims, saying that the crime wasn’t reported until years later and that the District Attorney’s office dropped the most recent one in 2020 because there wasn’t enough evidence.
The motion says that Pearce’s job as a freelance event planner doesn’t give him enough money to pay the bail. Plus, because of his health problems, he is at a high risk of getting COVID while he is in jail.
