Frank Lampard’s Chelsea and Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will face each other at Stamford Bridge in London in the Premier League this evening.
Chelsea will head into the match against Leeds on the back of a 4-0 victory over Sevilla away from home in Spain in the Champions League.
The West Yorkshire club also won their last competitive game, getting the better of Everton 1-0 away from home at Goodison Park in the league.
The Blues are fourth in the Premier League table at the moment, while Leeds find themselves 12th in the standings.
This is how Chelsea and Leeds will line up at Stamford Bridge this evening:
Ahead of the match, Lampard spoke highly of Leeds striker Patrick Bamford, who was at Chelsea in his younger days but could not establish himself in the first team.
Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has also praised Bamford for his performances so far this season.
According to WhoScored, the former Nottingham Forest striker has scored seven goals and provided one assist in 10 Premier League games for Leeds this campaign.
Lampard told Football.London about Bamford: “Yes, I remember him well. He trained with us quite a lot as a young player who arrived at the club. He clearly had great finishing ability and an eye for goal in that early stage at Chelsea. It didn’t quite work out for him which was more due to the competition he faced at that time for us.
“He should be proud of the way his career has gone to make different moves and comeback and be one of the leading scorers in the Premier League for a very good Leeds team. I like Patrick as a lad and he is playing very well. I am happy for him.”
Shearer told BBC Sport about Bamford: “His link-up play has been excellent and his work-rate has been superb. He wouldn’t be in that Leeds team otherwise because everyone has to do that.
“It has taken him a while to make a mark at this level and he had to leave Stamford Bridge to kickstart his career, but he looks at home in the Premier League now.”
