Boy released from hospital after SUV struck him in Moline

UPDATE: The boy who was struck by an SUV Friday in Moline was released from the hospital Friday evening with minor injuries, according to an update from Moline Police.
EARLIER: A 13-year-old boy was struck by an SUV shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday in Moline, according to a news release from Moline Police.
Moline Police were dispatched to the 1800 block of 48th Street Place for a report of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian.
A 13-year-old boy was on the west sidewalk and ran mid-block east across 48th Street Place in between vehicles. A Cadillac XTS was traveling north at the same time. The boy crossed behind a Metrolink bus that was traveling south and the boy continued to cross east and entered the northbound lane when he was struck by the northbound SUV.
The driver stopped the car immediately, police say. Moline Fire Department paramedics transported the boy to a Quad City hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Moline Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating the incident. No citations or arrests were made on the scene. The road was closed for about 50 minutes.
