It turns out that an innocent Starburst sweet product commercial kicked off this trend.
Back in 2007, Starburst released “berries and creme” flavoured sweets and a funny advertisement video to accompany the candy’s debut.

Featuring actor and writer Jack Ferver, the ‘Little Lad’ dances along to the song after randomly approaching strangers and expressing his love for the particular flavour.
The “berries and cream” song soon gained masses of attention, which can now be described as going viral in the modern day, only today it’s highly recognised on a video-sharing platform instead.
Starburst then releasing a second, extended advertisement with Jack Ferver named “The Little Lad Dance”.
In part 201 of explaining where TikTok trends originate, @andrew_stovall provided footage of the commercial.

The famous lyrics read “I’m a little lad who loves berries and cream”. But, who is the supposed ‘Little Lad’?
As previously briefly stated, Jack Ferver is the featured actor in the advertisement video, now well-known as the Little Lad.
Over on TikTok, Jack continues to undertake the role of the Little Lad as @thereallittlelad and has more than 1.2 million followers along with 10.5 million likes in total.
@jackferver has over 27,000 followers on Instagram and often shares extremely creative content.
Along with their powerful activist posts representing issues such as Black Lives Matter.
jackferver.com describes the artist as a is a New York-based writer, choreographer, and director.
Ferver is also a professor at Bard College and has been guest faculty at New York University.
As an actor, they have appeared in numerous films and television series.
