Andrew Wilkinson Obituary Maryland: In loving memory of Maryland judge Andrew Wilkinson; Suspect Pedro Argote death.
Following a week-long manhunt, authorities confirmed that the man suspected of shooting Judge Andrew Wilkinson to death in the driveway of his Maryland home was discovered dead on Thursday.
Pedro Argote, 49, the suspect, had been evading capture since he shot Wilkinson, a Washington County circuit court judge, on October 19. Argote had lost a child custody battle with his estranged wife just hours before.
A deceased person who was definitively identified as Argote was found during a search that began at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Williamsport, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Sheriff Brian Albert stated, “We’re pretty sure that, you know, obviously we got our guy.”
“The Washington County community can breathe a little easier this afternoon,” he said.
Approximately one mile northwest of the location where Argote’s Mercedes-Benz SUV was discovered on Saturday, his body was discovered in a densely forested region. A reward of up to $10,000 had been offered by the U.S. Marshals Service for information that led to his capture.
Albert stated that the sheriff’s office will not comment on the reason or timing of Argote’s death until the autopsy is finished.
