15-year-old boy hit with manslaughter rap over Harlow death of 'hard-working' Pole outside shops

A BOY of 15 appeared in court yesterday charged with the manslaughter of a Polish man.
The death of Arkadiusz Jozwik, 40, in August was first thought to be a possible hate crime but it is understood that prosecutors are not treating it as such.

Police said Mr Jozwik was felled by a single punch and hit his head as he fell outside shops in Harlow, Essex. He died two days later.

In a tribute statement issued at the time, the family of Mr Jozwik, who was known as Arek to his friends, said: "He was a hard-working man who loved spending time with his family, specifically his nephew, with whom he loved to play table football."

The teenager, who cannot be named, did not make a plea at Chelmsford youth court.
He was bailed to appear at the town’s crown court on Monday.
