Everyone loves dressing up for Halloween, so here are 10 of the best and easiest anime-themed costumes for you to try out this spooky season.
Whilst dressing up is one of the best things about Halloween, it can often be difficult choosing the right outfit and especially so if you don’t want that costume breaking the bank.
Arguably the most popular ‘genre’ of Halloween costumes comes from the wonderful world of anime, where there is an infinite variety of themes you can party in.
However, these outfits need to be both recognisable and easy to create, especially this close to All Hallows’ Eve – here are 10 of the best and cheapest ways to dress up as an anime character this Halloween.
Demon Slayer’s Demon Corps uniform
With Demon Slayer season 2 dominating the Fall broadcasting slate, there may not be a more relevant anime Halloween costume out there. The basic Demon Slayer Corps uniform is a black button shirt with a white collar, with some baggy black trousers to go along with it and white socks.
To become Tanjiro himself, add his iconic black and green checked kimono, a scar on the forehead and to top it off, Hanufuda earrings. Pro tip: add a red cardboard box for your backpack to store Halloween treats as to imply you’re’ carrying around your own Nezuko.
Speaking of the little demon herself, dressing up as Nezuko is much easier with a pink full-length dress accompanying a black kimono and a customary mouth guard.
Bonus points if you are brave enough to celebrate Halloween as Inosuke, who ditches the black shirt and adds fur-lined trousers with a boar head…although face paint will probably do just fine.
Attack on Titan’s Scout regiment
Attack on Titan’s Scout regiment uniform is arguably one of the most recognisable anime-themed outfits you will see out this Halloween.
To become a member of the infamous troop, some simple white pants and knee-high boots complement their iconic beige jacket – which stops at the ribs rather than at the waist.
Add some flair by including a green cape, a red scarf or even your own homemade ODM gear.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Satoru Gojo
Want to wear a reference to your favourite anime and look the part for the party? Look no further than Jujutsu Kaisen’s Satoru Gojo.
The Jujutsu Tech school uniform is an extremely simple and easy costume to manage, with only a navy blue (or black) jacket and pants.
Specify for Gojo with a black blindfold and white hair, whilst Yuji Itadori features red boots and a red hood.
Fire Force’s lit Halloween costume
Going as a member of the Fire Force team lands you in either one of two camps; it mostly depends on the weather outside.
One version is the big bulky firefighter jacket that Shinra uses, which can be linked to the anime through their cross-symbol, iconic white and blue horizontal stripes – all accompanied by some baggy silver trousers.
For those brave enough to head out as Tamaki, open the jacket up and add a black swimsuit top and neck brace.
Boruto: Naruto Next Generation
Similar to Attack on Titan, the majority of anime-themed costumes you may see trick-or-treating involve either the Boruto or Naruto franchises.
The most basic outfits only need to feature two main items, a black and orange hoodie and the iconic silver headband…pretty simple right?
More specifically, fans can also use the headband with an Akatsuki cloak or even spice things up as Kakashi with a green vest over a long-sleeved black shirt and face mask.
One Piece’s Luffy
One Piece is one of the most iconic anime franchises out there and basing your Halloween costume around Luffy is a classic idea.
Luffy’s outfit is rather simple to accomplish, with the main items being an open red jacket, blue shorts, a yellow belt/sachet and of course, the yellow straw hat.
Other good One Piece outfits could be based around Zoro (opened the green coat and red belt/sachet) and Chopper (yellow and white stroked t-shirt, orange or brown shorts and crossed-pink hat).
A more relevant outfit could also be Yamato, which involves a red skirt, white tank top, pink and white belt and red horns.
High-Rise Invasion’s creepy masks
Costumes from the fantastic High-Rise Invasion anime can be a bit more ambiguous than many of the other outfits on the list.
With the majority of on-screen characters, simply adding the opera-style masks and some fake blood would be enough to pass.
Arguably the best High-Rise Invasion costume would be based on the Maid Mask, which uses a simple maid costume with the opera mask and sickle.
Seven Deadly Sins
Anime-themed Halloween costumes need to either be recognisable, awesome or relevant to a recent series – The Seven Deadly Sins has all three.
The top choices would be Ban and Diane; Ban can be honoured with red leather trousers and a red open-button jacket, whilst Diane is a simple orange swimsuit/leotard, blue gloves and knee-high boots.
Sailor Moon: Simple yet effective
Sailor Moon Halloween costumes are simple, yet effective.
A plaid blue skirt accompanies a white short-sleeved shirt with a red bow and knee-high red boots.
You could even transform a simple sailor outfit into a Sailor Moon reference by adding the white gloves, red bow and long pigtails.
Kakegurui school uniform
Another uniformed option comes from Kakegurui, which is a simple black and red blazer, black trousers/skirt and a black cross tie.
